The podcast was started to give everyday guardians a chance to do something they would probably never experience by being on a podcast and to give them the opportunity to have not just their thoughts, but their voices heard by Bungie as they discuss the game. Beyond that, it's allowed us to get to know the voices and personalities behind the gamertags we see on the forums and get to know each other in a way not possible in anonymous words on a page. We aren't here to endorse or tear down Bungie or Destiny, but to give honest, balanced talk on this game. Thank-you and maybe we'll see you on an episode.
Welcome to episode 35 of the #destinytruthcast where you the community join us in talking all things Bungie and Destiny. Today RedWingGirl is back and we are joined by bnet forum guests Durandal and Synge1080 Today's topics include- -The harsh reality of achieving Tier 12 -Payoffs worth the grind -Should gear be reworked for D2? -Speaking of D2... Lets speculate!!! -Thoughts on possible new/reworked subclasses -What would you like raids to be like in D2? -Is reaching 400 too easy? -Endgame gear vs faction -OP weapons -Teamwork in PvP -In-game chat, has it been handled right or should it be reworked in D2? -Dedicated servers -Favorite moments of the week Once again thank-you to Durandal and Synge1080 for joining us today and we thank you for listening and participating on the forums. We can be found on twitter @dstinytruthcast and online at www.destinytruthcast.com As always, if you'd like to be on a future podcast, message us and let us know your thoughts on the game and what you think would be an important topic to come on and discuss. We look forward to hearing from you and can't wait to hear more voices on the next episode :)
Theme song: Convince Us Artist: Swell Album: Whenever You're Ready
Once again I want to thank each of the Guardians who've appeared on the #dtc and helped make this such a cool experience as we've gotten to know each other a little and talk Destiny. A bit late for the Party, as the next episode is due today, but very good podcast. My personal opinion on the proximity chat is that it could definitely improve the social side of Destiny Social Spaces or on Patrol, but one downside would be when encountering people whom speak different languages, as I have seen a lot of harassment arise from these encounters, or "voice trolls" whom like to irritate other players out of sheer enjoyment. But I do agree with RWG that opting out of Fireteam Communication should be the option, not opting in. If you were matched to my fireteam, then I assume you would like to communicate with me and if not you can opt out, not viceversa.

  • All you gotta do is buy all the Iron Banner armor. It's always a minimum stat roll of 98%. T12 is easy a hell to achieve.

  • Part three hate people like that who just complain about it being rift or control those things are fun sure you can't be at the back and you if to get stuck in but that's the whole point some of the most fun I had is playing rift in a fire team. I hate people who don't use mic in raids how else are you going to tell anybody if your empowered? How are you going to say I've got back mid in the raid or I have right or I have left? It is silly not to use a mic in year one I met people by sending out friend requests while in strikes that's how I found people to play with and now I have a raid team and we raid but in year one I was member of three different raid teams so I always had some one to raid or strike with and that was essential to the game people just need to start talking to each other you go outside and no one talks to anyone no one brothers to make new friends by talking to a random person and I hate that about this generation in school we would try to get as meny friends as possible but when we are adults we don't give a shit anymore about making friends and it is a sad sad lonely world we live in nowadays. You should cumicate if you find a really good player in a strike or a player who helped you on protal or in pvp you should send them a friend request and play with them. Proximity chat wouldn't work cause I don't think any game actually does that(surprise me divison does that cause the dark zone is about taking all the loot for yourself and bretraying your friends by killing them and taking loot from them) Titan fall cod you talk with the whole lobby if your in public chat so I still think they would make you open a chat party or else you would hear everyone in the year and you would if to mute people if you want to talk to one person I just don't think that possible to have a proximity chat where if your in a certain number of feet it would connect you to together. Might work in protal but you would if to encode the areas to work like so once some one enters the area they can cumicate with you but when if you leave that area you would lose them in the chat party. If a solo player think he can play the multiplayer part without cumicating when he is being silly cause you can't do that part as a solo player you if to be a team member at that point or you won't do it is as simple as that. They really need to do something about the severs cause when everyone is on playing iron banner and we try and do the raid it's extra glitchy we will be green barring and yet we sure have teleporting shanks, sevotors and captains that get their health back it is stupid that iron banner affects us while raiding it should be not be like that we should be able to do what ever we want not be forced into banned cause nothing else will work while there is so meny people play banner and yes cheating will always happen I was doing banner on Wednesday first match we came up against this guy who was great it would take a whole fireteam to kill him not cause he was gitchs it was cause he was rentlessly hopping round shade stepping and shotguning us not staying in one place and we were losing by 3000 odd points and I said to myself I wish someone would doss him low and behold some one does and he disappears and we go on to win the match they must have a program their laptop to be able to type in a person name and just boom he is doss and it is stupid that bungie allows it something needs to happen so that they can't do that to people. We really need to improve connection and dedicated regional severs would help that if they have it in Titan fall 2 we should get them too I don't know how a mainstream game thinks it can run p2p now days I don't think any new PS4 game like for honor even thinks p2p system would work I bet when that comes out it will be dedicated. Favourite part of the week showing off in pvp taking the whole team down in one storm tanse in less than 10 seconds on coldeon and winning the game and being the best around is one of them for this week the other is running the raid with my friends and having fun where they just send me into laughing uncontrollably cause we are doing mario theme tunes cause I just jumped off some ones head and kill them lucky it was a warlock or me underestimateing the jump and nearly not making it and having to use my sword to swing me on to it that was fun raid even though it took us ages to do cause it was being gilitchy at times. Last week no favourite moment cause their was nothing to do so I was playing ff15 just like I will be this weekend cause their is nothing to do and I would have competed banner on all three characters just to see if I get a clever dragon or a unbent tree I like. I do if to say whatever they have done to connection it is great I'm having no problem in ironbanner just a shame it can not run like that all the time. Another fun point fanking a hard scopeing sniper and talking up behind him and just shot gunning his head off was so fun also shadow shot some one and he unloads a whole clip in me and I just finally jump up and kill him after 3 aptemps without dieing and goes to hide in the room and I die in head to head shot gun also double fusion rife ok was funny to kill each other with fusion a classic. Also while we are on the subject of ill will I have one reactive reload and it takes to long to reload so the perk does not work and that is stupid.

