I’ll just leave this here

...wash my hands, and see myself out. No need to reply. I assure you, I’m quite the honest person, and I’ve no intention of sticking around to read replies. I left my, mostly, tactful feedback, for whatever good it will do. I am proud of that. Those of you who are passionate about quality, I feel for you too, and thank you. Not many care deep enough, and even fewer than that ever recognize, let alone respect, the time some of us take to really look deeper, beyond the flashy graphics and dazzling colors, to root out the weeds which choke the garden of video game Edens. Bungie, this is for you, and only you. Not for the fans and not for the players. They’ve done nothing wrong. They are here to simply have fun and, like them, I was too. I saw great potential in your capabilities. And this is not to say you are incapable of still being and doing great. Given the current state of the game, it’s embarrassing. Shameful, even. The fact that many players, to my surprise, argue to defend this game, yet seem to conveniently forget(?) the fact that Y3 Destiny had better incentives for players (read as: replay-ability), blows my mind. There can be only one reason. Your target audience was reached. Very young people. Vanilla Destiny had more diversity in loot...and that’s a fact; baked-in perks means kills the pursuit and need to keep going. Review (Sure to sting some feelings) Gloves are off! If you’re a casual player looking to spend time experiencing Bungie’s first class shooting mechanics, you’re in for a treat. If you’re a returning player who was looking for more, there is trouble up ahead my friend... Having put a great many hours into the game, experienced all it offers, it becomes clear, and fast, that the game turns boring. Loot stops scaling at around the 260 power (previously known as ‘Light’) mark and the only way to power-up higher is the completing of weekly activities, which can be done once per character, per week. Once done, and once you find yourself at the 265/ 270 mark, infusing exotic weapons and/ or getting exotic engrams are your only way to scale up. It’s either mindless grinding for the same loot, of which has baked-in perks (more on that latter) or make new characters to take advantage of being able to do multiple weekly milestones. While the latter sounds appealing, it’s actually detrimental to anyone looking for long term replay ability, because there is no incentive to grind out the endgame activities beyond getting what you get, the first time. With the lost benefit of raid weapons and gear not having raid perks nor even random perks on normal loot, the incentives to keep playing is lost. I reached 300 power very fast using the multiple character method and once there, activities that granted rewards useful to me, diminished exponentially. This is a huge step backwards in a looter game, and that’s the bottom line in this genre: getting better loot. Everyone has the same loot now. There is no more White Whale to pursue anymore. I’ve digressed though and believe that what I am about to say, should be the only thing that needs to be said. More than 90% of the people who have been leaving reviews here for this game, have been comparing it to the vanilla release of Destiny. And this, critics, is not only a mistake, but it shows just how out of touch you are, and have been, with the many progressive changes made to Destiny, up to this point. There were a lot of extra incentives added to Destiny. Post Rise of Iron expansion saw the game in a truly fun position. Gone, entirely, are all the changes that year 3 Destiny had that helped mold the vanilla experience, over time, into a wonderfully rewarding experience. Sequels should retain aspects of their predecessors, for continuity sake. Movie producers and novelists alike know and understand this. However, and I cannot emphasize this enough, more must be built upon that foundation. More. Not less. Destiny 2 is three years behind Destiny: Rise of Iron. Quite literally, we veteran players who stuck with Destiny from day one launch, we are playing that same bland vanilla Destiny experience of 2014, all over again. Critics praising Bungie for the story and fancy graphics, need to stop. Just stop. Those are characteristics that are, in this era of video gaming, come to be expected of any first rate developing studio. Expected! You don’t praise an adult for tying their shoes every day, do you? Unless you have stuck with Destiny since initial launch and up until now, your critiques, opinions even, are entirely moot. Do not buy this game. Maybe, in two years time from now, the game will offer everything that Y3 (Year 3) Destiny does. But, really, who wants a repeat of 2014 again? Hardcore fans are abandoning the sinking boat. Have no illusions, the game grows stale and the casuals, whom this game was clearly targeted at, will leave when they do and will grow bored, fast. Anyone left standing who was a hardcore fan, if any at all by then, will be left wondering if the whole experience was a nightmare and they can finally wake up. Stop spreading false information, critics. You cannot compare this game to vanilla Destiny. In doing so, you are clearly disclosing your lack of intelligence and acknowledgment of the fact that Destiny has, since launch, never seen many expansions and core mechanic changes that have refined the end user experience. Stop. Your. Madness. Search Youtube for a video by “Skill Up.” It’s an hour long review of Destiny 2 and one of which tens of thousands of fans are in agreement with. You owe it to yourself, if you value not only your money, but the integrity of the video game industry. The game is an insult to creativity, ingenuity, inspiration, and takes no risks. Nothing to see here. Nothing you will truly miss. Move along. If you’re looking to critic reviews, or listen to people that tell you to ignore user reviews, ask yourself this: Would you rather take the word of someone who is not knowledgable, in that they are comparing an outdated version of Destiny, minus all the software updates and changes for the past three years, to Destiny 2? Or the word of someone who has put in thousands of hours into Destiny, up to now, and many in Destiny 2? Someone who has skipped three years or someone who has seen them all?

