Why don't politicians push to eliminate minimum wage anymore?
It's quite simple really they care more about getting elected than the people they're supposed to represent

The businesses will completely control our lives to make the most profit and it won't benefit you at all because you'll be making nothing at all! All while the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. I'm really questioning your sanity with this Ghost. I guarantee if you polled the entire American population and asked them if minimum wage should be abolished, 95% of people would be against abolishing it. Only crazies like you would support it.

Now thats its been here its nearly impossible to get rid of even for those opposed to it. Its become so engrained its like an entitlement with many people on the left and even the right having been suckered into thinking it protects them despite when in reality it hampers business and by extension employment.

We don't have the systems and the unions to support an economy without minimum wage. Unions need to be formed across every industry. And what will happen? The same exact shit that's happening now, but the union leaders will be the rich ones instead of the politicians. It's literally just a change in power. But in America, the dishonest, demoral, driven assholes will always rise to the top. Because they don't mind stepping on others to get there, and no one stops them.

It would be nice for conservative politicians to push for a viable alternative, like a negative income tax or minimum basic income. The left has minimum wage so deeply ingrained in the politics of the poor and minorities that to some, opposing minimum wage increases is tantamount to abject racism. To many liberals, the idea that any job could pay less than what is necessary to live above a minimum standard of living is absurd.

Without a minimum wage employers would pay you nothing. Or pay you what the job is worth. Which is nothing.

Politics is very confusing. You can either run for election by promising people things they want so when you get elected you can do what is needed. Or you run by promising to do what's needed and have people dislike you and end up not getting elected
