A friendly reminder that real life matters..

For the "destiny elitists" and the guys who just can't seem to do anything other than play destiny- remember that real life always comes first. Today I was playing and overheard a young dad send his son off crying because he was in the way of the TV when it sounded to me like his son (maybe three or four years old) just wanted to spend time with his dad. Not cool. Before you make a full time job out of destiny, make sure you have everything you need first, and if there are people that depend on you for something other than raiding or trials, be sure to give them the time of day. If you're the guy who overlooks your family for a quick raid- you're doing it wrong- and I will never care what your KD is. Edit1: I find it interesting the number of replies telling me to mind my own business. Well that's exactly what I did. Instead of giving the guy a hard time I simply thought I would post here as a reminder that this game will never matter as much as your actual life. Edit2: I'd like to add that this is one example of MANY. I'm a year one player. I could probably tell you 100 different instances over the years of flat out neglect. I personally know someone divorced because of this game. Please understand that this is not out of "assumption."

  • Mind not asking. How much life experience do you have giving people advice?

    • A bit off topic, but there are plenty of other games too. Don't burn out on Destiny because you play it 24/7. I've been playing a lot of Titanfall 2, Skyrim SE, Division Survival, and Battlefield 1. Destiny gets old pretty quick.

      • There's been too many times that I'd like to admit to hearing kids crying in the background while their parents are playing a video game, makes me sick to my stomach as a Father of two boys myself, I cant even imagine doing that to my kids, No game or anything else for that matter is more important...Nothing!

        • It depends on the scenario tbh. If the kid was actually wanting to spend time with his dad and the dad shunned him, that's pretty dumb. But you know how kids are. If he were doing something like saying, "Can I play?" over and over, or tattling on a sibling for something minor, then I'd understand why the father did what he did.

            • Also, was this guy using an exotic as a primary outside of PvP? If so, he does sound like a dick.

                • That's some valid reasoning right there indeed. Thanks for the reality check brother. I do most of my playing when everyone is sleeping for this exact same thing.

                • The reason why i only play destiny is because real life is first, i only have time to play one or two games. If i had more time and didn't care about my health i could play anything anytime and be the most FPS skilled lardass that ever rolled onto a sofa.

                • Real life matters, it's very true. This has to be stated before I say this, alright? If you're supposed to be watching your kid, or you don't spend time with them, then you effin suck and you need to get the hell off the game. Kids are constantly demanding attention, all the time, without a care for anybody else in the world. Thank the gods for that because they keep us grounded, reminds us about what's necessary. Kids are also shits too. If you're a father or a mother and you've found time in this insane mess of a life to get down on some video gaming then, hell, go you! If your kids are intruding on what little You time that you can scrape together can you blame someone for being mad with them? Love your kids with all your heart but don't let them trample you.

                • This is so true. I hear and hear about way too many occurrences of situations like this.
