As everyone is well aware trials has been a major influence in nerfs and buffs. I think the majority of the playerbase doesn't like trials or play it anymore. It was fun when it first came out and the games you get matched with are random people. Now it's complete trash and brings out the worst in people.
I think we can all agree that trials has had a negative impact on the game. So I say for destiny 2 we remove it and replace it with some other competitive pvp.
Edit - wow so many replies and likes. Thanks
Im not saying remove competitive pvp, I love watching sweats and high intensity games on YouTube and twitch, what I'm saying is elimination as a game mode brings out the worst in people and what's fun in being shouted at by team mates for making the wrong play in a important situation in a game of trials. I would like to see a trials game mode of skirmish or zone control, something competitive but not elimination. The top pvp players obviously like trials but that's a small percentage of the player base and the nerfs that affect PVE because of trials are ruining the game. Look at special ammo for example
Edit 2 cosmo replied. I'm done
Edit 3 to all the people saying trials should stay. I agree, the concept of trials of osiris should stay and it's good to have a competitive game mode that makes people want to try their best. What Im saying is the state that trials is in has caused a lot of messed up stuff in pve.
1) skorri nerf - in a raid we now have to wait double the time to get our supers before a boss
2) special ammo is all messed up
3) constant nerfs of weapons
The post was made with a view to change the way trials of osiris is like have either a skirmish, zone control, salvage or capture the flag sort of game where it's not just who can throw their sticky first and then jump the hell out of there. It's icebreaker/wormwood city at the moment.
Trials was good in HOW and I went to the Lighthouse 3x a week most weeks but now it has definitely declined and seems like a lot of people are not enjoying it as it is right now.
Even though I used to love trials and have gone flawless almost 50 times, I can't help but agree that's it's had only detrimental effects on the game.
The nerfs attempted to 'balance' trials have seriously harmed pvp and pve. At no point ever were snipers a problem in pvp. Yet they received dozens of nerfs to bring them down for trials. This destroyed them in pvp and seriously harmed them in pve. It lead to the shotgun dominance we saw at the beginning of year 3. Which then lead to the nerf that completely destroyed their competitive viability I pve, pvp and trials.
The skorris nerf clearly aimed at trials hurt pve in the worst way. The Templar challenge mode is made drastically easier when you launch the encounter with full supers. The skorris nerf doubled the amount of time we had to wait for the Titan to get their bubble back.
Either trials need to be removed. Or all game modes need to be balanced separately.
Trials is competitive? Lmao since when? I never seen an elimination type of tourney.

14 RepliesHow about we just remove PvP in general.

5 RepliesIf they remove crucible I'm not buying destiny 2

Definitely not. When I still played, trials is what I looked forward to every weekend. While me and my friends may have gotten pretty pissed at points, when we finally won nothing compared to that feeling of joy. Nothing made me try harder in destiny and that's pretty cool imo

For lore purposes trials should stay but I think that future sandbox updates should be more finely tuned rather than just blanket nerfs and buffs. For example the recent nerf to range finder on shotguns killed lower impact shotguns which were balanced with the only outliers being matador and party crasher which the nerf was intended for. We don't need different metas we need balance each weapon should feel powerful and effective in its relative ranges. And please can we have ptr like overwatch so that we the community can give feedback on future balance changes before they are put in place so that the recent nerf like the one to special ammo is more thought out. The only special weapons being used in trials and normal crucible are Sidearms and icebreakers and the very occasional fusion rifle or shotgun

65 RepliesEdited by Kitty: 5/5/2017 1:53:12 PMThe majority of the playerbase is not supposed to enjoy it, it is literally a gamemode for the above average player. A person who loses multiple times is removed, I would consider this person average or below average. A player who wins repeatedly is rewarded, this would be considered above average. It is meant to be exactly how it is, competitive. So when you say remove it and just "add another competitive gamemode" the same things will happen in Destiny 2. So they can't just remove competitive gamemodes because they will upset a rather large portion of players. Your logic is flawed.
If you don't like it stay out of it, then you won't have to complain.
Scrap destiny altogether Problem solved

I don't think that they should remove Trials. Instead, Bungie should separate Weapon changes from PvP and PvE.

Edited by KING_AP: 5/7/2017 1:04:53 AMPetitin to remove you from the game

Blame the cause not the symptoms kids. Solution to all your pvp to pve problems is PVP BALANCE CHANGES SHOULD NOT AFFECT PVP.
-
i completely agree, get rid of it

350th up vote...I am humbled.

I disagree, the Trials are a good addition to the game, although its premise, granted, does impede with that of the Iron Banner. The problem is entry. The standards for player eligibility to receive and use Passage Coins need to be heightened. Additionally, the competitive environment needs to be normalized, like Halo.

I was a late comer to the party on PS4. I have been to the LH a bit, but these steamers take advantage of a player's lack of knowedge. What good are trials gear and weapons with terrible rolls? What's worse is when these streamers start screwing up and losing, they blame it on the person they carry. "You really need to stay back!" "Engage more!" "Where were you there?" They get embarrassed on a channel and It's garbage. I called one out and asked, "Why get down on someone when you played terribly?" It made him so mad, started swearing and everything. Even into and during the next match. To anyone that hasn't been... It's not worth it! These days it's a money making scam for people. You can buy better gear from vendors when available to get yourself a 12+ tier build. That is all!

Thats is a lot of likes i only did trials for the armor which sucks compared to the crotas end armor with ornaments in my opinion. I never really cared for flawless just seemed pointless yeah you get some armor and weapons and a little emblem to show you're skills(unless you got carried and dont really have those skills) but eh whatever. Anyways seems like a waste knowing there's better rolls out there. But uh yeah i agree and disagree there can be trials but i mean hey...you dont have to play it but thats just me i also agree with the points on constant nerfs because lets just keep it real most if not all nerfs originate from somewhere in the crucible you use a weapon or item that gives you an advantage most people who have trouble with trials will complain and guess what happens yup bungie see's these large number of complaints and takes action but hey man it's just how it is i dont like when pvp can affect useful pve items like a weapon but it is what it is i know this post is long and my grammar is sucking right now but uh its whatever. Ninja out.

I will agree with the nerf/buff part. I dont think its fair to change a weapon on the pve side because people think its broken on the pvp side. I dont play alot of pvp, yet my weapons have changed according to their behavior in pvp.
-
I still don't understand how there can be a highly competitive playlist in the game, given that the lag is so noticeable. If anything, players should normally be matched based on the best connection available, and based on skill for Trials.
-
replace trials with a ranked 3v3 or 4v4 clash, have tiers and emblems to show rank.
-
1 ReplyThere's a dlc about trials so.... this is kinda pointless !
-
Trials becomes 'Strikes of Osirus' 3 man deathmatch at the end to get the loot
-
I think they should have Destiny 2 "sweaty edition" for all the pvp try-hards. Those only interested in pve just get destiny 2. Problem solved!

Petition to remove pvp and obliterate all Crucibabies.🤣