  • Part 2 lol can't believe I if to do this. Face it redwing we are going to if to start over there will be no carry over and we will lose every thing which will be great in a way no more buffs or nerfs for the first few months and bloom it will all happen again cause bungie is bungie. We could never keep the old supers their is just so meny glitchs that need patching and keeping them would just make the game too big plus where would elements come from to give us new ones in first place? ice, earth, wind? don't make me laugh this is destiny not avatar the last air bender, we all ready have the three biggest and main elements in the first place. quite frankly I like the idea of getting new ones and not caring about the old ones, shame about the gear but they won't turn off d1 severs for another year or two so we'll have every thing for another year or two even when D2 comes out that is how most games work we will always have the ability to go back, put in the old game and play why should destiny be any different if that is the norm? This is how all games move forward, code can only be rewritten, if it rewritten repeatly it gets gilitchy it can not be changed competely without starting from scratch why do you think we get new cod rebuilt from scatch every year? I think nearly every game except FIFA is built with new code from the ground up nothing from d1 could carry over to d2 plus this will probably allow us new perk trees on guns or inchangable ones plus better graphics, new character mods like breads etc. destiny 1 would never last 10 years this was inevitable it was going to happen from day one just like a lot of other games on the market. Reranking was going to happen having to get to rank 50 in vanguard, dead obit would happen again how else do they insure that you play the game for hours that's why year one lasted longer than year 2 cause we were building our characters it was inevitable that we would if to rebuild repeatly the same thing in d2 just like you if to do in witcher 3, just like you if to do in fallout 4 just like you will most certainly if to do in skyrim 2 that is the norm. Although I agree with you redwing I'm not interested in doing it but yet I do it for every other game with should d2 be any different? What I would hate is for destiny to become a sightly different cod clone just like Titan fall 2. Although I do agree you redwing they are crazy but they have already done it before with the ttk collectors edition that did not carry over to PS4 if you brought it on PS3. so they obviously think that if we are stupid enough to buy the player cards in FIFA 16 to build your ultimate team and you brought them all again in FIFA 17 your going to be stupid enough to do the same with destiny 2 I will say I will gladly place my hand in yours and stand outside bungie hq with a signs saying respect your costumers, we are not your stupid money bags, how dare you think we are stupid enough to keep on do this, do you take us for fools? Etc if you think that would make them change ( really need a heavy metal theme song for that rant) but this is the norm and this is probably that will happen if you disagree go blow up Bungie hq. (Although extreme this would probably change the gaming industry for about 2 months and when they will carry on treating us like stupid money bags) It would be really nice to have a raid with multiple routes to take like that which leads to different rewards etc it would be really nice to have like maze leading to 3 different bosses when another maze leading to three different bosses and when having one bullet soape at the end where it takes you like three weeks to get every thing and even then you still gotta go back in and do it until you have the fill set and I do really like mechanics etc but they need to be forgiving at times aksis allows you five chance to take him down if your good enough you can do with 4 man team some bosses how ever like vosiks you if to have all 6 alive or else your going to do it so is nice not to have to spend three hours on a boss finally getting it right with all 6 of you still alive. It would be really nice to have a secret boss in a raid like I mentioned. vault of glass did have that air of mestery where you could of have a protal to a different area and it was nice to have that would of been even nicer if that actually happend but atleast no it didn't. I like long raids which take maybe hours doing but maybe a short raid would be nice every now and when. There should always be more than one way to get to highest light be that raid or too but having pvp give gear that gives an advantage that is so far ahead would be bad if the perks only affect pve when that would be okay but to such an point where if you didn't have it when you can't compete when no pvp reward should be like that. While I agree that the best gear should come from the raid it should only be really good for pve I liked how we get gear with like heavy ammo drops etc but it seems kind of useless unless we have something more to do just seems like there is a glass half full their perhaps there should be an endless enemy mode there we could put all this raid gear to good use it just seems not fulling. Although I agree with you about the vex that's exactly what it is like with snipers at the moment there is no counter other than snipe yourself. But exotics should be exotic even if it is just that small advantage over lengendry I used to love plan c in year one cause of the range the stability and the charge rate exotics are so weak now they taken the fun out of getting them I actually prefer getting legendary from shaxx's bounty cause exotics are so rubbish and I hate it when I get a exotic instead of a lengendry and that is such a shame. One thing I hate about pvp is that the guns are great and that there is no way to get them other than play pvp and the fact that it's rng rewards and not placement rewards.

