There's no right answer and to be honest I'm indifferent. I don't remember ever switching weapons mid nightfall.

Its not really a subjective opinion. More like looking at the pros and cons of a situation and clearly seeing that the other side is clearly better. In PVP, i switch constantly and did so in PVE, so this applies to me.
