1 ReplyIt's a problem, yeah. But we have much bigger problems at the moment.

2 RepliesThe earth works in a cycle
ice age to the "regular age" we're in now
And we're just about to the end of that cycle or those pictures you see that have a picture of a desert and say this is earth in 2100 are true either way we better start seeking other planets

9 RepliesChina is the real problem here, not cars in general. http://www.worldatlas.com/articles/biggest-contributors-to-global-warming-in-the-world.html

I wouldn't drive if I didn't have to. But my career is one in which I don't have a choice

It's a problem but it's not one the middle class can afford. Rule number one of economics dictates that the rich will always get richer. No political party can fix this. Therefore humanity is doomed. So let's party it up and enjoy life while we can!

2 RepliesEdited by LiamCDM: 3/4/2017 11:45:05 PMIt IS a serious problem, and I take public-transportation or go by foot. Look, I'm not going to sugar-coat this, but with the available evidence, of which I will cite at the end of this paragraph, it is quite clear that this is the most dangerous threat humanity has ever experienced, and has the direct possibility of wiping us out in the coming centuries, due to multiple factors including sea-level rise, extreme temperatures, oceanic acidification, mass-extinctions of marine and land life and more. There's also speculation that there could be a refugee crisis by 2100 on the scale of which we've never seen, with North-Africa and the Middle East reaching temperatures too hot to sustain life. It's painfully unnerving that President Trump and his administration not only refuses to do anything about climate change, but fla-out denies its existence and seem to intentionally do whatever they can to make it worse. We've already passed 400ppm, possibly forever, so all we can do now is reduce the effects it'll have on us, but to do this, humanity needs to come together NOW, and fight for clean energy and nuclear energy to replace fossil fuels. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/climate-change-could-make-parts-of-the-middle-east-and-north-africa-uninhabitable-a7010811.html http://ocean.nationalgeographic.com/ocean/explore/pristine-seas/critical-issues-ocean-acidification/ http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/climate-change-will-accelerate-earths-sixth-mass-extinction-180955138/ http://climate.org/sea-level-rise-risk-and-resilience-in-coastal-cities/ https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/earth-s-co2-passes-the-400-ppm-threshold-maybe-permanently/

4 RepliesIt IS a serious problem and I DO have a car. I also DO have alot of beef. I also support regulation to offer incentives on more eco friendly vehicles and to cut emissions of factories. Nothing wrong with pushing for cleaner air. (Could care less for libertarian views on this) There are things i dont want to do and things i know must be done. I remember in my agrocultural ethics class we did extensive study on food sustainability and productivity. I love meat but we could cut emissions by reducing beef trade and replacing with more efficient and cost effective chicken. The amount of land required just to FEED the livestock could easily produce much more food directly from the roots. If we want to feed everyone within the coming decades, we would have to convert to vegetarian diets (or be prepared to pay alot more for beef). Im sure more selfish users would never agree to taking a cut to beef to improve food pruduction. Methane wise, chicken replacing beef would allow a methane cut. Yes that is considering putting in alot more chicken to beef. Again i can have tons of fruit and still feel hungry with lack of beef.. but im also understanding it is inevitable that we take these cuts for future generations.

1 ReplyApparently 40% of off-topic is retarded. So that's good to know.

2 RepliesGlobal warming isn't real

I ride a motorcycle. I get around about 60 mpg. I think climate change comes with problems, yeah.
-
I don't really have a stance on global warming, but I really don't think we're doing enough about pollution. I don't want to be able to taste your exhaust whenever I go outside.

50 RepliesWe can't just stop people from using cars (although they should only be used when neccesary) but we should be looking at better alternatives - which we're basically not.
-
No electric car option? I don't drive one but it'd make more sense for the poll.

19 RepliesHmmmm majority of the side that thinks it's a serious problem drives thereby adding to the problem... lotta hypocrites on that side.

2 RepliesI'll be dead before it really affects me so idc

If I didn't need to drive a car to live my life I wouldn't.

OP thinks he's clever with his tu quoques.

I know it is caused by chem trails.
-
I think it's a serious problem but I dont have my license yet.
-
I don't disbelieve it, but I don't honestly care about the issue. I do walk everywhere, though (unless I'm with company).
-
Honestly I don't really know much about this and I feel like it's actually hard to find some good articles on this but why not strive for a cleaner environment regardless of climate change?

9 RepliesIt's real. It's not as big a problem as it's made out to be. I drive an 06 GTO and get worse mileage than a corvette.
