I truly hope that the outcry and support against the new shader system reaches you, you realize how bad this decision was, and you are able to patch it out.

THIS IS A POST UPDATE: (Original post name, Dear Bungie, did you mean to disrespect us with this cash grab of a shader system, because that's what it feels like.)
After the extreme response this post has received, both positive and negative I felt the need to make a couple edits to further explain the communities frustration and to help feed the trolls trying to get a rise out of everyone.
1. I LOVE THIS GAME, DESTINY 1, OL' BUNGO, AND EVERYTHING THE HAVE EVER DONE. This is not an attempt to bash them and I understand the original title was a little whiny and it made me look really entitled.
2. Everyone who has an issue with the shader system comes from D1 where we had an excellent system where you could collect and "grind" for special shaders, some of which you had to work VERY hard for. This was a perfect system. It allowed guardians to express themselves and show off a visible trophy to everyone else. By making shaders a single use they take away the appeal of trying to earn shaders in the first place. Why in the world would anyone grind for a couple hours to get a shader that you can use on a piece of armor that will be obsolete after a few more levels. If I work hard for a cosmetic item it should be able to be used again, bottom line.
3. MICROTRANSACTIONS ARE NEVER GOING AWAY AND I GET THAT, BUT I'M NOT GOING TO PRETEND TO BE HAPPY ABOUT IT.
First things first, if your argument is "Well then just don't buy it" you can kiss my lilly white @$$. Seriously if you aren't a troll and this is your honest to god argument you are so far gone. The point, to me and many others, is that we bought a game, plan to buy every expansion they offer, and have no intention of leaving this game to go spend time on another for a long time. But for companies like Activision to try and monetize an incredibly loyal fan base is disgusting and greedy.
I will not be buying anything because that is the best way to speak to a company that only speaks in profits, but the point is we shouldn't have to have a micro protest in a game where these types of items exist. If they want to have exclusive shaders that are only purchasable they can knock themselves out with that but this isn't what this and and you ALL know it.
Reddit update:
All the posts on the front of the destiny Reddit total 70,984 upvotes as of this post. This is clearly a problem and if you don't see some issue with it you are clearly in the minority.
Thanks to everyone for reading, I'm sorry if I triggered you, get back to orbit and lets have a good time!

6 RepliesFor real, they didn't even let anybody know about it until release. It's pretty slimy of them and honestly very disappointing since D2 is a huge improvement over D1.
-
Lol I guess my grinds on Destiny are gunna sound like "Hey wanna go farm this area so I can get more of the same color shader ? I got a new armor piece and I want it to match with the rest of my gear." :) ffs -_-

Dumbest idea ever

They probably have to monitor the situation and see how much revenue they get from people buying loot boxes for shaders. If it's not enough, then they might remove them. You know what happens if it's too profitable to give up, right? Hence why they even added micro transactions in the first place, jamming them into Destiny 1. People defended the practices while Bungie and Activision laughed all the way to the bank. I hope you are all ready for more of the same as long as customers continue to defend and support bad business practices.

1 ReplyEdited by Capt Explodabob: 9/8/2017 10:19:04 AMTake note here. B.net and reddit are on fire over this unquestionably bullshit and flawed system, so much so that people outside of the community are hearing about it. If Bungie doesn't listen to the overwhelming adverse reaction here and actually do something about it, then there's the proof of Bungie's incompetence and naievty when it comes to goodwill and consumer trust. Clearly Activision wants some financial quota to be met, but the way that Bungie has gone about doing so speaks volumes to the integrity of the company as a whole. It's bordering on WB Games scumminess at this point.

Wow thread after thread about shaders. Lets hope they change something in the future seeing so many unhappy about this.
-
Make shaders great again
-
1 ReplyAs of right now, I'm not using any shaders. That's a bad thing. Not only am I stuck looking like a transvestite, I also can't even paint my armor. So much for customization.
-
3 RepliesCanceled my PC pre-order until this gets fixed. Hope you guys are listening to the community and fix this.
-
2 RepliesThe amount of time and effort used to complain about something so minimum is mind-boggling. Wait till the kiddies start whining about every weapon and supers being OP; then the NERF'ng begins which killed game play in D1.
-
I don't see any issues with the new system. 1 time use isn't a problem. You will end up deleting so many anyway
-
I see no harm in waiting for these problems to be resolved. It will only be cheaper with dlc already in December
-
My issue with this is that they don't bind to the gear, allowing you to swap between ones you've already selected onto that individual piece. That's all we really need.
-
3 RepliesI like the new system. You can really appreciate a shader more by waiting for the right equipment to attach it to.
-
4 Repliesas someone who really like customizing my guardian and finding the best shaders to go with this I feel like it really ruins the whole aspect of making your guardian yours and will probably end up hoarding all my shaders but never use them because of the fact that I may not be able to get it again. I know there are many people that feel the same way and hope that bungie will fix this and make them not consumable.
-
11 RepliesThis is pretty unacceptable. This is on top of the fact that we're paying $100+ for the game itself.

Perhaps allow trading of shaders. That way you can trade for the look you want.

Edited by eternal_napalm: 9/8/2017 12:06:42 PMDestiny 2 is an amazing game. I am at work and I cannot wait to get home and play. Good job, Bungie! I agree about shaders, though. To provide constructive feedback, I do not like the new shader system and feel Destiny 1 had it perfect. Please correct this via an update.

1 ReplyShaders in Eververse? I could live with a few premium ones available for purchase only. Single Use? Get the -blam!- outta here. Guess I won't be using too many shaders, just walking around all ugly like, or sticking with one and never changing.
-
Nobody cares about shaders. People are on the wrong gsme if you come here to be a pretty flower.
-
It's not even that bad, stop crying.
-
2 RepliesI love the new shader system. Unlike D1 u can finally make your character look good because I hated the shaders in D1. Im happy the way it is now. Be creative and make your own shader combination art. Glimmer is not a problem if u play alot since I reached 99k quickly already..
-
2 RepliesI have found a bunch of shaders, there's no issue with the system at all. Maybe if you spent less time writing superfluous paragraphs and more time playing you would discover the error of your analysis
-
I still don't see why people are still complaining about this, I have 64 of just a single shader, I am actually hoping that this better system stays
-
1 ReplyNon issue shaders are easy to find. Stop wasting the devs time they need to be in the CABBAGE patch and making new content to keep up with this voracious Community.
