Milestone Loot System Rage
What is going on with the loot system? Was smart loot not transferred over from D1?
I have 2 level 20 characters both in the high 290's. This weekly reset I thought, great I might be able to break 300 with them after my milestone engrams.
Login and I do the Clan XP, Flashpoint and Crucible milestones on both characters. I also have 2 clan engrams to open.
So 8 in total.
What does the loot system give me? 6 of those 8 awarded chest piece and power weapon. FYI Chest and Power Weapon were my highest light items on both characters. I have slots lagging 5 or 6 behind my overall level and it is spitting this out?
On top of more duplicate exotics yesterday this induced a warranted rage quit. If the old infusion system was in place it would have been no problem but this is ridiculous.

5 RepliesI am sorry for your bad luck. Pop a team booster coin and go play public events. When the exotic engrams drop you might get something that can help. Unfortunately that is the only advice I can offer.

Ok. Got my Hunter to level 20 10mins ago. Equipped some stuff from my vault to boost my light level including a high 290 Sniper. Turned in my tokens then went to get my first powerful engram for clan xp. Guess what I got? Chest and Power Weapon Chest decided as an exotic. Which was a duplicate of the only exotic chest piece I had on this character and my power weapon slot was the highest light by a mile. It’s actually funny now it is so bad

5 RepliesI think part of the problem with the RNG is that a lot of players stockpile huge amounts tokens (and multiple engrams), and then turn them in as rapidly as they can click. RNGs are only mathematically "pseudo-random" - they rely on manipulating a seed number to achieve a poor approximation of randomness. A common seed number is a CPU-generated time token (I don't know if that's what D2 uses). The closer together the seed numbers, the narrower the resulting range of random numbers. On top of that, because there's only a small number of items that could be in an engram (mathematically speaking), they're probably using bins or a hash table to assign loot. Seeds too close together + narrow range of pseudo numbers + bins/hash = lots of dupes. If you want maximum variety, you want to start with totally different seed numbers, which means you really ought to space out your decryptions and tokens over time. I noticed this directly with the faction rally, turning in hundreds of FWC tokens at a time, and then hundreds of gun parts at a time - SO MANY DUPES. So the next day, I went back to spacing them out, only 1-2 levels each per visit to the tower, and I got much better results, including a few of those pieces I was looking for. Anyway, it's been a lot of years since I studied random number theory. If I'm misremembering, let me know please.

Guy rage quits because the game doesn't give him what he wants. Sounds to me like you have deeper issues if a video game sets you off so easily.

The other pieces? one of each, minus gloves for my hunter and boots for my titan... Also, for weapons @300 LL, 9 SMGs, 6 Pulses, 7 Sidearms 2 Scouts, 1 AR, 1 RocketLauncher... i dont use Pulses, Sidearms or SMGs.

This has been me every week for the last -blam!-ing 3 weeks on my Titan. Every damn exotic engram that says 300 gives me -blam!-ing feedback fences, every powerful engrams gives me gloves. If I never get another 300 gauntlet it won't matter because I have one of every set. I've been stuck at 304 for literally 2 weeks because the exotic engrams that do drop are 299 and consistently give me shit that the preview doesn't have on the list. -blam!- this loot system!

Don't mind the fact that the game gives you easy rewards every week on an unprecedented scale. Rage because it's not what you wanted. What a baby.

Not to defend anything but that's just rng, you got lucky in d1 and not so lucky in d2. We can't have everything we want in a powerful engram or ask my hunter whose arms are still 298 when everything else is 305 lol

I've gotten 9 main ingredients from powerful engrams and clan engrams. More from normal engrams.

Shame your characters aren't linked, I could maybe help. You know about the Mods not counting for your reward drops right? What exotics are you using and what level are they?

1 ReplyI feel you there my power weapon is 305 and every milestone of this week and last week gave me a power weapon. Meanwhile my primary is 296. A solid 5 behind everything else, luckily one milestone shat out an extra primary for my much needed upgrade.
