New to game!
Any pointers on where to start for better gear and equipment. Any quest?

Once you hit like 310, do the rise of iron story missions, the sword quests, the sleeper similar quest, and just have fun. It's a fun game. Usually.

Hey bro, I would suggest grabbing all the strike and vanguard bounties and running through the missions on a higher light level for additional XP. I wouldn't run crucible until you get good gear. Hit strikes as your light level allows.

After the recent patch? Sell the game.

Do strikes till 380 then raid or crucible till 400. Try and get friends or a clan to help it goes a lot quicker.

Stay off forums except for help like this. For me, I did crucible to rank up to 40 fast. Along with some strikes and missions. 40 isn't the grind though, it's easy. The grind is getting to light 400. That's a whole different discussion. But these forums will not be nice, you will not be safe, and your game will be in installed.

If you play this game, trust me, you will be tested. Tested in ways you never thought possible or appropriate by a game or game developer. The sole purpose of this game will be to get you addicted, push you to your limits, starve you of quality content, and see how much abuse you will take from a gaming company and a gaming community. Your mind, after three years, when experiment number 1 is done, will be a jumble of worms and you will no longer be able to form full sentences or think straight. Hodor. Iron banner...one of the quickest ways to level in this game.

Some good gear you can get is the palindrome from the crucible quarter master, and the wormwood from future war cult. Get them and use them as they are really really good. You also buy them a 350 light so it's quite a boost if your not high light

Do all the available missions you can. Then Do strikes til 360ish. Then Do archons forge til about 365 Then Do some crucible until you get 3x 300 weapons. Iron banner for armor when available.By this time you should be 375 to 380. Then Do the wrath of the machine raid and try some trials out. But honestly, just quit now. The game is dead.

I suggest finding friends that are higher levels to help you through the full storyline ( all dlc's and vanilla ) because it will help you level much faster as well as make sense of many of the theory's that appear on these forums( while not actually in the game, Destiny lore goes very deep behind the scenes. I also suggest playing all of the raids, because honestly they are just so much fun. Find yourself a good team, have some laughs, and get some gear from every generation of the game. Finally when opening engrams, go one at a time, and equip the higher light gear before opening any more engrams, as this speeds up the process of reaching 400 light. Just follow these steps and you will be 400 light in no time ( obviously throw in some crucible here and there, after I finished leveling through all the PvE gameplay, Crucible became a huge addiction for me XD.) Or if you really enjoy that crispy PvE action, SIVA strikes are open to you once you reach a certain light level. Also, If you happen to be on Xbox One, feel free to hit me up with a friend request and a message letting me know who you are, and I'll be happy to take you through the beautiful campaign of this game ( and some crucible in between, for my sake lol ). 1 ReplyDestiny is a very large game if you're just getting into it, it's really nearly impossible to type up a suitable response to this as every day you spend inside this world, your needs will change. Progression rate is up to you, you could get max light really fast if that's your goal, or you could slowly inch up the ladder, it really depends on how you play & how much time you devote to it. One of my friends had been ~350 for a long time, they started listening to my advice on reaching max light and now they're at 399 just a short time later.
