Planning on getting For Honor

So I plan on getting for honor. What are some tips for a noob at the game and who should I try using? What should I do first once I get the game?

  • Warden and raider are easy to use, so start out with them. Also, be a viking or knight. Screw weeaboos.

        • Really liked the game at first. Played as peacekeeper and valk mostly. Just feels so cheap to play as either now

Great game, if you like chess match type strategy of fighting. Bad game is button mashing is your thing. Tips for noobs. -Do the advanced tutorial. -You can play all the characters without "recruiting" them. You only need to recruit to customize. -Dont buy salvage packs until your rep 3. -practice, practice, practice. -1v1 and 2v2 gear stats don't matter. In the other 4v4 modes, it does. People will complain that x is OP. But I've seen complaints that every character has something op about them. The fact is, every character has a strong tool in their move set. Best way to learn how to counter it is to learn its limits by practicing with the thing that's messing you up.

        • Its a great game at heart but its flaws are really noticeable (Balancing, P2P connection, etc)

          • I hate the game due to P2P connection. It's 2017 there is no excuse for not using dedicated servers.

            • It depends on what kind of person you think is most like what you want. But i'll try to help. Knights= best roster in the game. Vikings= imo Gain the most off of guard breaks and throws. in short they control engagement distance and the overall fight really well. Samurai= imo the most complex in terms of fighting. To me they are the most reactionary of the factions. Then you have class types: ~vanguards...This would be warden, kensei, and raider. Vanguards are balanced warriors. They are recommended as the start off characters. If you want a warrior that can fit into any situation and gives you a tool for every situation these are your guys. ~Heavies...this would be conqurer, warlord, and shugoki. Heavies are the guys who are built around taking hits and trades. In a sense these are the patient players. If the idea of punishing a player for something they did to you is appealing a heavy is your guy. ~assassins...This would be peace keeper, orochi, berzerker. Assassins are the big damage dealers. but they are also the weakest in terms of health pools. Assassins are all about being aggressive and overwhelming your opponent. To get the most out of an assassin you need great reaction times as you need to be able to get in on someone the moment they make a flaw. you don't have the tool/health for much error. If you like damage dealers assassins are your guys. ~hybrids...This would be lawbringer, valk, and nobushi. Hybrids are different in that they carry the tools/characteristics of 2 types of heros. Unlike the other warrior types you can't like an entire hybrid class over one aspect. Rather one of the hybrids has to appeal to you. Nobushi is all about spacing and mind games since she can animation cancel nearly everything she does. But she also applies a lot of pressure since most of her moves apply bleed on top of her passive letting her do more damage to someone who has bleed procced on them. Valk is a very offensive hero. She has many tools that make her adaptable to the situation at hand. But she's rather unsafe. meaning you can be punished pretty harshly unless you know specifically what you are doing. And then we come to lawbringer. He's a bully. he's really good at wearing down your stamina. He doesn't have a lot of confirmable damage. and his best damage punish is off of parrying a light which isn't easy. But if you've got the patience you can wear someone down pretty easily. Just as long as you stay in control of the fight. If you were to pick a vanguard i'd recommend warden. one of the best heros in the game. Not hard to pick up either. If you were to go heavy i'd suggest conq. even in high level play he's simple. You just need a LOT of patience. Assassin wise i'd recommend orochi. while you will have a lot harder time with him in higher tiers of skill due to being more predictable he just comes down to spacing and punishing. If you can do those 2 things well he's really strong. Hybrid wise i'm unsure. I haven't played much of them myself. I'd probably avoid this class entirely for new people. Lawbringer is the most noob friendly. but he's also very unrewarding for those who don't know how to use him. Valk is just too unsafe for someone who doesn't know her well. and nobushi is just plain difficult to pick up. Hope this helped.

              • Probably should play dominion PVE first so you could practice the mechanics with the hero you chose and in the same time level up fast so you can get higher level gear.If you play any 4v4s in PVP it might be frustrating going up against a person with max gear.

                    • Play the normal and advanced tutorial to get 3000-5000 (I forget which) currency then buy the premium pack with your currency to level up faster and get more currency after a game ends

                    • Learn how to counter guard break, parry, and feint. Before you play a character, make sure you practice with training bot to learn that characters movesets, speed, and overall effectiveness

To start off, vanguards will be your best choice. Find what you expect from that character, do you want them to be fast? Do you want them to hit hard? Do you want a solid ranged weapon? Once you figure out which of those you want from a character, base your preference on a specific character. If you're struggling with the basics however, go into player VS AI gamemodes. These will help you adapt a playstyle and understand how combat and fighting works.

Learn how to effectively faint and parry, and you'll be way ahead of many players in this game.
