Based on the menus it looks like...
...we're going to be able to use mods to switch the element of our weapons.
...we're going to be able to use shaders on our weapons and ship.
2 things people have been asking for in Destiny for ages, but no everything is terrible and Bungie never listens to us, that's the big takeaway from all this.
EDIT 1: Slugger4489 brought up some more.
Fast travel points, not having to go to orbit between every jump, and guaranteed public events too
EDIT 2: It seems a lot of people here don't understand the point I'm trying to get at. I'm not making any statement about how good or bad I think Destiny 2 will be and I'm not saying people shouldn't voice their concerns. This post is targeted at a very specific mentality that many forum users have held for a long time now and which has been a major contributing factor to these forums becoming as toxic as they are.
This idea that Bungie never listens to us and doesn't care about what we think has to stop. There is so much evidence that they do. Just to name a few things these forums asked for that we got:
- Multiple vault size increases.
- Equitable melee weapons.
- Ways of making old content relevant again (infusion, revamped raids, etc.).
- Private PvP.
- A freaking giant Shank boss. (honestly who would've thought they'd take that one seriously?)
and there has been so much more. But time and time again in the wake of problems impacting the game everyone seems to ignore the positive and pretends that everything is awful and there's no chance for improvement and Bungie is intentionally trying to ruin the game for us and bla blabla blabla.
All I wanted to do was put a spotlight on a couple things I thought Bungie did right by this community in the hopes that maybe some people would see that there are some positive things to talk about, that's all.

25 RepliesEdited by Unforgiven: 7/26/2017 5:49:32 AMthis game is trash. Who cares about Gun shaders? Does anybody actually give a shit about what their gun looks like? Maybe we cared about it 3 years ago, but at this point I rather have a fun game than some shitty gun shader or a screensaver for the orbit. I personally didn't like the beta. I thought it was way worse than current version of Destiny. Not only did they take the fun out abilities, they increased cooldown on everything. I understand that this is a new game, but if it aint broke don't fix it. Did anyone ever complain that ability spam was making the game worse?

1 ReplySaber-2 isn't a shank?
-
And also guns don't take up half the screen when you aren't ADS
-
6 RepliesGreat, so I'll be able to apply a different burn and shader to my completely boring and significantly under-powered gun, which will hopefully distract me from the fact that I can't use a fusion rifle and sword while running strikes anymore. Fun!

Of course D2 will have some minor and major good points. The problem is there are too many major bad points that are clearly a downgrade.
-
The reason no one talks about it is because it should have been in the 1st destiny. All they did was hold back everything we asked for and were like "Hey, remember all that stuff you asked for in D1? Well you're going to have it all at the launch of our brand new game!" They could've added all of that stuff in D1, but chose to do the "financially" smart decision and hold it all off until D2. That way, they can use all of that as a selling point. It should've been the standard in d1. Instead, they implemented it into the sequel and now people aren't as excited about those features because they know nothing of the game just yet. What if there are only 3 shaders? What if once you use a mod to change the element type, you can never change it again? What if the "fast travel from director" takes just as long as coming in from orbit, and only has 3 landing zones per planet? Each a small distance away from each other. A lot of what ifs, but only time will tell. Better to hold off the excitement until we know the full details

It wasn't just elemental mods, There are 14 empty slots so things like FIREFLY, GRENADER, ARMY OF ONE, HIDDEN HAND and other perks that we were occasionally force rolled with and had to dismantle over and over till we got a better roll. Now we can customize our weapons. Though they meet us half way as you noticed , there are 2 fixed mod slots with selectable. How to get the mods. That's the question.
-
38 RepliesSo those private matches we asked for and they gave us were a big thing right? Any other game would have it since day 1. Im sorry other games have it day 1. Bungie waited til a content drought happened to implement it. Even though they had the technology to do it yr 1. Nah they treat their customers like crap. The fact everything has gone to hell more and more every week since age of triumph launched should be proof enough.

