I really hope this isn't true. Grinding for that perfect gun is what made destiny so replayable.

There are so many pros and cons to this decision that Bungie has made. I guess I will just have to wait and see.
-
It is true and I don't see why this is a bad thing. You no longer have to grind for that God roll, and weapon balance will be easier to control because of it without nerfing entire archetypes.
-
I personally like the change. But then again what finally broke me from my Destiny addiction was the RNG.

One of the first good things I've seen on destiny 2

46 RepliesIf you haven't noticed, huge number of guns already have curated (=fixed) rolls in D1. And these are weapons that people have grinded hard for (Fatebringer) or grinded even harder to mimic (Imago). What this system has the potential to do is for you to immediately know when the weapon you wanted dropped and not have to go through that phase of "OMG I finally got the grasp to drop!!!!!' And its garbage." It's also going to let Bungie balance those weapons by making sure they all perform their job well, but none of them are god rolls. People who like grinding for God rolls are going to hate this. But people who just like collecting loot are going to love this. Think of it this way: If you count activity and faction specific weapons then we currently have at least 18 (+\-) of each weapon type (the number is actually way higher because there are multiple hand cannons for some vendors/activities) I.e there is a legendary hand cannon for: Crucible reward, strike reward, iron banner, Trials, all four raids, new monarchy, dead orbit, FWC, weapon smith foundries queens, judgment, vanguard, and crucible faction. In Destiny 2 there are 6 kinetic weapons, 6 energy weapons, and 7 power weapons. Which means, at minimum using the x18 from above, there would be about 342 legendary guns that have been uniquely built. At its core, this wouldn't be different than what we currently have, because everyone does their best to use the same roll on about 20 guns anyway. However, this will create a ton of room for Bungie to make a lot more interesting and desirable weapons because they can deliberately pick weapons that have a good matches. It makes crucible far more balanced because you're not getting steam rolled by the guy lucky enough to get a perfect grasp drop or ..dedicated.. enough to spend a hundred hours farming omnigul. However, this is also an improvement in PvE where you'll have a specific way to get the gun you want for an activity.

Way better that way!! I don't k ow how many times I got good guns with shit rolls! Plus now we won't eat up vault space with replicas of the same gun!
-
I like it. Should be more enjoyable and less time chasing guns, more time using them.
-
5 RepliesWow. You -blam!-ing ppl will never be satisfied. All I've heard the last 3 years is ppl bitching about the endless grind and now you're bitching that they are taking a lot of that grind away. Bunch of -blam!-ing children who have no clue what they want and will bitch about any and everything.
-
PVP continues to suck the life out of the game. Well played Bunghole.
-
Yes that's what seems to be happening but what we don't know yet is what will be replacing that grind if there's anything at all. I just can't see Bungie getting away from something that kept players come back without doing it a different way. I was disappointed at first too when I heard about it but I'm going to wait for more info before I go crucifying anyone.
-
Ok i can see this. It was mega satisfying to get a god roll eysluna/ palindrome or a great shotgun back in the day. But think about how many disappointing rolls you also got. If there are still worthwhile guns to grind for, it will be fine.
but if the majority of perks on the majority of guns suck, we gonna have a problem
4 RepliesIF YOU WOULD LISTEN FOR A SECOND. This is true. ALTHOUGH Don't freak out. There is going to be a new feature connected to getting multiple of the same weapon. Something about exciting to to get your 3rd, or even 10th duplicate. Probably some strange weapon mod thing. Hasn't been revealed yet. HAVE SOME PATIENCE
-
All Trials weapons have the same perks - as in the burning eye doesn't drop with different perks (or does it?) Anyway, the problem is that most guns will now never be usable and most people will only use a select few.
-
just because there won't be variation in weapon rolls doesnt mean that "perfect" gun might not exist. i honestly hope it doesn't because it would just be like now no variety.
-
1 ReplyBy doing this they will be able to nerf/buff each weapon instead of the archetype, so in turn will make balancing PvP a lot easier for them.
-
3 RepliesIf you also read, there finding something to fill that void
-
I just want to wait and see how many legendary guns of each type there is first before I judge this decision. Also I'm going to hoard any duplicates like a madman, I'm curious to know what their ideas are.
-
Some are just lazy and want, want want, it all with little or no effort and Destiny is feeding the Beast. and the Beast Throws money at the SCREEN.so those of us who liked that RPG element are SoL.
-
I wonder how many different guns those will be
-
Bet a lot of you who are bitching about random perks being taken, are just fine with 4v4. smfh

19 RepliesI have a feeling it's like this example below, using a made up weapon. The way it is in D1, we can get "The Eagle." It can have sight A or B. Rangefinder or explosive rounds Outlaw or third eye. No matter how we configure it, it's still called "The Eagle." There are other weapons of the same archetype, and they are called "The Raven" & "The Falcon." All 3 of these weapons are pretty much the same with minor differences in stats, and can have the same perks. No matter how we configure them by selecting nodes, they are still called The Eagle, Raven, & Falcon. If you Nerf or buff the Eagle, the Raven and Falcon also get buffed or nerfed. In Destiny 2, my guess is it will work like this: The Falcon, Eagle, & Raven will have pretty much the same stats with minor differences. If you get one of the three with Sight A, Rangefinder, and Explosive Rounds, then it has a different name. So the Eagle with those particular perks would be called the Eagle Claw, or the Bear, or whatever the name ends up being. You can get the exact same gun to drop with Sight B, Rangefinder, and Third Eye, and it is now called the Penguin. So if you nerf or buff the Penguin, the Eagle, Raven, Bear, etc. are all unaffected because each roll counts as it's own gun as opposed to being counted as one archetype with different names that each have a set perk table. If it is done this way, I don't think it would be a bad thing. Imagine now I got an Eyasluna. It has Rangefinder. Someone else gets an Eyeasluna with Explosive Rounds. Mine is called the Eagle, theirs is called the Raven. If Explosive rounds on this archetype are too OP, they Nerf the Raven, but the Eagle stays the same. I hope this is how it ends up working out.

2 RepliesYou can thank trails.

6 RepliesNo more loot in a loot and shoot game lol

We don't know if there are ways to modify the weapons with particular loadouts or items in different slots. One good thing is if guns don't work it's bungie's fault. Not random numbers. Next and most important thing is how static rolls enable balance. Pvp is no longer balanced based on the best possible roll of a gun. We all grind for the god roll because it's obviously great and the most competitive option. In a game like borderlands that's fine. You can keep grinding the boss. For hours until you get a decent, good or great gun. Destiny has limited drops per week including weapon, armor, item, and nothing as possible loot. After you get lucky with a drop it can be worthless because of random perks. Double rng with weekly reset locked chances. There should be no bad weapons or perks. Just drops that don't fit your play style or character build.

Yes.....it's true. Yet another reason I won't be purchasing D2.

Edited by Obi Wan Macaroni: 7/1/2017 5:34:34 AMHappy now stupid people?! Your crying has lead to this. "Nerf this, WAH, nerf that". now they are getting rid of a lot of things that also affect PvE again... 😣
