I'll sum it up.
He gives it a 6/10.
He gave Destiny 1 a 6/10.
Here is a sum up of his reasons for the rating (which means slightly above average since a 5/10 means average from him.)
First, the positives:
-Music is amazing
-Cayde-6 is amazing
-Gunplay mechanics are amazing
-Subclass changes are good
-PvP is fun and well paced
-There is an actual, cohesive story
-Progression is solid
-Clan features are welcomed
-New strikes are better than D1's
-Less "sit in room and fight waves of enemies" missions
-both sky boxes and art are amazing
-cinematic cutscenes and voice acting are great
Now, the negatives:
-One time use shaders
-Raid is extremely tedious and not rewarding enough
-story is basic and cliché
-no in-game Grimoire (an actual codex of lore instead of random scattered lore)
-microtransactions
-epic music plays when nothing epic happens on screen
-poor AI (not improved since D1, enemies stand around and charge single file)
-exotic engrams drop duplicates too often
-you can't choose gamemodes in PvP
-cringy Failsafe dialogue
-little to no insight/story development on the people that actually live in the Last City (no reason to fight)
-lazy copy paste elements (gear, enemies, character creation)
-you get your Light way too early in the campaign
-no sparrow early on (forced to walk long, empty distances)
-low quality textures and effects in some instances
While I still love Destiny and am having a great time in Destiny 2, I agree with Joe on a lot of his points.
This really is Destiny 1.5. It's the Destiny we should have gotten the first time around.
As a long time fan and someone that has played these games religiously since the beta all the way through 3 years, I have to say I am somewhat disappointed in this sequel.
I think Destiny 2 is a "two steps forward, two steps back" situation and agree with Joe's assessment for the most part. Though, I think a 7/10 is more justifiable.
What are your thoughts?

2 RepliesWatched his review. But as a gamer I prefer to form my own opinion on whether I like a game or not. I don't need a Youtuber trying to convince me they are experts and their opinions mean something.
-
1 ReplyI remember when everyone said TTK was D1.5. Make up your mind people. Destiny has its issues and isn't free from criticisms, but every time the fix or change something you guys act like it's the first time they've ever fixed anything.
-
1 ReplyThe raid really isn't as tedious as most think. Once you not only learn, but are comfortable with the mechanics, it really isn't any harder than ant raid that we've had before. It's not even a week old yet we are still learning new strategies, new weapons and for lfgers new players. Give it a month and people will be flying through this raid just like any other we've had in the past.

No idea who "Angry Joe" is but i agree with him. Also add that there is zero reason to play the Crucible as it's boring as hell.

Edited by I NiGhTmArEs I: 9/18/2017 4:54:14 PMreally enjoying d2 so far but it doesn't feel like a sequel and my fears going into the game proved true the lack of innovation is the most upsetting thing about this game also there's far too much recycling of enemies etc and they left out some really cool stuff which was added in dlc for d1 it plays better than the original but that's about it shame rly

Isn't this the guy that liked Suicide squad

I wish destiny was just an expansion

10 RepliesEdited by NeoReaper82: 9/18/2017 7:04:10 AMMan are the fanboys pure cringe. How dare someone make fun of there babysitter. Anthem is going to slaughter this game in sales and scores.

9 RepliesHe didn't even know who Rasputin was.......are you going to take anything he says about the game seriously?
-
7 RepliesIf you compare it to vanilla D1, I think it is a really good foundation to build DLC upon. We're supposedly getting a patrol space on Mercury in DLC 1, so this game could be HUGE after a few DLCs. But I 100% agree with Joe about the grimoire. How hard would it really be to put it in game. And having the same 4 enemy types from vanilla destiny is a big disappointment for me.

2 RepliesEdited by Weeksay: 9/18/2017 9:01:13 AMThere has definitely been way to much recycled. When i saw the taken on IO... -_-

3 RepliesI don't like angry joe. Holding out my own opinion until the first DLC drop
-
I do enjoy the game, and feel that he is a bit to harsh on the game, a 7/10 would have been a better score because there are quite a few improvements from D1. That said I don't think he is wrong, and again Bungie has dropped the ball on some points of the game.
-
This is also the same guy who gave overwatch a 7/10. Watching him play D2 it just seems like it's not his game. I'd take his opinion with a grain of salt

Edited by Doctor Electric: 9/18/2017 8:36:59 AMGonna have to disagree on the microtransactions with Joe here. He gave Guild Wars a pass for their use of the microtransactions, which were all cosmetic, like Destiny. So it's either one or the other, not both. I have my own opinion, but I'm glad he made an angry review after a while of taking that extended break. Also I would've thought he'd compare the story to Destiny 1's story (or lack there of). Seems kind of like a misstep to me, but I don't review things, I make fun of people.
-
Would of got a 7 if he was invited to the reveal, looks like the fans are not the only ones butthurt lmfaoo
-
Edited by WinterWarHawk: 9/18/2017 9:50:56 AMSorry but Angry joe is not good source for if a game is good or not. 1st complains thats to easy then complains the raid is to hard after just one try. Sorry real gamers dont need youtuber to tell them what game to play. -blam!- all youtubers
-
I would add a few more things to both lists giving it a solid 7/10
-
Have we all forgotten that this is a single man's opinion?
-
It was a funny but shitty review. I will never make a fusion to buy a game based off his reviews. Its almost like he looks to deep into what he's playing. He had no idea what he was talking about at points, and he gave what seemed like bias opinions at times. Like comparing someone playing the most tedious part of the raid to bungies reaction to worlds first which he didn't even complete. I'm not trying to say he's awful and Bungie is the god of developers because he was right on a lot of things but I personally will only watch his reviews because their funny
-
When he says Failsafe’s dialogue is cringy, I’m glad I don’t watch YouTube streamers! I still laugh when she calls Cayde dumb in the Inverted Spire strike.
-
I like Joes reviews cause they are really just funny skits sprinkled with his opinions of the game. I don't take anything he says too seriously. I wouldn't base my decision to play a certain game off of his reviews. Remember this is HIS review, not yours. Play the game and form your own opinions.
-
I agree with most of it. Failsafe should be cringy, she's been alone since the Golden Age
-
Angry Joe D1: Raid is to easy D2 Raid is to hard hypocrite as much?
-
End of D1? 7.5/10 Start of D2? 4/10
