They did it. They ruined Iron Banner
They truly did it. They removed the one thing that made Iron Banner unique. Our power level no longer matters.
I enjoyed it when i was out leveled in D1 by 20+ Light. THAT is what makes skill matter. Outplaying a team that out ranks you in power.
Now the playing field is leveled like the rest of crucible. Atleast the gear looks nice. To bad it will be -10 of your power.
I guess there is one other brightside. For one week we can choose a playlist that doesnt change game modes. Guess its to bad its Control and not Clash.
Come on bungie.. What players are you even trying to cater to anymore. I want the thrill back. The grind. The excitment that comes when Salad Hands doesnt have the gun for sale you want and three days in the gun drops for you after a match.. Bungie. What have you done.
Needless to say, i will still play a few matches a day because if this game ever does become what it was Destined to be i dont want to come back in with catch up to do.

Are there IB specific weapons? I didn’t see any in the Bungie post.

I honestly could care less about power level. My problems are with weapons and gear. There simply is not enough in the game, yes I know destiny has only been out a month but seriously it should have launched with tons of stuff. Fixed rolls are killing this game. Once you have a weapon, the 100 duplicates you get from here on out are sharded,once you have you go to handcannon, pulse Ect.. the rest sharded.I was fortunate to get all the trial weapons in the first week, mostly through just turning in tokens. What's the point now? For an aura? I can see the same with Ib.Most players will get whatever gear and weapons are available for the first week, in a day or two. Then what? Shards shards shards

3 RepliesLevel advantage doesn't really need to exist at all. Your D2 KD is a 1.0 average. Do you really want level advantage enabled? If you can't even go positive in normal crucible, how are you going to do against full teams...it'll just be buttload of hurt and frustration on your part.

58 RepliesSo what you are saying is it's fair to get stomped by a hardcore fire team that is max levelled because they raid 10 times a day over a random that likes to explore maps and pick up dusk shards for a hobby and has never raided or done a nightfall? Seems unfair to me.

And least it’s not Supremacy or rift. Imagine if rift was part of the quickplay mode. The matches would end instantly from people leaving.

I was hoping it would be 6v6 but other than that I think it’s fine. It stops being competitive when one player does more damage than another.

It's a good thing it isn't by power level, you'd be behind the curve and complaining that IB wasn't fair because of the power levels.

1 ReplyThe power didnt really matter at all... The only TWO instances it mattered were: 1st ever trials and 1st ever IB it was somewhat noticable. It was almost gone already in Y2.

Levels in IB didn't make much of a difference anyway, unless you were 50+ levels lower.

Meh, by the end of D1 the "advantage" you got for being higher light was basically non-existent. You had to be 20 points of light behind someone before it actually mattered and even then it would only make a difference if you were straight up 1v1ing someone in a lane with no one getting a jump on the other. That's leaving aside the fact that after the infusion changed it was pretty tough to play and be 20 points of light behind anyway.

No out-powering your opponents does not make skill matter. They removed it from Trials, and guess what.... They didn't cry. I'm glad it's removed. This means that all of us are on a level playing field, you can equip anything you want, the power level isn't important. YOU CAN USE THE GUNS YOU WANT. Wow... it sounds sooooo terrible. Must be so bad to not be out-leveled by your opponent. Must be so bad to use any gun you want, not just the guns that brink you up to your highest power level. It must be absolutely terrible that everyone can participate in Iron Banner.

Do you actually realise how little power level actually mattered in IB D1? It literally didn’t matter unless you were 20+ levels higher than someone and even then it was minuscule, they confirmed this themselves. If anything it alienated low levels and gave us less people to play against meaning worser connections and longer matchmaking on a shrinking community. The only things ruined are the fact that it’s 4v4 instead of 6v6. Although I prefer 6v6, 4v4 control is OK. And that there may not be a weapon on sale however loot may drop from trading in tokens at IB vendor I assume or hope. We will have to wait and see.
