looks like Call of Duty on an Overwatch map.
I am not impressed.
edit: what i meant to say was that it looks like Halo, in a Call of Duty game mode, on an Overwatch map. heh.

Halo pvp (really thinking of h2 and h3) was the most fun I have and probably will ever have had playing. Everyone had the same weapons. You had to make a push for power weapons, and then only 1 or 2 people could even have power weapons. It was balanced. It also required great aiming skill, grenade placement, and map awareness. That's why h2 and h3 dominated the mlg circuit at the time. Nothing was better or required more skill So if the game is becoming more like halo(granted, it has sprint, and other crazy shit) I will embrace it with open arms.

2 RepliesHalo was my first love, so I am ok with this. Honestly Halo pvp was leagues better than Destiny's anyway.
-
Yeah... it's a video game. They tend to have some things in common.
-
I see what you mean, that's literally what it looks like. We haven't played it yet, it might be even better. I'm also pretty sure we only got to see one map, so this post is more of a shot in the dark than a logical conclusion that pvp is doomed.

They looked nothing like Overwatch maps. I think you've come into the forums to be a little whiny b***h. Please vacate yourself and stop being a negative s**t.

Edited by Jy-Seven: 5/21/2017 11:51:36 AMSame seeing the gameplay it was easily big enough for 6v6 the 4v4 for that game mode makes sense but something like clash, control or rift 4v4 is going to be empty, less random factors that makes 6v6 right now fun even if laggy and sticky's. I can deal with the overwatch style looks and other stuff, its kinda still destiny but not, creates a different feel for better or worse depending on preference. Main thing is 4v4 only for what? competitive esports? Sure would be great for the game but if it's for lag then no because it's still p2p connections and 3v3 already lags now. Specials in heavy slot this I hate so much, Using 2 different ranged primaries is a new way to play or old way since that's what initial destiny alpha was going to be but they changed it to primary and secondary which made it pretty successful and alot of fun whether you used sniper, fusion, shotgun or sidearm. At least give us options to use primary with primary or primary and special. Leave heavy alone. Balancing is a hard act and hard to please everyone but this new layout with only power weapons and super to OHK and slower ttk with guns will be less fun than destiny now, grenades can't kill anymore apparently, not even a decent incindenary grenade. Right now having special and heavy creates different factors and surprises also with the unique abilities and supers, yes some are annoying but always different and many ways to play. I don't see that with the new changes looks too passive, if a good grenade can't ohk anymore and two people are pushing me with slower ttk with no weapons like special the player can just run through the grenade maybe even with power weapon ready. Right now I can cut one off with grenade maybe even kill him then primary or special it out with the 2nd player and win or trade to get the double or get cleaned up by a 3rd lol Destiny looked more fun but since its new and only having watched a little gameplay, things could change hopefully for the beta. 😅

3 RepliesEdited by bill_westie: 5/20/2017 4:31:00 AMIt does look a lot like Overwatch. The colours are more oversaturated and cartoon like. The new shield mechanics look straight out of Overwatch and the animations look over the top. The weapons no longer look remotely realistic. Of course D1 weapons were fictional but most looked like they were grounded with some sort of reality in mind. Gone. Supers in action now looks like a platform game. If you put it in cinematic terms. Destiny 1 was a Sci-fi movie and Destiny 2 is Anime. Great if you want to play an Overwatch clone but if i had wanted to play Overwatch I would buy Overwatch.

Looked like Overwatch on a Cod map to me. Lol. Not sure I liked the very very slow time to kill.

2 RepliesI would like to see less overwatch abilities, and what about fusion rifles?
-
Agree

7 RepliesIt was ONE map It was ONE game mode

5 Replies4v4 to reduce strain on the p2p system instead of giving us dedicated severs No mention on fixing their crap net code Crucible is still going to be exactly the same as far as coding and lag goes They are just trying to cater to their baby streamers with smaller game modes and band-aid p2p l

1 ReplyGuarantee we'll see this guy posting again calling something to be Nerfed in Destiny 2.
-
Because we saw one map, one gamemode, and a fraction of what's new in terms of weapons and abilities?
-
The difference being that Overwatch, Call of Duty, and Halo all have standardized weapons. The performance of Destiny's weapons is determined by RNG perk rolls.
-
9 RepliesPpl that actually have skill and use primaries rather than spamming nades will thrive in d2. Destiny will finally have skill gap

I'm actually sort of happy for the changes made to crucible. Destiny 1, by the time of Rise of Iron, got too fast 4 me. Titan skating, warlock skating, hunter shadesteps. I prefer slower shooters (R6 Siege, Counter Strike, Overwatch) so I'm happy to see how these changes work in the beta/full release. However, I think they need to include some 6v6 playlists or game modes. I can't quite see combined arms working with 4v4 (if they even brought that mode back, which would be cool cause of the tanks). Don't see why we can't have both. The new countdown mode looks perfect for 4v4, but I don't see control, rift, or team death match working out the same way. Hopefully we get those 6v6's back in some shape or form (because too often I have 4-5 friends on at time and we can't do anything but crucible).

It looks to be more competitive and team based. If that's not for you, it's not for you. It's for me though. I'm happy Bungie made this move.

17 RepliesI love the extended ttk

Completely agree Skylanders comes to mind.

6 RepliesEdited by CaffeinatedComa: 5/20/2017 5:23:07 PMI've heard they've made some pretty big changes to trials too. It's actually possible that you can go 8-0 in 24 minutes, confirmed. ⚪️⚪️⚪️⚪️⚪️⚪️⚪️⚪️ 🔴
really though, love the gun engagements now. Where are my Halo boys at?
The noob tube is coming to Destiny..... Prepare.

1 ReplyI just watched a match all the way through (finally had time) I thought it looked pretty good. I mean, the guy playing was really bad and spent most of his time hiding at the back of the map and never won an engagement (then blamed it on being a PC gamer...in other words can only play with a mouse], but i think I'll like it. I would rather have seen it from the point of view of someone else though. This guy was so bad he was super killed twice by the same player before he even got his own super.

2 RepliesI'm guessing that Blizzard added some input to PvP, because it does feel a bit like Overwatch in my opinion. I didn't like Overwatch, it just wasn't my thing. I get why a lot of people love it, it's just not my style of game. I'm really hoping that it feels more like current Destiny gameplay with a few tweaks, I really like the current core gameplay. Rather than changing it so drastically, I think proper weapon balancing would have done just fine.

2 RepliesDid all the jump abilities get toned down? And all the grenades get nerfed? The high mobility and unique and fun grenades were an important aspect of what made Destiny PVP feel so unique. I loved Halo back in the day, but Destiny was even more fun for me.
