New to game!
Any pointers on where to start for better gear and equipment. Any quest?

Some good guys on there that will show you the ropes. Oh...disclaimer....NOT EVEYONE!! There are some good People who like to help.

Just have fun with the story and all sub classes, gear will come as you progress. Equip highest light armor and weapons you have before decrypting any purples/yellows. That way you'll be able to gain light fast. If you have a weapon you love don't be afraid to infuse it. There'll be lots of opportunities to do so. Once you get to 385 a real quick way of getting to 400 is to grind 320 siva crisis strikes for keys and use those keys on the strike that will give your lowest light gear a boost. Archon's Forge is good for 385+ artifacts and ghosts. Or play pvp if that's your thing. Above all enjoy the ride, you have a good deal of content ahead of you and lots of us are kind of jealous about that.

My advice assuming you have Rise of Iron: Follow all quest steps for Taken King and try to get in an lfg group for a Kings Fall, FIRST. Next do RoI quest steps and try to find some peeps to do a normal Wrath of the Machine raid with. The only reason I suggest doing a normal raid first is to learn the mechanics before jumping into hard mode. Before or after the WOTM raid, see Xur and buy as many 3ofCoins as you can. Always have one active. And always equip your highest light gear before you turn in any engrams. At first being new, you'll want to try and max intellect and discipline. So whenever a purple drops look for it to have high intellect and discipline. You can infuse any purple item to max light level later. Other than that, do weekly stuff, look at YouTube for exactly what you want to do. Also in regards to PVP. My advice is that you DO NOT play crucible until you have good gear, a wormwood from FWC, and a fully maxed subclass. The reason I say this is so you can avoid a shitty k/d down the road. It's very challenging to come back from that later when you finally get good. My main account has an overall 1.01.... 🙄 GL

Do the main storyline missions to level your character, especially rise of iron since gear will drop at 320.

I was in the same boat as I only got the game at Christmas. I'd say finish all the missions and doing strikes have been my main way of getting higher light.closing in on 400 now so it doesn't take too long

1 Replyid recommend selling it and buy a better game. horizon looks decent and breath of the wild comes out in 2 days, scoring one perfect score after another. if you want another shooter go for titanfall 2, the multiplayer is actually very well balanced.

Work on your subclass especially defender for pve on your Titan, a Titan bubble is always welcome you're fine to run kings fall normal at 300 light just get hold of a sniper and a helpful team first, you should hopefully get some gear and I find it fun.

Do story and quests. Strikes are also a good source of loot. Try to mix it up and go at your own pace. Raids are mainly end game. Good luck out there!

Join a faction based on the weapons load out you prefer..I suggest FWC for the sidearm and pulse. strikes and playing Iron Banner are fast ways to lvl up quick. A lot of grinding through the repetition is really the only way.

As soon as you can go join a faction so you rank up and get more gear as you are leveling up
