So my rant about my issue with voidwalker and as an example to all other skill trees. I have upgraded my voidwalkers skill trees to their full potential. The problem is after you do that and realize your nova bomb now sucks, theres no way to unselect the 4th upgrade on either tree. Knowing this from the beginning I would have never upgraded to cataclysm. I would have upgraded the tree 1 through 3 and skipped out on cataclysm and just used the good ole normal nova bomb from the beginning. Why cant I unselect these perks?
I upgraded the whole tree at once so what I do not know is does it take all 4 upgrades before any of those perks work or do they work independently from 1 another? If they dont then I understand why you cant unselect that 4th perk. Can anyone chime in? Thanks

Become legend, bungie's way

Because Bungie knows what's best and how you should play. They do not like you deviating at all from how they want you to play. You are not allowed to have fun. Didn't you get the memo?

I also want angel of light deactivated. Its an extra button to press to cancel out an animation when in a sudden fight. I'd like to be teamshotted with midas for the millionth time with my feet firmly on the ground.

Nova bomb without cataclysm is just bad. It almost tripples the damage.

1 ReplyI love the Cataclysm Nova Bomb. If you aim it right you can curve it around corners and over structures that would otherwise be in the way. Drop it on the head of Hydra without worrying about the rotating shield. Plus since it just flies rather than arcing like a grenade it's easier to hit high targets like the assault ship in cabal excavation public events. You can shoot a cataclysm nova bomb to prematurely detonate it. The swarm of axion bolts it releases upon detonation can deal lots of damage. They'll either clear any adds the initial explosion didn't kill or if targeted at a boss trace back to the original target dealing even more damage. It's a more tactical nova bomb, you gotta be smart with how you use it.

6 RepliesI feel fortunate in that I learned this lesson from the quiver perk on the Night Stalker, so I never upgraded six shooter (Gunslinger) or cataclysm (Voidwalker). Titans, it seems, dodged a bullet on this because the only perk they have that dramatically changes the way their supers function is Ward of Dawn for the neo-Defender, and you can decide whether or not you want to use it at the moment of activation. That's what the cataclysm and quiver perks need: hold the triggers to get the modified behavior, tap to get the default. Six shooter needs to be buffed.

I really hope Cosmo sees this thread.

Yes it would be nice if Bngie at least made it so you can turn on or off a section of the skill tree. They really messed up some of the supers...

9 RepliesIt's pretty clear to me that when they came up with all the new ideas for subclass abilities they never actually bothered to test or balance them. Once they got the animation working they moved on. They really, really need to introduce a 3rd, possibly 4th selectable skill cluster and the ability to mix and match perks from all of them.

They are independent, a lot of ppl dont upgrade 6 shooter in Hunter trees for the same reason, unfortunately there is no way to unselect a perk once you have unlocked it, all or nothing from there
-
They work independently of each other, most people unlock them incrementally. If you really hate it that much just buy yourself a set of white gear from vendors, vault your good stuff and start a new Warlock. As a casual it only took me three days to clear the campaign. Plus when you get to Titan and Io you will be able the pick a new legendary from quest rewards.
