Sticky grenade
-25 second cooldown with max Discipline.
-Able to have two (except flux).
-Does not require a precision shot for maximum damage.
-Able to throw further with gauntlet perks, which provides better accuracy.
-Has noticable tracking.
-Will one-shot a max armored guardian.
Throwing knives
-29 second cooldown with max Strength.
-Able to have two.
-No tracking.
-Requires a headshot for maximum damage.
-Will not kill a guardian, regardless of armor.
In my opinion, throwing knives should do 110 to the body and 198 to the head. This will kill all but max armored guardians. I think doing this would make them much more rewarding to use, and they still wouldn't be as good as the average sticky grenade. This probably won't be a popular opinion, so if you disagree then please tell me why.
Edit- Most people are saying that its not fair to compare a grenade to a melee. I might agree in other games, but in destiny melees aren't just melees. They come with tacked on abilities that almost always serve an outside purpose other than just punching something. Not to mention both grenades and melees in destiny are equal in cooldown time, which suggests they should be equal in power. So no, I don't have a problem with the comparison.
Edit- I agree that if this happened then the knife juggler perk would need to be reworked.
Edit- Many are saying this would make them too powerful. Yes it would make them strong in practiced hands, but let's not make it out to sound as if it's just a free kill. Try to remember that throwing knives are one of the more difficult abilities to use and certainly take the most amount practice of all melees. Even when I watch great players who are gunslinger mains, they can still miss or body shot regularly. I think many of you are focusing too much on the potential of one shot knives without considering just how practical they are.
Edit- Its strange to see people keep bringing up points that I've already addressed. I think I'm going to call it on this one. I don't think I'm winning anyone to my side. I'm open to having my mind changed on this but my arguments haven't been refuted.

3 RepliesEasy mode super with 3-4 cross map kills, no time for other players to react AND a one shot throwing knife?! SIGN ME UP. I can just sit down in Mayhem when I see two or more gunslingers even more than usual! Sounds like an AMAZING IDEA! Two 45 second tripmines and two instant kill ranged melees combined with a super that is LITERALLY point and click! You are the smartest person on this forum. Hands down.
-
3 RepliesAll other melees (except backstab blink strike (special case)) are not one shot kills. Why should T knife be any different?
-
4 Replies? Really... a knife should be better then grenades and bullets. Logic is strong with this one.
-
No they shouldn't
-
It does when you aim head.
-
1 ReplyThrowing knives already have a mountain of aim assist so I think it should only 1-shot someone at full health if it's a headshot and they have the burn perk on
-
I say why not...It wouldn't make any difference to me. I don't play pvp very often but when I do it's all about fun and I've never cared what killed me or how op some would think a said ability or weapon was. It's just a game you're gonna die, get over it and have some fun.

In this community we need to consider what the extreme side will be. Monte Carlo and Claws of Ahmakara. With an experienced Knife Thrower this set up will be ridiculous. Right now the Gunslinger's kits is designed to weaken or finish off Guardians with abilities and rely on gunplay to get kills. That's why I think they reduced the damage.
-
If it's a headshot sure but not a body shot
-
If a headshot and distance was considered, I'd be fine with knife one shots
-
It's a knife I have a space helmet that lets me survive in space and it let a gaurdien change through the the fallen and headbutt the Kell to death with one hit
-
And knives do a weird thing where they kinda track but they will hit people outside of their original hitbox but won't seek
-
Not be a OHK but it should do more damage than what it does now I use gunslinger pretty exclusively in crucible and have since y1
-
Edited by Marcheziora: 1/18/2017 8:01:48 PMIf it's distances based, yes! Longer it takes to hit it's target (cross-map), you should be rewarded. Apparently everyone here wants all classes to play the same, fuq 'em!
-
Alright if you're gonna do that, then remove ALL tracking from throwing knives.
-
Throwing knives do sorta track, not like a sticky but still enough.
-
I love this. As a hunter, I don't have enough abilities that can one shot. Can I has one more? I already play the cheese class of pvp, but I still suck. Why is that? Seriously, Hunters are destiny's way of saying "Too bad at killing people? Here, have a bunch of instant kills."
-
I mean, I'd like to test it in a test environment. I would exactly know how OP they are. Honestly I'd rather bring them back to OHK on low armor targets, and have a bigger hit box.
-
10 RepliesNothing in this game should be a OHK.
-
2 RepliesI agree. It infuriates me to nail someone in the face with the throwing knife only to be clever dragon'd or matador'd before I can get the follow up shot.
-
No. They need to take away AA
-
1 ReplyThrowing knifes should one hit to the dome reason: YOU HAVE A BIG ASS KNIFE IN YOUR FACE.
-
1 ReplyAll mellee should be 1 shot. Also make it so when I pop my super, it wipes the map like oryx
-
8 RepliesYes, because the last thing we need is another ranged insta-kill melee. That's right, I'm looking at you warlocks.
-
4 RepliesNo. No no no. You see, it's not a grenade, but a melee.
-
1 ReplyOnly the defender stickies kill max armor with ram. Sunsinger and bladedancer take it down to 1 hp