I think those things go largely ignored because even if you lay it on a bed of rose petals, a heaping pile of turd is still a heaping pile of turd. In the midst of agonizingly slow ability charges, the overwhelming feeling that absolutely EVERYTHING in the player's arsenal has been severely nerfed across the board to appease sweaty PvP jarheads who probably won't even buy the game anyway, and several other major core changes that make D2 feel like a far departure in the wrong direction from D1 (which had its own controversy to overcome), tiny little tidbits like weapon shaders (serves absolutely no functional purpose) and elemental mods (more or less "achievable" in D1 through the varied roll system) lose any impact they might have had. That these mods are primarily for "energy" weapons that are a very, very, VERY poor replacement for SPecial weapons (made all the more painful by the insulting lack of power in the so-called "power" weapons) only makes it worse. People still wanted these changes, sure, and taken separately they might be happy about it, but there are far larger and more pressing matters overshadowing these minor perks. It's kind of like if Bungie said they were buffing D1 hand cannon reserve ammo but hand cannon damage was being nerfed into the ground, sticky grenades would no longer stick, rockets would now detonate within 15m of being fired regardless of any other factors, and supers will now take 20 minutes to recharge. Nobody's going to care about the reserve ammo buff when so many other aspects of the game went to pot alongside that change. That's how it is here. D2 is changing so many other things, and not for the better in far too many cases, that what few improvements are being made have fallen through the cracks, because they're not significant enough improvements.

1 ReplyEdited by randmgamr: 7/26/2017 2:10:14 AMNice point! Let's face it. Every game, job, class, restaurant, spouse, and even social groups have pros and cons. Good and bad things come from anything in life. The fact that each of us think that we have a say in something like a videogame is laughable. Hate on me if you like but if the biggest concern you have in life is with a game, then your life is envied by more people than you think. Good luck to everyone in D2. Let's enjoy the next round and try to make the community a more positive atmosphere.

1 ReplyMah-whoo-siv BUMP right here, I'm so happy that someone else isn't completely filled with salt about everything this game has came out with, and can recognize that we as a players have got the things that we have asked for. I don't understand how the salty ones can complain so much about this game yet still play, still come to this forum and spread all of their negativity. As if I'm going to get behind them or anyone else, and their salt. Why is it such hard concept to understand that this is a Beta test, the Super timer will be adjusted, the radar will be adjusted, the content will be adjusted, everything that you're salty about, has been or will be adjusted. If it's not adjusted then obviously it wasn't anything pertinent enough to be addressed to be adjusted. I know this won't go anywhere and yes I'm salty about the salt, but jeez, it's ridiculous.
-
8 RepliesRemember forum goers are the vocal minority at all times. People who are happy love and enjoy the game arent looking for a place to shit talk it. The forums will always give you a horribly negative slant so remember to take the forums consensus opinion with more than a grain of salt.
-
4 RepliesShips are just loading screens, don't care. Weapon ornaments and shaders, don't care lol
-
Because the changes come too late, most things we wanted where part of the game until Bungie removed them, others shouldn't have taken 2 years to fix, like making old content relevant knowing full well none of it would move over.
-
1 ReplyIll take a good PvE experience over a few crappy shaders tbf, cause the PvE we got with this was lacking.
-
Because there's more use for shaders no one should be pissed about this travesty? God damn you.
-
People asked for sparrow racing and they gave us sparrow racing league. Maybe it wasn’t quite what we was hoping for but it was still fun.

Destiny 2 bouta be lit as -blam!-

After seeing IGN's video on Nessus exploration I'm really excited to jump into patrol

1 ReplyIf I can allow my speculation to run wild I'd like to say what think how Mods work. The description for mods is that they add or improve perks, I'm sure we've all noticed that theirs less perks on the weapon in d2 beta (as it's just a beta there could be more in a weapon), bungle stated they didn't want to make getting repeated loot meaningless so I think that you gets mods by dismantling those weapons, essentially they replace farming for god roll weapons for getting that sweet mod that will make your gun better. This is the solution (If done correctly) to the communities desire for rerolling for weapons, the difference is you have more control over it, which means you have more of a attachment to your weapon. And this means true customisation for your weapons and armours
-
2 RepliesExcited to see where the shaders go with this. Will you have to collect shaders for each individual armor piece? Reminds me of the times I ran around with no shader on just for kicks. Anyone else do that?
-
Good post. I get what you're saying.
-
This community has a bad habit of making tons of noise for things it doesn't like. Then remaining silent about things it does like, or that it always wanted and finally got. I noticed the mod thing, it'll be a cool idea if implemented correctly.
-
3 RepliesMaybe people aren't pointing it out because the concept of weapon skins is well over a decade old from being common place in fps games? And you are ASSUMING that you can get mods and use them to change your weapons element. For all we know, the slot is locked and it's only there to show you if the weapon is the regular or elemental version..
-
3 RepliesI'm wondering if locked loadouts will affect the ability to change the burns on our guns.
