Why The Bladedancer Nerf was Uncalled For

So after reading a few posts it seems the argument is that blade was mostly shut down by shotguns and now that shotguns are less viable, it could have potentially led to a indirect blade buff (harder to shut down). This does make sense but what people don't realize is that there was already an easy way to counter blade. Bungie says that they didn't want blade rampaging on the rest of team after a kill. What most teams do anyway is just shoot the bladedancer right after it kills someone. This stops health regen and usually kills the bladedancer (assuming they were low on health) Thoughts?

  • Bladedancer is a high RISK, High reward super. I emphasize the word risk. It is risky to go into arcblade mode. Yes you can destroy a team, or just as easily die trying. No nerfs were warranted

    • It's annoying to see something like this because it was their personal frustration rather than listening to the comminity. I would've much rather seen a skorris fix than a bladedance nerf

    • I don't understand why bladedancer is being nerfed. It can be taken out easily by team shots It can easily be put down by supers It can't kill fist of havoc doesn't matter how much slice&dices you put on him before he slams, he's always at 20% health. The blink was nerfed hard. The timer for bladedance is low. The invisibility barely works bc players can still see you on radar. So why is it being nerfed more? I don't get it.

      • One dev took out his personal experience instead of looking at data. Blade is the most shutdown super in the crucible.

        • It's all but RIP for them. We're easy enough to shut down by apparently not easy enough for one man and sadly such people are the ones making changes to the games. It's just sad. This has been the whole problem with Bungie since more than 2 years now. When it comes to critical game issues, they don't listen to what people want(adding vault space should not even be on wish list, it's basic). At most, they listen to a small group of streamers , that are in fact cancerous to this game.

        • Simply. It was uncalled for as no-one called for it. I heard a guy on the last stream say it was his idea. Year one Bladedancer was fine. You could get a big chain or someone could backpedal with a full auto Secret Handshake and end it there. Balance.

        • Blade dancer was the best class by far all of year one. It was truly the only op class in Destiny except for sun breaker for a month. Blade dancer after all the nerfs is still better than sun slinger, void walker, striker, and defender. Hunters hold three of the top 5 sub class spots. Hunters really need to get over themselves.

          • Hungering Blade was more of a change than a nerf because of the Special ammo changes. I've been trying to tell people this, but people are still too salty. We can't know the full effect until we play it, but I'm much more concerning about rampaging Sunbreakers and Stormcallers than I am Bladedancers right now. I think Blade will stay a decent roaming super and is pretty well balanced with its competitors in that regard.

                  • This new change is more of a buff if you ask me. It's easily to stop a blade from healing completely. Being shot once will stop the healing in it's track making wiping out a team hard. With this change it can't be stopped from healing. Even if it's a small amount, it's instant. Just like stormcaller. You don't keep healing. you just heal instantly and it can't be stopped no matter what. It could be much worse. They could have given it a cooldown of 3 seconds XD They should have nerfed smoke IMO.

                  • Yeah now instead of stopping health regen completely before it gets anywhere significant it can automatically regen a good chunk of it instead. It's a tradeoff, you guys aren't thinking. Just as it powers through constant damage, DOTs are also less effective on blade dancer with this.

                    • Blade dancer only gets a small health added on and no shield regen from it causing it to be a nerf which you will easily die from a primary instantly because you have no health anyways also the armor is low and recover so one of the lowest possible so basically its even worse and also the only way to have higher recovery is to give up blink but if you do you would have a hard time getting to the other players so either way theirs a good and bad thing so it ends up blade dancers are complete garbage

                    • Honeslty after the pissing and moaning about the only redeeming thing about stormcaller's neutral game fk hungering blade and fk flying jug shields. That said a rarely play pvp so feel free to ignore this.

                      • Sorry the real issue is FoH, Nova Bomb, and storm trance need to be nerfed first and foremost. Even after this nerf you still outclasses defender, sunssinger, gunslinger, and nightstalker supers so IMO your issue isn't that arc blade super has become weak but that it's ridiculous that this being nerfed before the three OP supers stated above.

                        • And another thing, if the special nerf indirectly buffs bladedancer, does it not also buff hammer of sol and stormtrance? If so, shouldn't both of these supers also get a nerf?

I am a hunter and with arc blade can usually only squeeze off a kill or two before I get killed.

                          • Uncalled for nerfs in year 2. Hawkmoon damage nerf,lady word damage nerf,sniper damage nerf,shotgun damage buff,hawkmoon range nerf,fusion rifle range nerfs,last word range nerf,last word hipfire nerf and more. Devs from year 2 to 3 don't even play the game and don't know how to balance shit.
