Guided Raid - Oathbreaker Penalty - Everyone Like to get this fixed

Five in my clan (myself included) running a Guided Raid to help a random. One member lagged out and tried to get back in immediately and got an Oathbreaker penalty... ... ...the game would not let him back in due to this. Kind of a problem. All of us voted after to Abandon without Penalty so we could all leave and then finish the raid with the random anyways. However, we do not get any rewards as a clan or as a player for this. There has to be a way to fix this or why would a clan risk anything negative by running any Guided Games/Nightfall/Raids. I understand the concept behind why Bungie has this but...an accidental lag out and locked out of getting back in is wrong. I've never asked for a like, but if you read this and could like it so it gathers some attention from Bungie to come up with a way around this. (cough...cough...a timer to get back in the game). Ended up going back in the raid after going out to orbit with the random (Silvermain1066) and back into the raid and found out we also didn't have our checkpoint, that's shitty. We are starting the raid fresh anyways again, no big deal, we are still going to clear this for him. I'm hoping Bungie will acknowledge it at least and help us all get this addressed :)

I rarely drop due to having a wired connection and a great service, but I do get a lot of those "attempting to communicate with destiny servers" issues that generally kick you back into orbit for seemingly no reason. I'm not sure if this is just an Xbox issue, seeing as how I remember it doing this frequently while playing the early version and expansions of destiny 1. What I recommend is to play with a wired connection if you can. Even at 2-3 bars of wifi you can still be dropped momentarily.

            • This seems like something pretty obvious bungie would think about before implementing guided games. Add this to the fact that there's no type of reward for a helping clan other than a good oath keepers score and you get the 45+ minute wait times we have now. This system could've easily been better and I hope they change it even if it's just at least allowing the current system to work they way they want it to.

            • Yeah, that new "P2P Hybrid" system is working phenomenally. Before D2 you just got kicked for an activity. Now it can ruin a whole week for you and your teammates. *slow clap*

            • Oh man, that would totally suck if it happened to me. There is a silver lining for me though, you just reminded me of this option. Had some great experiences so far in guided NF as seeker, so tonight or tomorrow it's time to seek some Raid guides. Fingers crossed. Hopefully Bungie will implement some sort of time allowance to rejoin the party, be it due to inactivity, losing internet, etc. 5 mins should be plenty enough IMO. Good luck!

              • I had the same thing yesterday me and 4 of my clamates were running a raid we needed a 6th so we thought we would give guided games a go it was a waste of time the random we had was great but we were all kicked after finishing gauntlet we got the chest and were preparing to open the door for the next encounter when we lagged out We went back in and had to do the whole thing again from the start i can speak for my team when i say FÙCK GUIDED GAMES, never again

                • People keep saying how bad MM would be, but it would only be bad if they didn't add the ability to choose certain requirements. For example only choose from seekers whose light is equal or greater than the lowest light member of the fire team. Allow choice of class. Allow choice of subclass. Allow Mic required. Allow choice between experienced and learner. Allow the clans to guide games if they want or get a qualified guardian to fill a spot. Have a vote kick.

                • Sad to hear about this issue. I like the idea of Guided Games and I was hoping to use the feature somewhere down the line ( when Nightfalls lost the time limit and there was a Raid worth doing ) but this news puts me off ever using it. I'm not sure what Bungie recently did to the net code but I've been experiencing connection issues ever since Monday's maintenance, yesterday alone I was disconnected multiple times while I was in the middle of various activities. At the very least there should be a window of a few minutes where someone can rejoin an activity if they were disconnected.

                  • Great that u guys r using the guided games to help others and push ur clan forward. My clan and I were going to do the same today, but a fresh raid from start to end without any lag outs, sudden destiny errors, or just random log outs due to whatever reason is almost impossible between a group of 6. As mentioned in the comments below, a timer to allow players to join back would be a gr8 idea

                          A timer or a number of "strikes" would be a good idea. Like, if you lag out 3 times then you can't come back, and if an activity is completed your strikes refresh (each part of a raid) I personally haven't tried to use guided games, but I can just imagine how irritating it must be to go back to the start and earn nothing for the same amount of effort. Lag outs and error codes should be detected by the system so crap like this doesn't happen, or at least let them join back, I mean, if I'm there to help people through the raid, even if I don't get anything, at least you kept your oath. Your oath should only be broken if you aren't there to finish the activity, but if you were there after lagging out (and rejoining) and you finished, you're fine, but if you left before the activity was completed, and then completed, is when it should take effect.

                        • GG is just bad matchmaking/LFG. No incentive for a clan to do this. No additional rewards as far as I can tell, the Oathkeeper score is only there to let others know how successful your clan is at carrying others through content. It's an interesting idea, but the LFG system built into Xbox Game Hub is much better, and doesn't add weird parameters around keeping the fire team intact from start to finish. What if I want to run to the tower to dump some engrams while the team is taking a bathroom break? What if I lag out as happened to the OPs group? What if I want to change my class to help for better team balance? Are we really supposed to disband and then reform every time someone wants to leave for a minute? It's probably fine for one-and-done activities like the Nightfall, but good luck getting this to work for long form content like Raids.