  • I even bought the season pass and am now thinking why did I, can't wait for anthem but by then if bungie don't fix things like trials matchmaking and strikes that are pointless then I and probably many others will move on. Also they missed a trick with the lost sectors that should have had them where we had to do them on each planet like mini quests to level our gear, also as of now they are pointless too.

I agree and I only started with Taken King. I'm kinda baffled at how easy it is to get loot & how easy it is to turn in faction/rep rewards. Back in D1, if you wanted some FWC or NM or DO rep, it took A LOT of items to get that bar to move. Last night after doing the lost sector turn in's I noticed you got 2 purple items for turning in TWO faction rep bundles. For the most part the same thing with Banshee, or any other rep guy on the planet. So what D2 is doing & they didn't learn from World of Warcraft is that just handing out rewards easily is BAD BAD BAD. You need to have things that are difficult in order to get a sense of accomplishment. As I've said over and over the game industry doesn't seem to understand this simple statement and they combine two things. Accessible doesn't mean easy Accessibility in World of Warcraft meant that the majority of the player base couldn't see content not because they weren't good players, it was because it was gated behind 40 player raiding & trying to organize this was a job itself. Accessibility in Destiny 1 meant that the majority of players couldn't raid because Bungie didn't have an easy tool for the masses or clans for people to see that content. Instead for some reason both companies went the route of finally opening the content to smaller groups (like 10 man raiding and now for D2 guided games/clans) BUT on top of that making it sooooo easy that there is no satisfaction of completing it or a carrot to work for. I see this already with D2 and it worries me this game will need a massive rebalance/update/fix to do all this. Coming from D1 and never have done year 1, I thought for sure that it would take months to get some good purples & maybe get an exotic here or there while rocking some blues till we found upgrades through harder content. Like WoW, Bungie is 'devaluing' the color. In WoW before late BC/WotLK, most people were rocking blue gear & if you were good enough to do some end game smaller content that was difficult you could acquire purple gear & those lucky few a lengendary. Then come late BC/WotLK Blizzard decides to just start handing out purples. Purples became the new blue & since blues never mattered anymore since most slots were filled with purples even before you reached the next xpac cap level. Bungie is doing the same thing here. Before I hit 20 I was rocking 3 purples. When I hit 20, within an hour I did you not I had 4 exotics and an absurd amount of purples. Right there that is BAD game design. You are removing any incentive for people to play this game. There has to be a better carrot. I'm watching people do world events that die over and over and over and over and over & these players are rewarded with purples and exotics. That's just terrible. Right now, if Bungie doesn't fix the sheer stupidity of the # of drops you get from chests/loot/bosses/etc & come up with a better gear/leveling system this game is going to lose players super fast.

  • Very well said. As shown by their long track record of failure, and then doubling down on failure, bungie will not listen, as shown by the crap that is destiny 2. All of this has happened before and all of this will happen again until each player stops buying bungie products.

DUDE YOU HAVE OVER 200 HOURS IN A GAME THATS BEEN OUT FOR LESS THEN A MONTH. People like you are what give gamers a bad name. Blaming developers because you burned yourself out on a game. So here's the math. Game has been out for a total of 600 hours You have played for 200 Taking sleep into account it's only possible to play 400. Do you -blam!-ing eat and sleep with a controller in your hand? Do you shower? Work? Girlfriend? ANYTHING?????

    • All of this started with The Iron Lords. Remember planetary materials.? People didn't want to have to grind for materials for upgrades, so we got to buy them. Now we don't have to grind for anything except exotics. D2 is a good game, its just not a a game like D1 and won't have the longevity of D1. The mechanics of D1 kept lots of players from jumping in and playing, but it also is what emmerssed so many guardians and got them hooked like crack addicts. That's why they stuck around for 3 years. Destiny 2 has nothing to keep people wanting to play. There is nothing to achieve or "go for" Its more like a lot of other Activision games, play and then you're done. No replay value. I liked Infinite War, but it also had no replay value. Quiet exit, stage left.

    • Thank you for putting into words what I have felt since I finished the campaign. I was/am a hardcore D1 player with 3 characters at Max light. They all have all 4 raid armor sets at tier 12 builds with full ornaments. I also have all exotic weapons and armor for each class. Yet I still found stuff to work towards in D1. Or would go through and make subclass specific builds using weapons and armor with specific perks to achieve the highest amount of synergy possible. Eg: a voidwalker who would get his Nova bomb every minute and 10 seconds. Point being there was always something to do or to work towards. I'm not mad per say that this game is not what I feel it should be I guess more disappointed than anything. Hopefully in a month or two when they see numbers decline significantly they will make some changes to the end game. Thanks again for your well thought out and expressed post.

