I've been pondering this for a long time. I've tried cardboard, duct tape, paper mache. It's all worse than amateur😩
I might try those paper/foam board things people use for school projects. Those are real easy to shape with an exacto knife.
Any tips?

1 Replylook up how the pros do it with a foam covered metalloplastic frame. if you don't have the time and money to 3d print and paint your own custom set then this is the next best thing. if you want functional Mjolnir Mk V(everything but the strength enhancing and shield) there was a crazy dude who built one off of his prototypical bear-proof armor design but the design never sold and it was a one-off and his company went defunct and IIRC something happened, the guy went crazy or some such. the last discussion of this was back in the days of the halo.bungie.net forums.

6 RepliesEdited by Angel0fWarfare: 4/25/2017 11:26:52 PMEVA foam (like floor mats you can find at a gym). It's like $10-15. You bend it using a heat gun. Edit:Plus, the sizes vary. You can use a lighter layer (thinner) EVA foam for minor details or smaller pieces. You use the thicker pieces for the larger base pieces. You are going to need EVA foam, Gorilla Glue (the clear type and flexible type) or E6000, a heat gun, hobby knife and scissors, etc. To make chest armor, you can make a ductape mannequin or use an old shirt that fits you well to measure and make a template. Making it yourself is more cost effective. Buying a suit online costs $1k+. There are some good YouTube tutorials online. I'll link a good starter in an edit. You can also look around for some templates online. It makes it SO much easier than to start from scratch. Places like Etsy sell PDF templates for projects like this. There are other sites as well.

You can pick up sheets of aluminum or thin steel at Home Depot or Lowe's. Use a low heat to make them pliable. Once you get the shape, you use camp pads to act as a cushion between you & the armour.

Try carbon-microfiber plated in titanium

Foberglass/epoxy resin. Might want a form for that though =/

I still have a cardboard helmet I made years ago for a costume party. Not the best looking, but considering it was my first try and only used pictures for reference, it turned out great.

Use EVA foam and if you're talented enough, make a layer of aluminum to cover the armor.
