So the pc players didint even stay
I made a post a while back that a game this streamlined and simplified could not match the fleshed out shooters and rpg games available to them
You had a fanbase, and you decided it was better to make the game so increably simple to try and get as many casuals as possible
So in the end, pc players are gone, the fans are split and practically gone, and the casuals are off to the next hyped shiny game.
Is this really the future you wanted?

6 RepliesIn order to satisfy the PC population D2 on PC needed to be a combination of everything in Y3 and D2 together....and it came woefully short of that. When the master race is not sharpening their teeth to rip a game apart and they are feeling bored they simply abandon the game as there are so many options on Steam and such. You are correct in that once PC reached the proverbial "what now" point they started abandoning the game as there isn't that much loyalty to game or Bungie on the PC side. And some will return for DLC but overall majority of people who legs won't come back for DLC. And those who do are the ones who burn through it and leave the game again and cycle continues. Which is fine for Bungie as financially this is a success, as the product is re selling itself and albeit at maybe slower rates but its a positive income at the same since all the DLC is already crafted and you don't have design costs associated with it. Money is made shareholders are happy (as people will buy DLC if they haven't already). This is not the universe the player base wanted but its the one we continue to support with the dollar spent and economics wise is something that both Bungie and Activison are ok with as its doesn't lead to them losing gobs of money. Player base happiness is a secondary or tertiary concern to that as long as the masses are not actively trying to French Revolution the company.

11 RepliesAs a casual gamer I am very happy with how I am able to actually gear up solo. I can jump in and play 30minutes without much of any hassle. Problem is there’s no reason to progress at all. Once you get the meta weapons setup you’re pretty much golden. I don’t think the issue falls completely on this game being designed for casuals. I think that it truly just dropped the ball on progression. Why? That’s the million dollar question. Is it a RPG vs FPS issue or a PvE lumped into PvP balancing? I’m leaning towards a bit of both.

Three characters @PL 300+, weapon quests, faction farming completed, I will even have my Medations-Set complete today when the reset kicks in. Besides the Raid the only thing left to do, while waiting for the weekly reset, is PvP and that one sucks big time. I know absolutely [b]nobody[/b] who plays this game for PvP... we half-heartedly do it (if at all) for the powerful gear and that's it. I really love the game, its punchy gameplay, its prestine presentation and the general atmosphere, but compared to Warframe (I'm a 4k+ hours veteran) it has just too little meat to the bone. The PL and reward system is more than awkward. Nobody right in his mind will grind for exotic engrams in hope for that one extra average PL-point that breaks the ban of a current progress-stop. It's easier to wait for the weekly reset and play something else meanwhile. A very big downer of the game are the raids: you can only form groups manually. If you don't bring enough friends you need to use the Companion App or the website to find a group. Sorry, but it's not 1995 anymore... My mates and I started out as over a dozen at release, only two of us still play the game on a daily basis of at least 2h. The main game needs some major upgrade before I even consider buying a season pass.

How could they stay? Bungie banned a lot of them and refuses to review or even discuss the bans. If I was a PC player, I wouldn't stick around even if I wasn't banned.

14 RepliesLet me get this straight: IF the numbers on DestinyTracker are legit, we currently have 1,6m active players out of which 700k players play PvP. That´s across all platforms and both D1 and D2. Why D1 and D2? Because DestinyTracker tracks accounts that log into Bungie servers in general. You can clearly see that fact in the last official player population chart: http://mp1st.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/destiny-2-player-count.png Here you can see that there were around 400k players active before the drop of D2 from where 200k played PvP. That´s the exact same numbers we had in D1 Y3 the month before D2 dropped. We already know that many players are back on D1 that left for D2 and D1 also has many new players that grind the first game to be ready for the sequel. So let´s say there are at least 200k active D1 players from which 100k play PvP. Now you have to take into account that D2 is played on three platforms compared to D1Y3 that´s availiable for two platforms only. The PC-players are also newer to the game and franchise so they obviously have "more to do" right now. Does anyone have the actual Battlenet player count for D2? Let´s say there are at least 700k active PC players where 300k are playing PvP. To summarize, D1 had around 400/200k active players on both consoles weeks before D2 dropped...that were the lowest numbers D1 ever encountered during it´s three year lifespan. D2 currently has approximately 700/300 on both consoles...2 months after it´s drop. Pretty damn low for a full sequel if you ask me...

you were right. pc players have already left en masse this shiny pearl with totally no replay value game. im on powerlevel 268 but there is absolutely no point in playing anymore. there is nothing to grind for. nothing to collect. there is no communication AT ALL in any ways with any player ingame. It could be a single player game with AI bots playing. Thats the crappy deliverance Destiny 2 served by Bungie in 2017. Worst flop ever.

You made a really good point "and the casuals are off to the next hyped shiny game." It feels more and more like that was the plan. Be just another "big AAA release" let the casuals wander off and then try to draw them and new players back with DLC every season. And along the way, add back into D2 all the features and options that D1 had by the end of Y3 (you know all the ones that most of the consistent D1 players liked by the end of Y3.) I can't believe they went this far down the "make it easy for everyone" road.

13 RepliesI'm back at Destiny 1. Hell, I might get D1 for Xbone to play though it again and try to experience everything as somebody who picked up the game right before D2 did. Like Smith says D2 is a collection game, he's wrong, D1 is way more of a collection game than D2 will probably ever be, I'm still trying to collect all of the stuff there, on top of beating everything I haven't done outside of my Hunter there.

I hate to be that one guy but while they were drunk with their "ermahgerd uncapped frames" people literally said "Frames and pretty graphics don't make the game, you're going to hit that wall that everyone on consoles has hit" they denied, but uhh.... We told you so?

8 RepliesOdd my clan roster and friends list haven't changed, still very active and I find crucible matches and strike parties within just a few seconds as apposed to the Consoles having to wait several mins. Also various polls on Reddit show the PC numbers up as high as PS4. Not bad for a new platform for a previously console only game. The game is simple and currently a bit light on end game activities but it looks amazing and plays very well. From what I have noticed and read is the PC community is far more pleased with the game then those who played D1 and D2 on consoles.

7 RepliesThe PC players have all gone to their own forums and pre established Clan Sites. They also use Reddit more often then this forum as its clunky. Are you trying to prove a point or come up with a conclusion? I cant really tell from your post. Its just whining with no proof of facts. Also why are you using a new post to bring up a failed topic from an old post? So isnt starting 2 topics on the same exact thread against forum policy? Every site that "tracks" player pre order stats and player current usage population is doing so with voluntary information only. None of that data is quantifiable nor useful. Statistically speaking its useless as there is no real basis for comparison. You are just trying to spin a narrative to fit your own personal disappointment in the game. You dont speak for me or any other PC player. Besides how would you know seems like you dont play any platform any longer. Every planet on the PC is lousy with players. The tower is almost always at max cap and the same with the farm. So I dont know what it is you are shoveling but it isnt proof of anything.
