First off, long read.
I'm gonna start by saying I was a very active player in year one and year two, I raided a lot.
I have noticed over time that raid groups have been getting more and more spazzy about people being perfect. And a lot of the time the ones who cry the most are the ones who have two completions and have seen all the YouTube walkthroughs.
So my message is...
Don't be so jumpy about finishing first try. Learn your teammates playstyle/timing a bit. Bouncing through 5 different raid groups just to finish is just as slow as wiping 10 or 15 times.
I did a Crota challenge last night with a kid who almost EVERYONE would have kicked, he was just not very good. We were trying to do Crota with two swords and I missed two hits so we would have to do three. So we let the kid try on the third sword just for fun, and he clutched it out. Now the kid feels like a champ, he's stoked on raiding, and will probably get better as a result. And now we have one more person to raid with.
Let's stop scaring away potential raiders for us to raid with. I know people don't want to spend all day doing a raid, but come on laugh a little have some fun... It is just a game after all.
Edit: thank for the replies guys keep em coming, we want more people to be able to link up with other cool players.
Saturdays are my raid day. Anyone looking for a chill team on xbone hit me up then.
Edit 2: wow a whole day later and we still on top of the trending. Keep it up guys, we will make raiding fun for all.

People do overreact alot of times! But it is pretty frustrating when you are stuck on the bridge for an hour+!

Good on you for not going with the rest of your fireteam. There should be more people like you in this community.
bazinga
Whenever I raid I always look for a group that's chill, I don't care if I felt like doing it fast or not, the trade off for a fun group is worth it. Even if I don't get it completed in one run, I still have the rest of the week to do it. If I ever somehow get put into a group where they're lookin for specific criteria or want to get it done as fast as possible then I usually just leave and find a better group. I'm in it to have fun, not for it to feel like a chore.

3 RepliesYea I agree, but raids have been like this for a while, especially for people like me who are solo and don't have a consistent team to raid with and have to lfg every time. 7/10 teams are full of people with zero patience, complain and argue, or wipe a lot. The rest are pretty chill and cool people that understand that shit happens and don't get so toxic. These are the groups that despite the toxicity, make me enjoy raids. At this point I've just come to accept that that's how raiding is, and I deal with it by just leaving bad groups. I do wish it would change, but it won't lol. I NEED A FŮČKING CLAN

2 RepliesTried to do crota for my brother yesterday and ran into a toxic guy. He went too early and blamed everybody but himself. I called him out and he jumped to destiny trials report. I told him that wasn't my account and to check my real account. I had better kd,win percent, flawless and almost everything. He only had better elo and kept crying about his better elo. I haven't played this gane for more than 2 hours ever since a month after RoI release and we did a 1v1. He won but I didn't really mind. He would switch weapons every other time. I have helped dozens if not hundreds finish raids and never gave people shit for doing bad or not knowing. Never blamed my team and I have never put up with anybody's shit. If you are annoying or just terrible to play with I'll tell you. Don't be toxic.
-
I tend to disagree yes they're a lot of try hards who want to flawless every encounter and get annoyed if you have to wipe and try again... way around not joining these groups are either make your own fireteam and specify what you want like I.e a relaxed chilled team who don't mind if it takes a few attempts. I find 9/10 I get a nice team who work together well. It's a game after all it's meant to be fun not a chore or something that makes you angry 😡. Anyway guardians enjoy your raids and have fun!

1 ReplySerious question... What are you plebs doing during damage phases? I liked how the one raid showed damage dealt. There's always like 2-3 people with pitiful damage dealt compared to everyone else. Everyone is shooting Godzilla with the same gun... THE TARGET IS AS BIG AS A HOUSE AND NOT MOVING!!!
-
I'm more than happy to help others through raids, I have done it many times. However what is frustrating is that when you ask 'have you done it before?' and they say 'yes' but after failing its is obvious that they have not, this is annoying. I don't mind explaining the mechanics or helping, all I ask for is honesty.
-
2 RepliesI love my group. Feel free to add GT Xero Link on Xbox. We're laid back and have a good time. Completed Crota looking forward to doing VOG WoTM and KF again soon.
-
3 RepliesKings Fall is the only raid I hate teaching other people because it's so mechanically driven and one mistake can cause a wipe during Oryx. Otherwise I've taught 10 different people how to do Crota this week.
-
In all honesty? Would love a PvE gametype to meet a team of five other randoms and play a Strike or two that requires teamwork and strategy. You can meet new players, get to know their strengths and weaknesses and then potentially do a raid with them. Much better than scrolling through countless posts by tryhards looking for easy Crota.
-
26 RepliesYeah. All I see is "Must be 400 and have experience." I've beaten Crota before but not since y1. I might give VoG a try this week but these "sweaty" raiders make me anxious about searching for a group. I'm a shy person and hate confrontation.
-
Raid groups are just getting ridiculous. I'm a year 1 player that would play with my friends, before we all ended up quitting, and we were a group that would help new players out constantly. As I now have around 160 Crota completions and 70 VoG completions. However, now when I try lfg I end up taking around 15-20 mins just to find a group that doesnt have the upmost of requirements that are just ridiculous and when I do end up finding a chill group, we end up finishing it faster then all these sweaty tryhard groups. Also, why do people feel the need to have a requirement of age, for example 16+, age doesnt determine skill level. Yeah, a "squeaker" may get annoying, but most of them are better than half the players I see. Most of these players I join that say no kids are kids themselves as well.