  • Now a lot to talk about this time any way places ignore the grammar and the spelling mistake I will try and tidy this up later. So much that I have to do it in three reply wow so part one I never brotherd with getting to tear 12 but at one point just before roi came out I had a near tier 13 but when they bought out roi they sightly lowered based stats on gear and so it was reduced to a tear 12 and now I beary break tear 12 if I can even get that high but when all I care about is having full int and dis on all my pvp and pve gear I do build for subclass in pvp trying to get extra armour on sub class etc but in pve I only care about one subclass the one I use most solar on warlock void on Titan and hunter also it must have sniper rife ammo and rocket ammo in pve and having health regen when picking up orbs, also I do care about sniper rife reload arms cause that can really help dps and get 12 straight shots on the boss or 12 in dps stage instead of 8 shots cause that does matter just wished my whole team cared about that but only I do so I can sometimes be the difference in my clans raid team and they don't do it without me simply because they aren't set up right. Now when in pvp the only thing I care about is having increased melee attack speed perk on my arms cuase that will be a life or death perk if you don't have that in a melee battle will you lose out and having get super engry from grenade kills on my helmets does help, So if reward armour if it does not do what I'm after and if I can't unlock anything from getting a full set or gives me benefits in the raid it goes in the bin which is a shame most of my vault on armour is full of exotics I don't use or mark fuel so if they do bring out new rolls on guns I can get them without having to grind for more marks. I also agree that with out reforge the grind is too much and meny players will not invest large amounts of time if it's not worth it in fact if you ask to much they just go and play other games and I'm one of those people so are a lot I know. But most have an even shorter amount of time that is why pvp is so dead at the moment only people who can be really brotherd to put time in month after month for that god roll gun will be on and the player base will just get smaller and smaller. Having a high cost reforge on both guns and armour would bring a lot of people back and keep them playing for longer in order to get those really rare guns and when get god rolls on them. I agree if destiny keeps on asking for us to do this much they will lose some of their player base but atleast destiny is not a another cod clone where depending on how much time you invest in pvp will allow you to have all the best guns and abilities which is a bit stupid cause when what would be the point of even playing pve if we can't use the same gear we got in pve in pvp? So I would like to see etheir that we can get perk nodes and make our own guns and armour or high price reforge of all perks or single perks come back cause I hate throwing away great guns just cause they don't have a perk like rifed barrel or hand laid stock on them.

  • This show was interesting, I was locked into listening the whole time. A few things: -Thoughts on possible new/reworked sub-classes: Completely agree with redwing, I'm not interested in re grinding subs just because they changed a few nods. Those supers would have to be completely revamped for me to what to re invest time into leveling them. I'd be fine with new guardians, but I'd love to continue using my guardians. I don't mind a fresh start with weapons, gear, light level, ect. Completely agree redwing. -What would you like raids to be like in D2?: I'm not sure what kind of player I am( hardcore, causal, or in between), but I liked WoTm. I like not feeling the need to play it for six months to get something to drop. I like it because I was free to do multiple thing, not being lock into a raid for 6+ hrs. I understand that hardcore players like stuff like that, but I just don't have the time. I was one of those people who didnt play VoG much (may have completed....10 time or less? idk). I'd like to see a raid where you don't have to wipe if half the fire team dies. I'd be cool to see one player save the day. I know a lot of you may disagree, but Crota and WoTm were my fav hands down fav raids. Id love to see a 2-6 player raid. -Is reaching 400 too easy?: I don't think so.There is no way I would have been able to hit 400 if I hadn't played the raid and iron banner. Before the heroic Wotm came out and there faction packages gave you high level gear you could say that it was way to easy to level up, but right now no. Hitting 400 atm means nothing anyway. You can literally beat everything in the game before hitting 400. -Dedicated servers: New engine? better have Dedicated Servers. If D2 is going to be on PC, you know it will have them. Cant wait for mods(not game braking mods) if possible.

