They truly did it. They removed the one thing that made Iron Banner unique. Our power level no longer matters.
I enjoyed it when i was out leveled in D1 by 20+ Light. THAT is what makes skill matter. Outplaying a team that out ranks you in power.
Now the playing field is leveled like the rest of crucible. Atleast the gear looks nice. To bad it will be -10 of your power.
I guess there is one other brightside. For one week we can choose a playlist that doesnt change game modes. Guess its to bad its Control and not Clash.
Come on bungie.. What players are you even trying to cater to anymore. I want the thrill back. The grind. The excitment that comes when Salad Hands doesnt have the gun for sale you want and three days in the gun drops for you after a match.. Bungie. What have you done.
Needless to say, i will still play a few matches a day because if this game ever does become what it was Destined to be i dont want to come back in with catch up to do.

Really? The power level made Iron Banner unique? I always thought it was the number of posts bitching about how "this is the worst Iron banner ever" that made each Iron Banner more unique than the Crucible. My bad.

3 RepliesThey said -blam!- you to the player base and are now catering to casuals

4 RepliesIf you havent figured it out by now this is participation trophy destiny now. Everybody is the same and special. No uniqueness allowed!. Good day)

Whats the point of Power Level anymore? Anyone? Genuinely don't know its purpose other than the raid.

2 RepliesEdited by Jesus de Espacio: 10/8/2017 5:58:19 AMI remember the first time I saw Iron Banner in the tower. I had no idea what it was and it seemed special. It sounded elite & your light level mattered! You also got pretty badass gear for playing it. I was intimidated & waited to play it for a while. It was special and better than regular Crucible, but not as sweaty or intense as Trials. I suck hard at PVP, but the Light Level increase helped me hold my own. It was the only PVP I enjoyed & looked forward to monthly. After the game was dying down, it gave me a reason to play. I feel like the 1st IB in D2, doesn't separate itself from the regular Crucible. It SHOULD be different & special, not just cosmetic gear. It's an awesome feeling when you defeat someone who's light is higher than yours & equally crappy when a lower light Guardian owns you. Currently I have zero incentive to play it, but I hope some changes will come & encourage people to enjoy it again. I was genuinely looking forward to IB before I read about the changes. Just my opinion. Thanks for reading.

The better player will still be the better player. The better team will still be the better team. I don't even play D2 anymore but holy shit do you people in this area whine a lot. If you're good at PvP then you shouldn't have an issue at all.
-
In D1, they said power level mattered, but it really didn't. (Except in terms of postgame drops.) In D2, they say power level doesn't matter, and it doesn't. (And post-game drops have been mostly replaced with tokens, that you can exchange after equipping your higher light gear.) I miss the idea of power level mattering, but the reality is, it never did unless there was an enormous gap.

I’m not even gonna try iron banner whoops I mean quick play pvp

Edited by name: 10/9/2017 8:24:01 AMthey killed pvp already when it was dumbed down to 4v4 players which is a joke resistance 2 had 30v30 pvp already in 2008 , and a server list (+ deditacted servers) where you could even choose your game mode, makes you think why almost 10 years later we have such lazy games ...

3 RepliesYay Control. Two teams of four fairies running in a circle playing grab ass. Zone A captured, Zone A lost, Zone B captured, Zone B lost, Zone C captured, Zone C lost, Zone A captured.....
Zone A lost
Level never really made a difference. If you need reassurance of that FACT (and a memory jog regarding how broken D1 truly was) look into videos of people using Y1 weapons in Y3 Iron Banner. If you were ever personally that much weaker, you should not have been playing IB in the first place.
-
7 RepliesI actually didn't know that higher light characters did more damage. Are you sure it was noticable? Not trying to patronize anyone.
-
Never cared about the advantages anyways, imo that was the worst part of the game mode. When Destiny launched they advertised Iron banner as their high-skill, hardcore gamemode, but then introduced a mechanic that added pointless disadvantage system that made IB less about skill than base crucible (which is already pretty casual). It never really made sense. If it didn't offer good gear, I would never play it. (he'll the only time I played it in D1 was at launch because that was when they had the best looking gear. Once I got the robes and bond I refused to play anymore).

3 RepliesParticipation medals ,being handed out Tuesday.

2 RepliesHunter whining about nonsense? Never woulda guessed

2 RepliesOnly reason I'll play IB this time is so I can play pvp without that supremecy trash. 🤗

How could you possibly know IB has been ruined until you play it? This might be more relevant after IB has dropped and been completed but until then, comments like this have no cred.
-
Get over it At least It’s not rift smile or take a nap
-
Tbh the difference was so negligible because most people were around max, didn't really do anything.

Can we play it first. Then pass judgement? We don't know exactly what IB entails until we play it. Will check back on Tuesday.
-
I never noticed any difference anyway, doesn’t bother me.

1 ReplyThey will most likely add the light level back in once they think most are high enough light. Considering there are only 2 pvp playlists IB will have more players hence more low light levels. No one would like being 3 tapped by mida because one person has put in more hours.
-
Maybe not this month. It's going to take some time for the casuals to get to max power. but there is still time and room for improvement. Fingers crossed!

4 RepliesYou do realize that the so called "power level difference" took about a 30 level difference to have even a 6% damage effect right? Given that everyone was at endgame level, or at least near it, there was little difference in damage at all. Besides, they removed the rank 5 cap. You should be able to get at least 30 reward packages now, and possible even IB rewards from postgame drops.

18 RepliesI am not a complainer, I love this game, but I really need to ask a few questions. Why would you take away the main reason people played a particular game mode? Who thought this would be a good idea? What is the theory behind this very ignorant decision, do you not understand why people play your game? I asked these questions because you have managed to remove almost every aspect of the game, that kept normal people playing.
