To put it plainly, angel of light is not worth it. It can be a fun perk to mess around with in patrols and casual activities, but in anything endgame like trials or the raid, it's not worth it. The only thing staying in place in the air will do is get you killed, as Wings of Sacred Dawn literally make you a sitting duck. This is a shame, because the exotic clearly had some work put into it with the intricate designs and animations of the wings, and the noise that it makes whenever it's activated. But this effort is all going to waste because no one will use it.
However, there is a very easy fix for this problem: change the exotic perk. Something that would fit its theme perfectly and address a significant problem in dawnblade's design.
Change the perk on Wings of Sacred Dawn to eliminate any midair innacuracy that you have.
Essentially, let them grant the D1 Icarus perk to everything.
This would greatly increase the utility of the Winged Sun perk, and by extension buff the entire Attunement of Sky for dawnblade, as they all revolve around getting midair kills. Of course that is quite difficult when 1/3 of your bullets literally don't hit, but Wings of Sacred Dawn would eliminate that issue.
Edit: for anyone misunderstanding this post, I'm not asking for it to be anything more than the same as shooting on the ground. Just eliminating the extra inaccuracy debuff that is applied when you are in the air.

Funny how random forum users can come up with cooler shit than bungie

3 RepliesWhy is there mid-air inaccuracy in the first f***king place anyway? What are Attunement of Sky Dawnblades supposed to take advantage of when using those jump-into-the-air talents are more of a detriment anyway??

2 RepliesEdited by Swiftlock: 10/17/2017 6:55:28 PMI agree that floating through the air isn't the most competitive tactic, but completely eliminating the accuracy penalty for guns like Uriel's or Origin Story is begging for problems. Couple this with Destiny's aim assist and you'd essentially be giving Warlocks the ability to fire magnetic bullets that always stick to people's faces. The simple condition of being in the air is way too little of a penalty for such a powerful boon. You'd just have Warlocks hovering around and trying to obliterate people, which sounds like bad game design.

1 ReplyPerfect for mida quest. Not good to do it in front of me in pvp and think you won't die.

1 ReplyThey should just build icarus into the winged sun perk in the top tree and give wings of sacred dawn something else. The subclass encourages mid air combat so it doenst make sense that you would have to equip an exotic to make use of that.

14 RepliesEdited by NobodyJustBrad: 10/17/2017 6:42:45 PMUm... when Angel of Light is active, you don't have any in-air inaccuracy, which is even better than Icarus' accuracy. The down side is being more vulnerable. That's called a compromise and it is the very core of balancing.

17 RepliesYou can’t remove all in air inaccuracy. A portion yes maybe 25-35%. I could see it now an airborne Uriel’s gift from on high with no accuracy penalty. That’s a tad ridiculous.

1 ReplyI actually thought that was what it might bring when I got them. Can be useful with a dodge and staying up etc but generally it needs the accuracy. 100% with you on this one. They'd be great fun if they were. Out of curiosity have you gone so far as to use recoil reducing mods etc? I wonder if they make much difference?
