I've been seeing a lot of salt and understandable frustration on the forums about things Destiny 2 is getting wrong. (P2P connections, 2 primaries, MUTE PROTAGONISTS)
However, I've also seen some excitement (New areas to explore, 50 cutscenes in the main storyline, and fresh PvE content)
So I figured this could be a good thread for people to state their opinion in a mature way, and maybe suggest some improvements, so Bungie can actually get some good feedback instead of just hearing "THIS GAME SUCKS, CANCELLED MY PRE-ORDER."
See you starside.

5 RepliesEdited by awallo: 8/9/2017 12:55:41 PMI understand people want to protect destiny 2 but there a lot that doesn't look right about the game. When people express actual concerns about the game and their opinions they're not always trying to hate. I pre ordered destiny 2 and I still am having second thoughts. Ths amount of things missing isn't really being made up for at all by the new things. Being only 30 fps on console, no rumble, no private/custom games, skilled based matchmaking, and no dedicated servers. The game feels like it's going backwards to many and just because you disagree doesn't mean you gotta attack anyone who disagrees.

I was thinking game had.... -More than 2 others at events -Guns you had to aim and not aim assist -Trade weapons -Matchmaking -Not have to get the icebreaker other year 1 weapons twice! -pvp ammo nerf -pvp weapon based -lag in most PvP games and reward them -more people on planets? -no mods for guns -level up system switched 3-4 times -make everything for new gamers and let the vet's worthless -did I say aim assist?

Thay got me with D1 on day one. The game was nothing like thay advertised. Still I stuck in there and definitely had some ups and downs. Then finally the game got to the point that the only thing that mattered was PVP. So forgive me if I'm just a little skeptical of the new game. I've played the free beta and got bored fast in the pve so I moved on to PVP, were I realized that was still the Focus. PVP isn't why I was excited about Destiny. I wanted the pve focused game we were shown so many years ago. If I want PVP I'd play Battlefield or Overwatch, shit even COD. So I'm not going to just pre-order and jump in. I'm going to wait and see how things turn out this time around.

Edited by Who Xur Daddy: 8/9/2017 2:08:14 AMI have two main issues: 1) The attunement tree system is terrible, and leads to less individuality, even though they CLAIM to want everyone to be able to customize their guardian to fit their unique play style. At least with Warlocks, each subclass has an attunement tree that is absolutely useless in their current states. The top tree for voidwalker is terrible simply b/c of the slo-vabomb, and the top tree for the dawnbreaker is just all kinds of broken. The super is nearly impossible to use, but the main thing is that while it is built to encourage arial combat ("it is called "Attunement of Sky", after all), the airborne accuracy penalty makes doing so extremely high risk considering only about 1/2 of your bullets register. Not only does the system itself lead to less customization and individuality (only 2 choices now), but damn near everyone will be exactly the same b/c the other tree flat out sucks. 2) The fact that Bungie clearly sacrificed PvE fun for the benefit of PvP balance.

1 ReplyI've preordered 3 copies of the limited edition for my wife, my son and myself. I've thoroughly enjoyed the first game and have no doubt that I'll enjoy D2. And it may be an unpopular opinion, but I like the dual primaries and a heavy weapon style.
-
I like the look pve adventures, lost sectors?, public events maybe more exciting.

The first post I have seen for healthy debate. This makes me so happy and have faith that the good will outshine the trolls and the complainers. Good for you, my friend.

24 RepliesHonestly, this game feels like a collective of half-measures to address the problems of the 1st game. No story in the 1st? Here's 50 hours of cutscenes! (But your character is mute) Oh, we said your character will carry over? Well, we're going to import him/her! (But you can't edit him/her) Crucible too laggy? 4v4! (The Crucible still lagged) Weapon balance to address sniper and shotgun usage? Eff it! To the heavy slot it goes! (And adversely affecting the PvE) Concerned about ability spam? We'll sloooow the recharge rates! (They'll be slow in PvE too cause cohesion!) Dedicated servers? Screw that, we'll go hybrid! (Still uses p2p and that horrid SBMM) Solo player wanting to raid? Introducing Guided Games! (Still needs a clan to take you in, and no Hard mode for you) And I have a bad feeling there are more to come. Hell, there may be some I'm forgetting as of now.

