Really? That's how people thank the veterans Thad died so we could be safe in our country?
My great grandpa was in WWII, earned among many medals a Purple Heart, and this is the way he and many more war veterans are treated in remembrance?
If you hate them for whatever reason, openly state it, don't cower at night and steal flags that you disagree with or hate, instead, actually be a man and voice your beef.
It's bad enough Americans are burning the American flag out of hate, and somehow not going to prison, but now this?
They do the fighting and protecting and this is how you thank them, how ungrateful. War isn't won by love and "peace and safety", it's one by men, real men. Not by cowards who steal and burn flags and call army, navy, and Rangers "Murderous ****" as one man said to me.
If you hate America so much, why are you still in it?

34 RepliesEdited by Mad Max: 3/13/2017 3:30:56 PMThat's pretty messed up. There's been a lot of vandalism at different memorials and cemeteries recently.
It's bad enough Americans are burning the American flag out of hate, and somehow not going to prison
Do you have a problem with the First Amendment?

It was likely just jack ass kids doing stupid shit. When I was around 20, I had a roommate nicknamed "Sober" because he practically never was. One night the dumb ass pried the battleship off of a ww2 memorial plaque in our downtown area. It was made of metal. He proudly displayed it over our fireplace mantle while myself and our other roommate told him what an ass he was to do that. Turns out it was put in place and payed for by Bataan vets who lived there. It was on the news for a while and then there was another story about these vets trying to raise money to replace it. Dipshit finally felt bad after several weeks of us calling him out on it and finally seeing that news story. He went back one night and returned it.

3 RepliesCalm down. In the grand scheme, a piece of cloth is not a big deal.
My great grandpa was in WWII, earned among many medals a Purple Heart, and this is the way he and many more war veterans are treated in remembrance?
Both of my grandfathers participated in WWII, one as an Army surgeon, the other as a Naval Aviator/test pilot. Yet neither of them got this worked up over a flag
If you hate them for whatever reason, openly state it, don't cower at night and steal flags that you disagree with or hate, instead, actually be a man and voice your beef.
Agreed.
It's bad enough Americans are burning the American flag out of hate, and somehow not going to prison, but now this?
Why should they go to prison? Because they burned a material with a pattern on it? What should the sentence be? Putting them in prison for that would be unconstitutional which is why those laws about flag burning are hardly ever, if never enforced. Their sentence would be overturned on appeal and in the end it would have only wasted tax payers' money.
They do the fighting and protecting and this is how you thank them, how ungrateful. War isn't won by love and "peace and safety", it's one by men, real men. Not by cowards who steal and burn flags and call army, navy, and Rangers "Murderous ****" as one man said to me.
Do not forget women. Many women in the Armed Services now that have participated in operations around the globe. As for the last part of this section, I'll save my response for my final thoughts.
If you hate America so much, why are you still in it? #RememberOurTroops
Do hey really hate America, or do they hate what America has become? Look, I understand that you are upset over this incident, but honestly, as a veteran, I could not care less what a coward does at night to the flag. I never signed up to fight for a piece of cloth, I signed up to fight for the preservation of the ideals in the United States Constitution. The idea that people should be able to speak their minds no matter how much I disagree with them. The right to practice their own religion without government interference, and yes, this includes Islam. The right for a free press. The right to protest, even if it means burning a flag. This is what we signed up to protect, the rights of free citizens and the cause of Liberty. These are far more precious, priceless, meaningful, and important than a colored piece of material that might last a couple of years before it should be disposed of (by burning).

Every male in my family's timeline has served in the military. It dates back to the revolutionary war. I have yet to continue the line of service. Me or my brother. If my mom will even let us. I wish people still had respect for the veterans. They have such interesting stories to tell, but they are left out on the streets to rot.

1 ReplyAs a currently enlisted soldier, I appreciate your patriotism.

It seems memorials everywhere are being vandalized. I'm not sure why.

4 RepliesI was replacing it with the Israel flag like a leftist would do.

Seriously? Why would someone steal a veterans Flag? People these days. They have no respect for our troops. I swear this better not be some BS protest stunt.

4 RepliesI want to see them try to vandalize the tomb of the unknown soldier
Let's just see where that gets them.
4 RepliesI really don't understand the vitriol people have towards the people that make up our Armed Forces. I promise you if anyone doesn't want America to go to war, it's them. They step up regardless and serve, but most times it's to keep their brothers and sisters safe, not because of some ideological agreement with whatever bullshit sends them there. "But they knew what the job entails" Maybe, but I can tell you the compensation can be one of the best things available to some folks. And there's tons of jobs that aren't combat roles. Plumbers, firefighters, engineers, electricians, analysts, maintainers, mechanics, legal workers, musicians, public affairs, chaplains, medics, chemists, food prep. The list goes on. These aren't people that signed up to be a ground-pounder, but they can still get assigned to do their duties at a base in hostile territory because it's a job that needs done to help their brothers in arms. I think the ignorance is one of the main reasons I think it would be good to have compulsory service in America.

People are idiots. Usually these things are done by ppl who aren't actually attempting to hurt others but look cool in front of friends. I mean, you can blame them. But alot of it is luck. Luckily my friends never dared me to do anything immoral to public property. But like I've stolen cones and stuff. It's not as bad as taking a veterans flag obviously. But I did something stupid and broke the law, but didn't get caught

If it's done once it might be done again. Stake out the memorial and beat the piss out of them when they show back up.

War isn't won by love and "peace and safety", it's one by men, real men
You've also apparently forgotten that women are in the military, too.

That is a £ucking disgrace. War memorials used to get vandalised in the U.K mainly by IRA supporting pricks, but more and more it was by young left wing a-holes and minority immigrants. More so a rare occurence now i'm glad to say.

Did it ever occur to you that perhaps the flags were in violation of rules of display?