Im only going to respond to the topics i actually have a strong opinion about, since im not a pve player Highly recommend reading the teamwork section, I put it first since I feel the strongest about that topic
Teamwork (highly recommended read) Ill start with something i told redwing when she said, ttk should be based on teamwork, and should be slower "I understand, but the way destiny is set up is that everyone plays the role of damage dealer. With defender being the support Basing gunplay on teamplay is impossible with the classes we have available Overwatch is allowed to have lower ttk because there are 4 different roles. The closest thing to team work in destiny is team shotting Thats more of exploiting bad positioning. In overwatch healers usually sway gunfights heavily so often tanks or supports have to help sway the tide. To simply base team work on gunplay while also making it slower is destructive. It only worked in halo due to everyone having generic equipment but has to fight for power weapons and had to work together in vehicles . If they are gonna make gunplay a part of teamwork, healers and damage mitigaters need to be more prevelant" Bdobbins had an excellent video explaining this, linked here and above https://youtu.be/kHW8z6g9tG4 I dont agree entirley with his solutions, im just saying destinys teamplay really isint present because everyone is a damage dealer. As for communication, overwatch uses a communication wheel you can wave hi, emote, but you can call a group up, you can say when your super is ready, but beyond that it also has audio cues Every character has a quote when they use an ability. For example, when mercy dashes to heal you, you hear " im right beside you" . Or lucio always calling out what boost he is giving, but also cued by what song he is playing. Destiny does weapon audio cues fine with, you know exactly what is firing at you, but there is no variation. Overwatch aslo has audio cues for supers, as well as destiny. Not only can you tell your team what charge it is at, but you know if its friendly or not. For example enemy abilities are red, and yours are blue so you know who's they are. But since overwatch has a multi culture cast, they do a very unique thing, if a teamate uses a super, then they say the quote in english, but if an enemy sombra for example uses it, she will say it in her native language, Spanish. Ive played many games in overwatch without speaking a word in the mic, because the audio cues and emote wheel are perfectly done, and allow teamwork with even having to really speak. Destiny should do team color abilties since elements are usless in pvp anyways , but also there should be a distinct sound difference between a teamate and an enemy using an ability or super. The emote wheel works wonders on its own, and id like to see that little bit of effort put in. Payoffs worth the grind The poor Payoffs from the grind is bad in several ways. 1) Mutiple nerfs have ruined many of the rewards recieved from all activities. I remember getting a random shotguh from future war cult called the crash, and running that from the dark below to house of wolves. Everything had awesome perks and fit in the meta, now everything feels so useless and needs a perk that does not desrtoy the guns range or stability to be any good, Rebuffing weapons and readding the old field scout, perfect balance, send it/range perks should make more rewards feel much better 2) the grind itself is horrid. I said it on the last cast i was on, the sword quest was a chore, literally taking laps around patrol for hours to get a rare material isint a test of skill or a feat, it only tests your patience. There has to be better ways to improve the grind. Archons forge is the best arena in the game, they should really put more rewards into it and make offerings purchasable. And able to hold Mutiple. Strikes got new twists and bounties which are great an have made me enjoy progressing. Strike chests should also hold more engrams so they arent just one and done. Revampingthe old raids, so we have at least some variation in grinding So we need better rewards, and more fun. I say think house of wolves, all activities and all rewards are viable Should gear be reworked? As it stands, sure more murmers, sleepers, pocket infinity, should be in the game, they are fun and great concepts. It when it comes to perks and upgrades, its like i said before, its not the gear itself, its just how Ieffective its perks are and the state of balance. Only things that need leginamet reworks are armor perks. Maybe more perks to help melee range, radius, damage, some kind of variation of that, or maybe armor with icarus. Core gameplay is right where it should be, we know gear can be worth it, they showed us in house of wolves. Lets see if they learned from their mistakes Reworked subclasses I feel like the only sublasses that need reworks are gunslinger and bladedancer, sunsinger has an awesome role in pve now, its just that that roll should be more menacing in pvp. As for gunslinger, its just a lazy perk tree, chain of woe and g's trance can be found on weapons and armor. But they need a headhshot to be activated. Gunslinger should be all damage dealer with no mobilty enhancements or survivability those perks should stay on armor. Bladedancer feels the same. Titans already our run bladedancer in every aspect, and warlocks can get their special handling perks too. And the titans dune marchers practically make the Bladedancers useless. Its should be a lot more shifty, i say lose the whole run faster, and fast hands thing, and get a more faster actions and quicker pounce mentality. I say some kind of perk to get icarus since hunters do a lot of jumping, more perks that retain mobility while firing like dance machines, maybe a perk that lets you shoot while sprinting (totally balanced sonce there is no armor buff here) . I say stop trying to make bladedancer a mobilty class with some sleight of hands andd turn it into, " i can do multiple things effectively while mobile, and mobilty does not affect my ability to fight while on the move Op weapons I agree that people shouldent worry too much about what killed them, but they should worry why their weapons preferences are soo inefficient. The only weapons that have ever been op in this game, are thorn, last word, suros, vex, firebolts, and maybe felwinter. Those weaons have been trashed to uselessness, so my concern is why i dont see them in that kill message, not ehy the clever dragon is there instead. People are always gonna complain, but we need to go back to year 1 pvp, that had the most variety, and the only real complaints where the ones against justified weapons like vex and thorn, everything else has just ruined pvp
Good cast, hopefully bungie listened to this one

Great episode! I'm obsessed with my gear. I gave up on all tier 12 hopes. I spent so much time grinding to find all tier 11 load outs ... with every primary reloader (except autos... because well.. 😔) + fast melee ...With chest and leg pieces to maximize shot gun or sniper ammo ...With chests with the extra armor boost for each subclass element. ... with boots with second wind. I was so happy when i finally completed each set for each character for each subclass.... Until I saw tier 12 was possible 😢

            • Am I missing something about t12? Is it more of a "I'm bored guess this is something to grind for" kind of thing or is there significant benefit over t10 or t11? All I see is a 6-11 second reduction to melee, I play for super/grenade at 5/5 and don't really sweat melee. Being a scout/sniper user playing up close and personal isn't something I do too often anyways.