I am going to buy. Destiny one was well worth the money (for the most part) Having shit chopped up and resold to us was a bit dubious....... But looking forward to # 2.

Edited by joey big guns: 8/8/2017 1:30:54 PMThey don't care about feedback because the only feedback they care about is what comes from the whiny pvpons. They don't care because no amount of people hating their new weapon system will change it. They've made their decision and you either accept that you'll be running around in all those pretty looking areas with a redundant weapon system, a mute character and some abilities to mess around with every hour. You can tell they don't listen because players asked for primary burn weapons back, not two primaries with one set dedicated to burn weapons. Given the option I'm sure many would prefer a kinetic, special and heavy. I do t really care about all the PvP fanboys and Johnny fat thumbs who like how Bungie has neutered PvP. Once again, this change seems more geared to change in PvP rather than PvE. Sure the beta looked nice. The story mission was fun, the strike was fun. The weapon system is stupid, the slow ass ability charge rates make it somewhat boring, what's the point of having super powers if you don't get to use them? PvP was so boring, it felt like every crybaby over the last three years finally got their blanket nerfed PvP. Why couldn't Bungie create a crappy 4v4 more with no abilities for the crybabies and leave the fun for us or vice versa? The beta was boring, I don't see how the actual release will be any less. It'll still ha e the crappy weapon systems and it'll still have that lame ass PvP. Preorder isn't canceled but I haven't really seen any reason not to other then two friends want me to get it.

50 cutscenes and we are stuck with a mute protagonist? That's gonna be lame. Like, I know our guardian didn't say much in D1 but still....

1 ReplyLots of fantastic games have mute protagonists. Fallout, Skyrim, Doom, Halo... Think about how much our characters actually spoke in D1. It was minimal and didn't add all that much to the game. I personally think it makes our guardians more bada$$. Like we don't have time to waste with words, our actions speak way louder. As for the other complaints, wait and see. Many changes have been made already and D1 was patched a fair amount after it came out with fixes and updates. At the end of the day, it's just a game. Either you'll enjoy it or you won't. Don't take things like this so seriously.

2 RepliesThe new health/ shield ratio makes crucible feel different. Seems to me if you don't wait till you back to 100% (which takes ages) you at more of a disadvantage than in D1, it's almost impossible to win the gunfight if even slightly under 100% Maybe shield doesn't kick in till you back to 100% or something, not really sure, but it is noticeable.

16 RepliesI only see salt on my crackers. Why destiny 2 sucks 1) 30fps 2) missing content on XBOX/PC 3) no free-for-all 4) super easy casual aimed campaign 5) boring muliplayer

There is always something to complain about....

I'll just leave this here. C'mon Sept 6th! Does anybody have a tardis I can borrow? I'll send it straight back to ya!

1 ReplyWas so excited for destiny alpha release and have played it ever since. Got bored about 6 months ago, and was looking forward to d2 beta. Played beta for about 3 hrs and deleted it. I only put in just over 1000 hrs to d1 which is nothing in comparison to some i game with, but i can't tell if im just "over it" after d1 or if the beta was REALLY piss poor..... yes i know it was a beta, but it just didnt excite me like d1 did. Preordered, but if im honest, not hyped in the slightest, looking forward to the new story content, once that's done, i think that'll be all from me, no more pouring of hours into it. It should have always been primarily a pve game, but what else do you expect from activision.... and i love pvp gaming, but destiny was my escape from that... ended up being ruined by it.

Edited by TheCyo: 8/8/2017 1:52:54 PMI've never seen any other game emphasising the number of cut scenes in their marketing material. This gives me some doubts about Destiny 2 and the rest of the game.