    • I'm enjoying the game but it isn't what they hyped it to be. I'm sure it will run it's duration with me and I'll switch games...then come back after a few DLC...but they for sure don't have enough to keep me for a long duration. Anthem just might be the Destiny killer I look forward to seeing

I'm worried their holding these quality of life updates for a dlc and call it content , like heroic strikes , strike scoring . I hope that's not the case.

i'm gonna play other games , too many coming out , i love racing so Forza 7 (on PC) The new Middle-earth: Shadow of War , Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and so many more I even went back to Gears 4 PVP and i was having a blast since they implemented IN GAME PINGS and Connection based MM in September's update . Bungie needs to give me a real reason to stick around in their world other than farming exotics and guns i have gotten 100 times over THE PVP IS AWFUL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not having dedicated servers i can rent like in battlefield titles in a 2017 game that is AAA is beyond confusing , then they have the audacity calling it competitive .

        • The only point I agree with is that guns shouldn't have fixed rolls. It should be random perks like D1 so that when you do finally get the gun you've been after for months, it feels amazing.

          • I had been grinding Destiny 2 for hours since it had come out just to be able to keep up with my friends. Now that I'm at 300, I can do anything. I don't have any desire to reach max light because it's so boring and tedious to do so. I'm honestly burnt out already and will probably only play this game with friends from now on.

            • I swapped over to my xbox tag for this, A lot of the criticism particularly towards the end game in its' current state is justified, I have to be honest I haven't reached that point yet but I've not been playing anything like as consistently as I did with Destiny on release. One thing to note though and this isn't an excuse for Bungie this is more a consideration to take account of, Bungie ran into a big problem with Destiny's original release and throughout it's life cycle, which were the various content droughts, Destiny was punctuated by peaks of high activity followed by troughs once most of the PvE was mastered for a DLC and Trials was generally what was left. As it stands Destiny 2 appears to have a more planned content/event release schedule as it slowly turns on features as time progresses, now to my mind I am in no doubt that some stuff from Destiny will invariably re-appear in this sequel as time goes on, and there will no doubt be accusations of money for old rope, again a justified criticism but something that makes sense when you consider the approach Bungie is taking with Destiny 2. If you are a year 1 player then for sure you will be well aware of some of the backsteps taken or things that appear missing, but this game was not exclusively built for Destiny 1 players, we are all acutely aware in many respects Destiny 2 is acting as a kind of re-launch for the Destiny franchise after the fumbled launch of the original. Now with the above said do not take me wrong I agree (even though I'm not at that point yet) the end game appears to be truncated as it stands, I expect this to be expanded overtime in such a manner as to eke out as many play hours from the player base as possible, the logic being more time in game more chance to buy microtransactions more likely to purchase next large content package. So what I'm saying is I feel Bungie has taken this slowly slowly approach/ steady content release schedule as a direct result of their experience with Destiny 1, this may be the underlying reason why the launch experience feels somewhat truncated to those who have put a lot of time into the game already.

            • I dunno, I played the shit out of Destiny and I'm enjoying D2. And I'm no fanboy, I think Bungie definitely caters to casuals more and more and I hate that, I liked the early grind of very rare exotics and tougher leveling progression ("back when I was a kid, we had to pick spinmetal by hand for hours just to unlock perks on our weapons"). However, I had fun playing through the story, I'm really enjoying the more robust patrol/open planet experience, and I enjoyed the raid and even trials. Overall, as a former frequent solo Crucible player, I don't see myself playing as much in the long run because of the way PvP is structured now, where a fireteam is basically required. But despite binging for the past 3 weeks I'm still not burnt out, and I'm looking forward to upcoming content. I don't give enough of a shit to listen to random losers critique a video game on YouTube and tell me what I should think about it. It's either fun or it's not. I expect the game will evolve over time like Destiny did, hopefully for the better. In the meantime I'm going to keep playing with my friends as long as it's still fun. As far as set weapon rolls go, I think they took it too far. I don't think Destiny had it right, I dropped more than 150 Eyaslunas and not one had rangefinder/rifled, when some people who barely played dropped one that was perfect. That's not incentive, that's bullshit. And complete rerolling was garbage, too. I think weapons could have random rolls (maybe without the 5-10 completely useless perk options from D1) with an increasingly expensive rerolling option for single attributes that then locks the other perks. That way when you drop and almost perfect gun you don't have to dismantle it, but you can't reroll everything willy-nilly for next to nothing. As far as currencies go, I think the simpler, the better. Having 8 different systems is dumb. The caps should be completely gone, however...

            • I hate when people call gamers no life losers but I'm actually okay with this guy being painted with that brush. For an embarrassing, shameful mess of a game, you've spent a ridiculous amount of time on it. I mean, we're talking 10+ hours a day, every day, since release. That is insane numbers to me. Can't imagine why you're tired of it. The game isn't perfect by any means but it's hard to take your criticism seriously.