-The harsh reality of achieving Tier 12 One helluva grind (especially for having T12 and suitable perks). IMO, only worth it for people with little else to do in the game, or the truly hardcore player who needs that tiny edge. -Payoffs worth the grind No. Almost nothing is worth it. Weapons? Meh (PvP did us a solid on that one). Armor? No. It's all cosmetic. There is nothing special about gear except looks. -Should gear be reworked for D2? Absolutely! Would love to see gear set bonuses. Gear that is tailored for a specific activity or enemy (not just raid gear). How about Fallen gear that allows more to damage to Fallen? As you progress through and fight tougher Fallen enemies, you need more of that gear. Elemental primaries could work the same way. Each race is weak to certain elements, thus making them useful for something besides NF? -Is reaching 400 too easy? They need to separate level from Light. Reaching max level should be a time/reward mechanic like normal. Max light should be more representative of max dps output/intake and reflected based on current loadout. Example: Yes, you're 400 now. But that loadout is not maximized. There are other weapons which will dole out more dps. Thus, your light would be the equivalent of 403 or 405. Dig? -Endgame gear vs faction Raid gear is about the unique gear in the game. Everything is basically a reskin of something else. -In-game chat, has it been handled right or should it be reworked in D2? Reworked. When they implemented Proxy chat and Fireteam chat, it was, and still is, Opt-in (manually choose to participate). Really kind of a waste. Whoever thought that was a good idea should've been fired. Always Opt-out. They can always change the setting later. I guarantee that few people realize it's an option because of this. -Dedicated servers Are a must for a quality experience in today's world. -Speaking of D2... Lets speculate!!! A nice idea for D2 would be to have your account work across all platforms. Link your account to Bungie.net and then use that account info to log into the game.

                  1) The harsh reality of achieving Tier 12 Never really cared much about this. I go with whatever gear looks good on my characters, yes I'm one of those who has the gear shape the personal tastes of my characters (Damn Roleplayer in me, lol). So getting tier 12 has never been a thing I really strive for. 2) Payoffs worth the grind Should always be a reward equal to the effort done, otherwise there isn't really a point to the game, is there? 3) Should gear be reworked for D2? Yes. Too many perks. They need to resimplify things, and get things right this time. They have just done way to many things, with little direction. 4) Thoughts on possible new/reworked subclasses Don't mind it at all, nor re-leveling, as that's just the RPG player in me. If they are getting rid of weapons and armor, as much as I love Found Verdict and Vision of Confluence, I wouldn't mind them gone if it meant the game would be a vastly better experience. Same goes with subclasses, as this gives them that opportunity, should they re do the old ones, to better define what role they are meant to be. The only thing I'd want to keep is my Huntress' "Strength of the Pack" cloak, as the wolf motif goes with her identity. That's it. 5) What would you like raids to be like in D2? Fun and accessible. See I'm still dumbfounded by RWGs reactions re bullet sponges, as this raid is way less bullet spongy than previous raids. Not only that, but traditionally a boss character is ALWAYS a bullet sponge in every game ever made. I dunno, I just still scratch my head everytime I hear it. 6) Is reaching 400 too easy? It should be easy to be able to obtain max level. No in game activity should dictate how you get there. Personally, I wish they'd take a traditional level up system, and gear would not factor in at all with leveling, but that's me. 7) Endgame gear vs faction See, it's hard to judge, as most endgame gear is required in order to get to that maximum level. Should endgame gear be good? Yes? Should it be the be all end all? Yes and no? 8) OP weapons Dunno about OP weapons, but there needs to be separation between PvE and PvP. This is one of the main problems this game has suffered for, and what caused this steady nerfs to everything in this game. This will allow us to play how we want in PvE and not suffer the wrath of The whining from the other side, and vice versa. 9) Teamwork in PvP I dunno. I feel it's not just a teamwork thing, but rather that most of the game modes were designed as TDM variants, in that it promoted solo style play in the first place. I mean let's look at each mode. Clash is TDM, hands down; Control is TDM with an optional objective that really has no direct bearing other than adding a multiplier to your kills. Rumble is TDM free for all; skirmish is TDM but for threes. Salvage is also TDM with an optional objective, as kills grant score points. (All the base game modes). Sure if we add a few of the newer modes, there are finally some variety (Rift is a mix of TDM and a slight CTF mechanic, Supremacy is TDM, but with an objective that actually means something. Zone Control is the classic CoD Domination game type, and Elimination, which is a TDM single life variant), but most have been just TDM game modes, which promotes less need for teamwork. Had they made modes that did not require kills=win as extensive as they are, there would be mode need for teamwork. That being said, I dislike Rift for Rift. It's an insufferable game mode that promotes spawn trapping, and it's just garbage. I hated that type of play in other shooters, and I hate it here. That's why I cannot stand it as an IB week, and I look forward to IB. I've played it with teams too, and still couldn't have fun, even if we were the ones dominating with spawn traps. 10) In-game chat, has it been handled right or should it be reworked in D2? Yes and no? Truth be told I can't stand ESOs proximity chat and not being able to just mute it is just fn annoying. I'd hate to see that style system incorporated for Destiny 2. That being said, I don't quite think that Bungie handled the chat correctly. Part of me thinks that to some extent, the PvP wasn't supposed to get that much focus, hence they didn't have anything really setup properly for it, especially when vanilla really needed chat for only VoG otherwise. Now that they have made the game more reliant on group play in multiple areas, they need to have that as a better system in D2. 11) Dedicated servers If D2 will be on PC, hopefully they will incorporate dedicated servers to console, but I wouldn't put it past them to keep console p2p regardless. I guess something that somewhat bugs me with the PC thought is that where is the story going to be making sense, since D1 wasn't on PC. Scares me somewhat. 12) Favorite moments of the week Since I haven't played a ton of destiny in a while I don't particularly have an in game moment of the week. However, my favorite moment of the week is getting plugged on the podcast (yea! name was pronounced correctly! 😁👍), and the fact I got to use a Dungeons and Dragons reference on you, Sols. It shows while we may not always agree, we can have a good laugh in the conversations we do have, lol.