1 ReplyOk i see your point buuttttt Fact is though according to my experience if your team cant make to the first complete cycle or dps round with out wiping in 2-3 tries you will never beat the round no matter the amoint of tries or hours. You need to switch roles or postions but some teams are stubborn and dont want to shake things up. Out of respect i give these teams five tries total. I have regreted every run i did where i didnt follow this standard. Every last one.
-
I can be chill and I can deal with people dying but if you have on a mic and we are messing up due to a lack of communication I'll probably cuss you out and kick you if I'm fireteam lead. I don't feel like I'm asking for much when all I require is talking when it's important
-
I have to agree with you. I joined a group to learn the leadership requirements since my team wanted to run WOTM blind when it came out. Still play with both groups. But the guys I joined are all about perfection and turn raiding into a damn chore. Call themselves hardcore gamers and destiny is the only game they have ever played. My group since vog is the funniest group of guys ever. We have like 15 different people that can jump in and out all the time and we always help each other. And best off its fun to play with them and not some job that I'm not even getting paid for. TLDR People need to calm down on destiny. It's not mlg. It hopefully never will be. Destiny is about fun.

Edited by Tamerov13: 4/3/2017 3:02:29 PMI don't usually have a problem with longer raids. Usually the person making the mistakes is me, haha. My clan, The Scholars of Demise, is really laid back, patient, and willing to teach me or anyone what to do.

Damn.. too bad you're on the Xbone and not the PS4. I've been looking for a way into Nightfall Strikes, Raids, and Trials for a while (I got to see how badly I sucked at trials once or twice back when Doctrine was the gun to get, but not since). I'm not sure where I stand as far as skill, I feel like I can hold my own in most situations, but I think I'm somewhere towards the bottom. Anyway, I wouldn't mind having a group of NOT "angry raiders" to get into team based formats with.
-
1 ReplyI raid a reasonable amount. I have regulars who I like to raid with, but if nobody is around I'm happy to lfg it. You meet new people and you have to be pretty bad fo rme to leave. But there is something people dont seem to think about. Raiding, especially when people are new to it, takes a lot of time. It looks like the raids will be having the cheese removed so expect to take more time to complete any run. Also, go for the easy route if you can. Why try and 2 sword Crota with an inexperience team. Be prepared to do a 3rd or 4th sword. Also all the people who are teaching the raids, the best teachers are the ones who give a brief description, have a wipe. Then point out the problems. Rince and repeat. Move people to better spots in the mechanics until you are running smooth. Not a fool proof strategy, but it makes for less wipes in my opinion

am i the only person that reads xbone as x-bone?

16 RepliesJoined at Crota CP last night. I was 389, the rest were 393-400. We have a Master Swordsman. The issue that kept us there for over an hour was the kid didn't understand that, not everyone had Ghorn or Sleeper or a great Sniper. We could always get him down but getting him down twice on a sword was difficult because of our DPS. So, nobody cared for the Challenge mode and just wanted a completion. We ended up agreeing on one down for a total of 4 (Two downs on 4th sword) Now... thisnis where it became annoying, the Swordsman would jump, start to run the say to shoot. He would die half the time because he wasnt accustomed to low dps. Anyways, after telling him to wait an extra second. We disnit.

Remember your first time doin atheon? Good times.

5 RepliesThat's why so many don't raid much. I haven't ran a raid in close to a year. I'm 42 no god damn way I'm being screamed at by a 12 year old. So many uptight -blam!-s
-
Yeah, my friend recently just started back playing destiny. He has only ever done 1 raid (King's Fall normal mode). I'm excited about taking him through all of the other raids coming up, but I'm not looking forward to finding teams on LFG. I'd honestly rather do it with a full team of people who have never done the raids, then with a group who is going to flip out everytime we wipe.

As a current "perfectionist" raider, I would like to state that a raider is only as good as his team. If an experienced raider who knows the exact timing and knows exactly what needs to be done and the most efficient way to do it, gets teammates who still struggle to hold their own weight or don't fully understand raid mechanics, can be aggravating and frustrating, since new raids consist of multiple roles for everyone such as in Oryx, Vosik, and Aksis where if one person dies then someone else must assume their role while still pulling their own weight. While most raiders will teach some people a thing or 2 that datto or any other guide don't mention (come to think of it, most raid guides feel slightly out of date) there are people out there ready and willing to teach new comers how to raid and take their time doing so, whereas experienced raiders with multiple completions want to do it quick and not necessarily get flawless, but get through the raid without any major hiccups. All I'm saying is that there are 2 sides of the raiding community, guardians who enjoy playing with other people who understand the mechanics and know their role, and guardians who will just play with any other guardian and either acknowledge that you may be entering a raid with an inexperienced team/player, or use your team of randoms to attempt to achieve a perfect run while having a potential newbie using young wolves howl wiping every time a captain emerges.

I remember back in the day doing hard atheon for almost 3 hours, we could of easily done it on the first few tries but the group we had found was loads of fun and i didnt mind having to wipe that many times and i still remember it as a memory from year one.
