Don't waste our time raiding in the Heroic if you haven't completed normal or "hard" before

This is just my personal opinion (I'm sure many of you will agree though), but please do NOT look to get carried through Heroic challenge modes if you have never beaten the normal or standard "hard" mode before. STOP LYING TO JOIN FIRETEAMS. Be honest about your experience. Too many of you lie to get carried lately. You are wasting everyone's time. I don't care if you are a "390 plus" or 400 light level. You either understand the mechanics or you don't. As each raid released I played through the normal mode first a few times before jumping into the hard mode. The first day hard mode King's Fall released we were all underpowered. Light levels between 304 and 307. Max Light at the time was 320. We cruised through that raid easily because we understood the mechanics. Now I jump into a group and see 400s dying and flopping around like fish out of water. I ask "Do you know what you're doing"? They say "yes"....then I see them snipe at the wrong Knight during Oryx, jump on the plates completely out of order, can't kill an Ogre, or try to take Golgoroth's Gaze by shooting his pinky toe. Just stop it. It's been a tough week in regards to raids with randoms, because Little Light guardians are trying to run before they can crawl. Edit 1: I did expect some hate, but noticed most agree. Teaching and pulling through one or two people is no big deal. I have helped many many guardians learn and complete the various raids. The problem is when you join someone elses fireteam post in which the host says "experience needed no noobs" you would obviously expect a quick run. Only to figure out that none of them besides yourself know what is supposed to be going on in the raid. If I didn't go in there for the purpose of being a guide I do not want to be lied to and spend an hour on a single encounter.

  • I mostly agree with what you're saying Let's say your LL is finally above 390 and you're ready to do your first Heroic Weekly Raid, but you also know LFG usually doesn't take too kindly to "newbs" and there aren't many Sherpas on LFG these days (hold on....keep reading). So what to do? There's a Destinylfg website called The 100. LOTS of Sherpas there. Best part of it is you can find guardians in your own timezone with plenty of customization settings :) I might get flack for this part but also don't go in guns blazing thinking you're The Man using an Assault Rifle with low impact (or a Pulse Rifle) and a Sidearm. If forces your partner to cover you and sometimes pop a premature panic bubble. Most raid groups usually knows who the weak link is. Take the right steps, this can be avoided So yes don't be "that one guy" that keeps causing wipes. There are plenty of options out there You just gotta know where (and when) to look.

    • Telling me that I'm "wasting your time" doing these raids before the normal ones is like me telling you that you're wasting my time when I carry you in Trials. Have an open mind and actually help some folks before you think that way. Just because we've never done it doesn't mean we aren't capable of doing it.

        • This is a sad post....and proof of how toxic the Destiny community has become. During the Crota days I was a sherpa. It felt good to help people get through a raid for the first time and hear the excitement in their voice when completed for the first time. I slowly stopped playing because of all the arrogant elitism in the community. I understand the frustration in constantly whiping. But if your so good why don't you have your own raid team by now. My guess is it's because you are an ass and no one wants to play with you. If I can give any advice... take the time to help some people out to do the raids. You can meet some really cool people out there and longtime friends on Xbox if you do this. I met many cool people and have had friends for years now since Destiny has started. I jist hope Destiny 2, the community can get back on track to how the creators envisioned it.

The cycle continues. "If you want to raid. Do the NM and HM first. What is left out: "No one will run those with you. And we will fight you relentlessly if you ask for a solo mode so you can learn the raid . So good luck running it." End Result: Folks never raid. Raiders complain the Raid population is low & etc. Ugh. I know its a endless vicious cycle but man it irritates me. I wonder how many folks in this thread would willingly agree to help people run the Normal Modes & HMs now that the 390s are out. If this game had an ingame LFG system, a true global chat system, & actual social features. I wonder how different this situation would be... Would the raiding pop be more than 10% I wonder... If people weren't so ridiculously overreactive, didn't have such insane requirements, & didn't see teaching folks as a waste of time; more people wouldn't resort to telling a lie to get into raids, and maybe more folks would run them. Edit: I've done all the raids btw. I'm just commenting on how this topic touches on a self creating problem. Edit 2: For those who feel the need to send nasty pms to me full of insults & etc. You can flame me all you want & say my opinion doesn't matter for not having over 100 Raids done & etc. My opinion still stands. How about you post & not PM me? Where is the harm in that? I can sit here & counter with the usual bs like: - I work a full time job & don't have time to spend hours lfg. - I have a life. Etc. - I couldn't find a group that could finish the raid. - I ran out of time. (I only have about 2hrs of playtime a weekday if I am lucky.) I only mentioned my raid completions as backup to say that I have raided & am not talking out my backside, & that I have experienced the raiding community of destiny. To be frank, my completions are low because I just don't like the majority of you (The Raiding Community). I have met very few raiders that are actually nice & decent people. I play games to have fun, not stand in front of a boss & listen to people blame eachother, kick eachother, & etc for hours. Does the grimiore show how many raids I've entered/attempted? I don't even know how you folks dig up the info Edit 3: I do not recall saying anywhere that folks should be carried, & that not doing research/trying to learn encounters should be "tolerated". I was trying to say that folks need to be willing to let people learn, teach, & guide. And be willing to run these Normal & Hard modes in order to teach folks. To say: "Run ___ mode to learn." Then turn around & say: "I will not run ___ mode with you. It is a waste of my time. Go find a sherpa." Only strengthens the negative actions others make. IE: Lieing about experience/skill. Then continue to say: "How come no one can handle these mechanics/raids/etc. Why does everyone suck?" Well, maybe its time to give back & teach. If you can't stand teaching then look at the situation from an outside/non-biased perspective & accept that you will continue to get players who are not nearly as skilled as yourself. Destiny: The Collection launched months ago. So Destiny has more new players than old. Which means a while generation of folks who need guidance.

Don't be lazy. Lot of players still haven't played the raids and this is their last chance before Destiny 2. YOU have done the raids multiple times and probably mastered them all. Share the fun. This is why we need optional raid matchmaking.

                • Honesty is key....there are plenty of people willing to help someone through their first raid. You'll get a better result on lfg if you post that you're a first timer instead of wasting everyone's time. I speak from experience...my first raids when I was learning the mechanics I would watch a video on YouTube just to get a general idea of wtf was going on lol. Then post on lfg explaining I was trying to learn. Don't mistake the assh*les for the majority. Believe it or not I have met many good ppl in the Destiny community and many are out there teaching others and helping. Just be honest about what you need.

                • I have to disagree with the normal part. It helps, but isnt necessary when doing hard mode. I've dived into hard mode raids before touching normal modes and i've done fine at this point. The only thing that people need to understand are the mechanics of the raid, which can be done with watching a few videos and knowing how to survive. I have people run the best loadout for each raid, but we end up wiping cause they die.

We carried 2 new raiders last night through TTK chall. Mode. Took us less then 2 hrs. This included bathroom breaks, smoke breaks and food bteaks. These guys had never stepped foot into the KF rain and did great. Not helping others go through the raids just makes the community weaker. Have some "patience and time" and help new players to learn. The only requirement I ever asked you please open up the YouTube video and watch it. Hell I've even had a few guys watch the clip of a part of the right as we're going instead of explaining to them.