-The harsh reality of achieving Tier 12 Tier 12 is so simple to achieve. The grand truth of it all if someone wanted to, they can have it done within a day. -Payoffs worth the grind Destiny's grind has never been a payoff. People will say year one they got great weapons/amour. But, limited choices. Where now you get a million options of crap. -Should gear be reworked for D2? D1 and D2 should be totally separate. This way we can avoid all the whining and complaining of weapon and armour imbalances. -Speaking of D2... Lets speculate!!! Meh. D2 has no excitement for me. Bungie can not seem to do any type of game play correctly. Though, the artwork is amazing. That, well. Amazing. -Thoughts on possible new/reworked subclasses Something needs to be done about them. They lack any form of... mmmm. pizazz -What would you like raids to be like in D2? Destiny needs to go away from raids as they do not do them well. -Is reaching 400 too easy? No, deeps on if you a solo person or not. -Endgame gear vs faction There should be no difference. Both of them are a pain in the ass to get and have crap looks and perks. -OP weapons Nothing is OP. Again I'll refer to my kids comments, "The weapons are fine, people are just deer in a head light when they see a shot gun." -Teamwork in PvP PVP only has team work if you play with the same group of people. Other than that, there is the odd group that have 2 marbles. -In-game chat, has it been handled right or should it be reworked in D2? Never have used it. Use the console chat. -Dedicated servers Don't need them. People just need to get off the wifi and stop with the walmart/mc Donald's connections. -Favorite moments of the week Receiving my whiskey, sake and beer import from Japan. Mmmmmm. Beer.
where is the topic on the chicken cannon! Come on! Help a guardian out!
• I can get Tier 12 in any combination on all 3 characters, since mid-Y2, and it was easy to achieve and manage. Having Destiny Item Manager (extension to Chrome browser on PC) is key, and switching on the stat % option. You then have a horizontal & vertical view of all your armor with 100% items shown in Blue, 94-99% in Green, 93-90% Yellow and so on... It also includes a loadout builder which identifies the best possible combinations for Tier 12 and allows you to save that loadout and switch between them on all 3 chars. Most of my high stat legendary armor came from IB & Trials. When I get new Exotic armor I can immediately compare it to my existing version and if it has higher stats, replace otherwise dismantle

                    • Something I wanted to add to the discussion about possibly needing to re-level character subclasses in destiny 2: Read vault of glass 3 grimoire card. Rasputin 5 also is somewhat relevant. There's a good chance we'll lose the city and the tower at the beginning of destiny 2 and have to flee to the outer solar system, if not further. Maybe even leaving the traveler behind because of Rasputin, who still can't make up his mind as to whether guardians are human enough to protect directly. Among other things this could mean a changing with what kind of powers our existing elemental subclasses could use, necessitating a wipe of powers and abilities and learning new ones. Possibly even after playing a prologue chapter that encompasses our fight to protect the tower and then flee it,band after that we have to learn new things. I do agree, however, that bought items/rewards should migrate forward, but as cosmetic things that can be applied to new items later on. Skins, basically.

                      • Commented on youtube as well... I didn't start paying attention until late last year, and once I did, I was at tier 12 within 2 weeks. I was more worried about perks and matching loadouts than I was about looks and tier 12. With a little patience and, yes, grind, and other sacrifice (looks, sets, etc.) you can get there. Only one piece of my tier 12 gear is crucible based, my boots, from Trials. Everything else has come from engrams and faction packages. I have multiple builds that allow tier 12 in multiple configurations (4 across all three, heavy Int/Str or Dis/Str etc.). It speaks to "play your way," and as bad as I am in the crucible I look for any advantage I can. I get 100% ghosts from the Archon's Forge and 100% class items from the forge and strikes all the time. I spent some time the other day pulling armor from the Rise of Iron accomplishment book (maybe 30 minutes), upgrading the level 3 item with the previous armor from the book, until I got a tier 12 item. Took maybe 30 minutes.