The problem is a healthy debate is always grounds for arguments. My opinion is my opinion and no one will change it. We all play differently. But, I'd welcome a healthy debate if anyone cares to try. Destiny 2 is better in a few ways, but worse in more. THE GOOD - graphics - animations - class abilities - in-depth story - lots of new content THE BAD - two primaries - two path skill tree - 4v4 pvp - sluggish movements - weaker weapons - weaker abilities/supers Personally, the bad stuff revolves around how the game performs. You can have a great story, with amazing graphics and animations... but if the game mechanics don't measure up, then it's a bad game. After all... you play the game. The way you play should be important. I feel Destiny 2 lost it's fun... there no enjoyment. I can't customize a guardian with specific abilities and perks. I can't take my individual play style and mold it into my own character. It's lost that feeling where my guardian is mine. Bungie could have taken Destiny 1's skill tree and expanded on that... not narrow it down. I get the feeling most of the customizations will be in shaders, skins, and ornaments... all for an additional microtransaction purchase. Secondly, I feel two primaries are a huge waste. Not only does this instantly make all enemies stronger, but you are also a lot weaker. Bungie should have made 1 primary slot, 1 power slot, and 1 utility slot for any weapon you want. They could even expand the utility slot for extra grenades, ability charges, or ammo storage. To me that makes Destiny better.... but once again, Bungie narrowed it down. Finally... 4v4... wow. This screws every solo player out there. For me, a big part of Destiny was the pvp. I always play solo and enjoy it immensely. 4v4 is not good at all. I can see only one reason Bungie did this... and that was so more teams go on Twitch and stream more games. Trials is huge on the weekends for Twitch. I can imagine now 24/7 sweat festivals. Bungie is planning pvp to be this great world gaming event with Destiny on the banner. And again... narrowing of the game. Bungie should of expanded to 8v8 or larger war battles. That is fun. Like I said... many will probably disagree with me... but that doesn't make my opinion wrong.
-
A healthy debate will be list all the pros and cons of D2 after 2 months of its release.
-
Bungie will never win no matter what they do to Destiny 2 and beyond. Someone will always complain. First no one likes it because it doesn't have a story so they put a story in 2 but now those people don't like that story because you lose all your gear. The same gear that made the game boring and in need of fresh content. Well, here's the story and the new content. "Oh but it's just an expansion, we know this just by playing the beta".....you see?
-
1 ReplyI think we have to play the game to understand the mathematics behind their choices with some things... But the pve changes are more in line with what everyone wanted. The number 4 for pvp though makes no sense. 6 to raid, 3 to do pve... if a group of friends are have a strong core to do raids etc... they now have to choose who goes into pvp as a group leaving two behind instead of getting new raid weapons, being excited to try them, and then go into pvp together using said weapons. Now it is, ok, two of you have to go find your own game while the 4 players go into pvp. That is my only gripe. Yes, there could be more nitpicking, but we all know everything will change over time. That what you buy on release day will not be fully the same 6 months later. My next fear is the raid. This is the part of the game that truly defines how much bungie is really trying. It needs to be mysterious more than anything. It needs to grab players and suck them into the game like the vog did. We spent hours upon hours hunting throughout the vog looking for anything. Bungie needs to hit this out of the park and actually put secrets in the raid for those that want to hunt through every inch of the raid. Rather than that, I am excited to play. I know I will get my value out of it and if it somehow fails... no biggie. It's a game.

2 RepliesI think the biggest issue surrounding D2 is the fact that since D1 the game has gotten a strange stigma of hate towards it. The problem comes in with the fact that D2 is a sequel and is doing everything any other game companies sequel would be, expanding on the last game not making a brand new game. Games are always like this but for some reason people only take notice to it when it's destiny. It's almost like a brainwashed game community imo.

I'm would be the best game of all time if they would have just decided to drop PvP and focus on what made Destiny so great. Now, it's just going to be mediocre, which is worse than being bad.
