New to game!
Any pointers on where to start for better gear and equipment. Any quest?

Do the story and then do the Raids all in the order they were released (as much as you can). I'm sure you'll find some people to work with for the Raids. Don't be put off if you have some bad experiences with recruitment, it's gonna happen, but don't let it make you mad. Good luck!

Edited by Killtson: 2/28/2017 8:58:48 PMBest tips I can give you is do the story, run strikes, save legendary (open after 370 ish) and exotic engrams (open at the earliest around 390) for now. When you are picking up blue engrams at the end of strikes make sure you are at highest light level. When decrypting engrams, do them one at a time and equip them if they are higher before continuing with decrypting. There is a chart for where you can get certain items throughout your light level progression. Easy to google. 365 is easy to get to. It slows a little till 385. After 385 it begins to creep. After 390 it tends to come to a stop lol. Chests and boots cannot be obtained through strike chests so those are tricky to ge, hence, saving exotic engrams to help this. Once you meet raid requirements use lfg to get in and have a blast. I reccomend the100.io for finding groups. Alot of good ppl on there that love to help you. (Myself included). Hope this helps. Edit. And as others have said. Avoid the forums. Lol. At least if you are going to be on them don't take anything too seriously. Add me and when you make it to 370 I'll get you comfortable with raiding.

I have been paying since the A beta, and I'm still finding new things I like. And yes, that may be because they keep changing things but whatevs. I still like it.

Welcome to destiny!! Here are my Best Tips for Success 1. Play through all the story missions. You won't necessarily get the best gear doing this, but you'll get adequate gear and the experience you'll need for the rest of it. 2. Run heroic strikes. This is the best way to level up your gear, at least to 385. And it has matchmaking, so you won't have to find any special groups. 3. Play in iron banner. This also has matchmaking, and you can see gear dropping in this that can get you to max level. The gear drops based on your current light level, so when you get better gear, wear it or use it! 4. If you can find some people to play with, Nightfalls can help with gear, but it's a slower method than iron banner. Of course, ib only happens one week a month. 5. The hard mode wrath of the machine raid can also get you max-level gear, but you need to be high-level and have five other people to have a go at it. 6. Last, and most importantly; [spoiler]STAY AWAY FROM THESE FORUMS!! this place is a toxic swamp[/spoiler] Have fun, and good luck!!

Once you get high enough level to run Vault of Glass raid, you can try here to get people to help your or go this site http://destinytracker.com/destiny/lfg and get a group together to run the raid with. Then work your way up thru the expansion stories and other raids/prison of elders as you increase your light.

1 ReplyEdited by TheMedic444: 2/28/2017 6:54:09 PMStart with rise of iron, use your lvl 40 booster and start the campaign, As you go through the rise of iron book you will get some good light level gear. The missions also give out 340 gear. After the rise of iron campaign is done do the taken king campaign, it starts with the rock next to mars(phobos) This campaign will take a long while probably 4 hours, but once it is finished you will have a good base legendary item pool. You should be about 360 now which means you can do heroic strikes, be sure to finish the taken war quests it rewards a really good sniper, and will get you started in running strikes. Also you can run the Kingsfall raid at 360 and shouldn't have any light level issues. This is running kind of long so here are some quick tips: 1: Make sure your light level is as high as possible before decrypting engrams or opening packages 2: Don't level up any armor while you level up, to save currencies. 3: Use currencies to get more packages 4: Don't do activities under the recommended level especially not strikes, you will waste a lot of your time and wipe a lot.

Do as many others have said, stay off the forums and off Reddit. Just enjoy the game. Only come here when you need help then leave. Ignorance is truly bliss in this case. In regard to your question, do the story missions and then run some strikes mixed with some crucible. Run some Archon's Forge once you get access to it as that's relatively easy to solo if needed and you can get max light gear. Iron Banner starts today so if you can get into, say, the 380's range light wise "real quick", hop into IB and you'll get some good loot to drop. Once you're in the 390's or so you can probably start finding a raid group on LFG or something. Making friends and joining a clan is the best way to go if you can find people.

Flee! Flee while you can!! Just kidding, the gear grind in this game is seriously bad. I would recommend finishing all the story missions. Then run strikes appropriate to your level from the strike playlist until you can catch up and do a higher level strike playlist. Grab yourself a faction and get to grinding!!