Edit: -Should gear be reworked for D2? I'm new to fpsmmo (if that's what we are calling destiny), but I think they should just do away with weapon rolls, or different variants of the same gun. I think it would make it a lot easier to balance. Wait wait wait...or gear, and weapons should behave differently in pve and pvp idk I'm not a dev. I'd love to see Destiny kiosk In D2. -What would you like raids to be like in D2?
Id love to see a 2-6 player raid.
Zero stole this from me, We'll see him in court. But yeah, only raid I've ever played is WoTm, and people were brutal in the beginning. When I beat it, that was it for me. I don't think I'll ever raid again if its not with the right team. Watched people play the other raids, and I have to say I love WoTm in every way. I don't have 4+ hrs to grind a raid and I wouldn't mind more raids like WoTm (alone on this one? lol). Even with the crazy people yelling like kids it was a fun raid. I beat Crota, but that was more of a strike -Dedicated servers It's a must do, I mean I don't see any reason not to have them. -Thoughts on possible new/reworked subclasses I'm all for it, as long as our guardians and subs transfer over. I don't care about anything else transferring, maybe because its not my account I'm playing on lol. Good show guardians!

Firs off big shout out to Sol's and RWG stepping in during Akisis phase two and helping getting that Outbreak Prime quest done! More times than I can count you two have helped me get raids done. Never really tried to get tier 12 gear. Just not something I ever focused on. Probably cause I am just not that competitive Crucible type. I will have to put more thought into it though. Grinding is fine if it eventually leads to a pay off. Right now I get way to many duplicate drops and class items. Vendor gear is nice but what do I need another 390 boots for? Or another 77 Wizard? Right now I feel like the grinding is kinda pointless. IMO no weapon, perk or what ever is OP or unfair. To much of that has gone on already and it hasnt worked. Nerfs just ruined allot of what made us feel powerful in PvE. Its time to look at other ways to "balance". Getting to 400 took me a long time and I am still rounding out my other two characters. My "luck" with RNG isnt good. I dont raid much so I dont get many ways to aquire raid gear. Restrictions on the best loot tied to a feature that you can't easily access in game sucks for players like me. Having to post want ads on line sucks even more. Give us actual in game social features to build teams proper and it wouldn't be so bad. Yes the Vex is still great on close quarters maps and especially in modes like Supremacy. It does require a good hand. Love my ILL Will when running Goldengun. With the right perks it just nasty. Same with some ARs. Just have to mess around with builds and perks. To many players put focus on getting that kill with a weapon alone. This isn't always the best way to use that weapon. Sometimes they complement other things like grenades or perks or even a map. Dont drink the Kool Aid go experience these for your self. Mess around on Patrol, go play Private matches, as suggested. You might be surprised.

                            • Destiny had a $500 million dollar budget. Elder scrolls online had a $200 million dollar budget. Elder scrolls online is at least seven times the size of Destiny. Maybe money management would be a good idea, maybe spending more money on the game instead of advertising would be a wise move. Imagine a Destiny 2 with miles upon miles of space to explore, imagine a Destiny 2 with mature content, with a well told story. Maybe we might get the game we hoped for with Destiny 1.

                              • How they can fix PvE. Take what works in WarFrame I've been playing that game for the past week and if Bungie took there example they can re-creat PvE into somethings amazing while keeping Destiny's identity untouched. I'll make a post about it soon. Just some food for thought. Good podcast as always sols.

