As someone who likes to collect gear having everything outside of the Raid and Trials totally RNG is lame. I was so hoping that with Lost Sectors that there would be unique weapons or gear we could grind for. But really it is nothing but tokens and the random engram. I know each planet has it's own set of armor for each class, I have collected at best 1 piece from each planet. But beyond grinding for tokens to rank up the that planets vendor there is no way to really farm for them. And the High Value Targets are not really worth it after level 20, only reason I do them is for the glimmer to try and get a damn Kinetic Reloder mod. As an example in Anarchy Online there was a Battle Axe called the Pained Panther. It would only drop from a certain boss in a mini dungeon. I would make sure every week to go over and farm that guy for a bit. I finally got it to drop and it stayed with my MP for years. But all over the place are little dungeons like lost sectors where a unique pieces of gear or armor would drop. It was not a guaranteed drop but you knew where it dropped and after some time and luck you could get what you were after. Just seems they could have done so much more with HVTs and Lost Sectors. There is a neat HVT on Nessus that is a mini Rockets McDicface that will spawn inside a Cage guarded by Vex. Kill the Vex the cage disappears and you can kill the HVT. I farmed that 5 times last night and nothing but glimmer and tokens. That would be the perfect encounter to have say a unique armor piece drop from. EDIT: Seeing in the comments about how you can do Lost Sectors and HVTs to increase your power level. That is really not what I am talking about. They added all these mini dungeons and unique mini world bosses and they really don't drop anything worthwhile besides leveling up. I want The Son of Rockets McDickface to have chance to drop say a Unique not Exotic but Unique piece of armor or heck even a weapon. Not a guaranteed drop but a chance, that way if someone says oh hey where did you get that helm. I can respond go to Nessus where the wild roses grow, wait around for a bit or check it after doing a public event to see if that HVT is there.
