Swords as Energy Weapons in D2?
just think how cool this would be. then you could have lots of sword ammo to have fun with. of course they would have to be nerfed from their current form as heavies but i think this would be so cool

Nope. Because of PvP decisions we can't have to choose between a sniper and a sword and rockets. Who's excited to have 2 primaries in a raid? Garbage.

That would be cool. I'm very much aware of the fact that Bungie hasn't really commented on the presence of Swords in Destiny 2. We know they are in there, you get a Legendary Sword if you pre-order the Limited Edt. or the Collectors Edt. however Bungie hasn't stated on whether they will be a Power Weapons or Energy weapons, and to be honest it can go either way.

If kinetic and Energy weapons run off their own ammo then an energy sword would be possible. Considering swords are a close combat only choice and have little if any utility against bosses I wouldn't see this being that bad outside of PVP of course.

I feel like Destiny 2 will have a lot of swords and similar type weapons. They could have shield and staff Exotics to match the subclaseses.

I think it would be cool if they gave us a low level kinetic sword early in the game, instead of waiting till post game and getting only legendary or exotic ones like D1

We can have swords in all three slots but if there aren't assassination animations is it really worth it?

It's a bit debunked, unfortunately. In the Gameplay Reveal trailer, we see a Guardian shooting at Cabal with the Sunshot, an Exotic Energy Hand Cannon, with a Sword upon their back.

4 RepliesI doubt it. If they were nerfed from their current form then they wouldn't really be worth using. They're already pretty ammo efficient as far as heavies go. They're fine in the power slot.

Would certainly be fun having access to a melee weapon more readily than with power ammo. No idea how it would play into the weapon loadout system in terms of damage and utility. Maybe leave blocking and fancy perks to power-slot melee weapons and have energy swords be pure attack?