I listened through the whole podcast early this morning and I wanted to weigh in on a few topics. First, before I get there, I'd like to thank Synge and Durandal for their input on this particular podcast, as you both weighed in on topics that I really care about - that is, endgame activities and endgame rewards. Now down to the meat and potatoes: 1. Tier 12 gear: Min/Maxing my stats (Strength, Intellect, Discipline) has never been a focal point for me. I get nearly 80% of my kills from either my Primary or Secondary weapon, so I'm not constantly spamming my grenade or melee, and there are often times where I don't even pop my super in the game. In the future (D2) I would like to see a system where the stats (Strength, Intellect, Discipline) are determined by character level. You should only get a limited amount of points based on character level, and you should be forced to make a choice (for instance, level 30 gets 30 "stat points" that you can divide between the three stats as you wish). This would make the game much more like a traditional RPG and would offer a benefit to being max level (as opposed to light level), which would give a sense of progression, even with a simple "level up." Maybe its me, but I honestly don't think people should be grinding their butts off for something that may shave a few seconds off their regen times. It seems like a LOT of effort for very little gain. 2. Of the alleged D2 Reboot: I'm with Redwingsgirl, in that I DO NOT want to lose all of my gear, and this would be doubly so if I actually paid for silver (I didn't.). However, I DO think a total reboot is necessary because of how badly they have screwed up the loot system in Y2. Everyone loved 3oC when we first got them, but as we realized the longterm affects on the game, I think more and more people are seeing them as a negative influence. But you can't undo the damage they've already done to the game if everything transfers over. It's a difficult thing to swallow, as I, too, expected this game to be continually added to as the game progressed, with no reboot necessary. And we've already suffered ONE reboot, with TTK (and it's gone poorly IMO). But would a reboot be worth it? IMO, absolutely, but they must do it for the right reasons. And IMO, the right reasons include hitting the reset button on the game's broken loot system. A total reboot would be acceptable if they had to do it in order to separate PVE balance from PVP. 3. Raids: All of you went back and forth on how the raids should be, (longer and more mechanics vs. shorter, less mechanics, etc.). I really don't think this is an either/or proposition though. I enjoyed VoG like everyone else. I loved Crota even though it was a much shorter raid, and an entirely different experience. I even liked Kings Fall - I just didn't a reason to repeatedly play it. Can't comment on WoTM because I don't have ROI. But I think having different varieties of raids, with different mixes of mechanics vs. DPS is a good thing. If every raid was purely mechanical, it would get boring after a while. If its purely DPS, its boring after a while. I think what makes each raid unique is that they stress different skills, and I DO like that they each present different challenge levels. Overall, I don't think its a bad thing for them to mix it up and throw new stuff at us (And I'm STILL waiting for a raid that features a Sparrow run...). I don't think it would be good for them to make raids only one way. 4. Raid/Endgame Rewards: With that said, we need a reason to play the raids. I love Destiny because I love to raid, but we simply aren't going to raid if we don't have a reason to. This is the reason why I think nobody is raiding 4 months after release of RoI. The raid gear, on paper, is an improvement from Kings Fall gear, which was just absolute trash. But its not GOOD ENOUGH. The raid is the hardest PVE content in the game. The Nightfall is the next hardest. These pieces of content should be difficult to do, and should reward those who complete it with some of the best loot in the game. PERIOD. This should include elite tier exotics AND raid gear. On paper, WoTM's gear is really only on par with Vendor Gear. I understand the raid perk makes them useful in the raid, but they lack the +1 factor that VoG gear had. And VoG gear is a great comparison, because its raid perk was ALSO very niche, like the gear for WoTM. The reason we sought after VoG gear and kept running it over and over because its gear had that +1 factor (elemental damage). WoTM gear DOES NOT have that +1 factor, and therefore, its really only on par with vendor gear. So why would I take on that kind of challenge if I was only going to get gear that is on par with vendor gear or strike gear? Most people have taken a look at the gear, done the math, and figured out that their efforts are best spent elsewhere, like running strikes. Strikes, for me, are not PVE/Endgame meat and potatoes, so ROI and TTK really had nothing to offer me. Raids need to give the BEST (higher) chances to drop the elite exotics than all other content, and the raid gear needs to be hands down better than gear you get outside the raid. People complain that they get pigeonholed into using the raid weapons because of elemental damage and I think the compromise solution is to allow players to dismantle raid weapons and get an RNG chance to obtain the elemental core from the gun you took apart (For instance, Fatebringer would give Arc core). Then you can put that core in any gun you want. This system would give us continued reasons for doing the raid even AFTER we have gotten all the best gear that can drop from the raid. 5. OP Weapons: We need some really OP weapons to seek in PVE. Endgame rewards need to be the kind that reduce grind. Having these kind of guns are great rewards that add replayability to other areas of the game because they change the nature of the grind and take the tediousness out of generally mundane content. For instance, G-horn, B-hammer, etc. all reduced strike completion times because they were so powerful. This actually made strikes FUN to play because you actually got a sense that your guardian had grown in power by doing the endgame. You just don't get that sense here. But OP guns in PVE often wreck balance in PVP. To the extent that balance should even be a goal in PVP, the two modes need to be fully separated so we can enjoy some really awesome, powerful, and fun weaponry in PVE. And again, these OP, grind reducing guns need to come from endgame only. If they are available to everyone by quest or through intermediate content, there is simply no incentive to do any other content harder than the intermediate content. Reward great effort with great loot! 6. Ease of reaching LL 400: I cut against the grain on this one. I think its a good thing to have a pathway to max light outside of the raid. I have no problem with that. Do I think its too easy? Yeah, I do. But it's the nature of the beast. I personally would prefer that they go to a straight exp progression system rather than this convoluted light level system. Why? Because I don't think RNG should play any roll in your character's progression in regards to power/light level. I think RNG should determine your loot drops, and where RNG doesn't reward you, you should still feel like you got something out of the time you played. In this system, you may not have gotten the drop you wanted, but you got some exp towards your next level. They can do something where level ups beyond max level grant you motes of light which allow you to buff certain powers by consuming the mote to, for example, increase the damage of your super. These power changes would only apply to PVE so it doesn't affect PVP balance, and it would give a sense of progression so you don't feel like your week is wasted, just because you ran all 3 raids and nightfalls and didn't get a G-horn. By the way, this would also end strike speed runs, since people would have an incentive to kill everything in the strike to maximize exp gain... Final thoughts: Ultimately, Destiny right now is a game I WANT to like and I WANT to play and enjoy, but I simply can't anymore. Y2 brought the end to endgame relevance, and I'm just waiting to see if that trend continues into D2. This game was never more fun for me than in Y1 when we had incentive to run/rerun the raids every week, and we were excited to come home after work to run x3 nightfalls for a chance at getting an exotic. Hell, it was fun to run heroic strikes, which were mini-nightfalls for guaranteed coins. Y2 destroyed all of that and replaced it with nothing but 3oC and strikes, and PVP. IMO, we're at a cross roads. This game can become the great game we all thought it would be before Vanilla launched. But it can also become a space-themed CoD game with aliens. And I think we're all just watching to see what direction it actually goes in.
