People shouldnt be able to enter crucible unless they pass a connection test.
This red bar bullshit is gone too far.
Every game on earth has requirements. You cant play polo without a horse, or race formula one in a fiat punto. But you can excel at a precision based multiplayer game that relies on good stable connections to function with a throttled laggy connection.
Make a lag section for em all. Let em on.

1 ReplyTakin Crucible way too seriously. Way too seriously.

7 RepliesThat's a great idea. Someone pays $60 for Destiny, finishes downloading it after 3 hours, and then they aren't even allowed to play it. That'll bring in more players.

2 RepliesI'm disappointed... When i saw the title i thought it was gonna be a salty meta post mandatory requirements to play crucible - clever dragon -matador -truth -striker titan or lighting hands warlock I'm disappointed in you for addressing your concerns with the crucible operations and trying to provide ideas and feedback. Who do you think you are this forum is for irrational radical nerfherders. Good day sir.

Edited by RAIST5150: 12/26/2016 6:53:17 PMProblem is that red bar may not be because of their connection. And a green bar is not necessarily an accurate reflection of actual data transfers. It is round trip time tested between the players. Two separate UDP streams to make that happen. For instance, you to them and subject to your ISP's routing, and again from them to you and subject to their ISP's routing. Provided ports are opened and forwarded properly, it should be an accurate account of the latency during data transfers. If ports are blocked at either end though, it can be misleading. If ports are blocked on either end or otherwise rendered unusable (corrupted/delayed/lost), then the data may resort to synching via the dedicated server connection, which is on a 100ms refresh cycle over TCP and not the ~33ms refresh cycle between the consoles over UDP.

22 RepliesEdited by panzerfaust: 12/25/2016 4:14:41 PMYou are wrong! Here's a few things: 1. Poor design/architecture - For a AAA title who pretends to be 'competitive' it's not acceptable that it doesn't provide region based infra-structure. Does the game studio doesn't know how the internet works? Hardly (otherwise it goes into incompetence). Do they care? Clearly not!. There should be client side counter-measures like dropping a player right on upon the presence of packet loss. Greed? Sure, not having regional based infra-structure is cheaper, using the clients connections for service is even worst as it can be easily tampered with some firewall tricks. 2. Idiots in the community - This is a fun topic, because no one like to wait on matchmaking. Good so let's join Asians and Americans with Europeans.... Worst lets join people with awesome infra-structure like Portugal (state of the art infra-structure and connectivity ensured by great peering points for europe) with people from Brazil, Dominican Republic and Peru... WOW.... easy ban for all of them... Europeans should play with Europeans.... We understand if queuing takes longer at 03:00AM because not that many people online, but still better wait than having crap experience with people on the other side of the globe. So the community is also responsible for pushing the game developer to go such ways... 3. Internet - The internet itself runs on wicked ways and based in crap ancient protocols like BGP; There's absolutly no guarantees things are optimize and traffic is returned through optimal routing. YOUR ISP's might not be willing to pay for decent peering point agreements with other ISP's; Not all ISP's have decent bandwith or infra-structure... It's been like this for years... No one is going to change it because it costs money... For the last 15 years that everyone is messing with IPv6, why don't everyone has IPV6? Because it costs money to change infra-structure... So.... Nothing people can change here... Mix all of this together and a few other points and you get what you have, a piss service that could be improved with localized regional infra-structure either by cutting traffic payload on the clients, either by having people with decent counter-measures against tampered networking and grouping people from a region.... But then again, it's all a matter of €'s, $'s. We pay premium for expansions with scrapped content, we pay premium for everything and we get shit service... Who's the real dumbasses? Seems like players are the idiots on the ecosystem, while everyone else is filling their pockets with gamers ignorance ;) I like this world... looks like the porn world from the 90's ;) EDIT: And by the way, I pay 29.99€'s per month for 100mbps upstream with 10mbps downstream; Illimited traffic plus TV and free phone (including 53 countries for international calls). My latencies to UK are around 40ms, to Germany 60ms, to Benelux 40ms, to France 30ms, etc.... 240ms to East Coast US... A shitload to Brazil...
People shouldnt be able to enter crucible unless they pass a connection test. This red bar bullshit is gone too far.
The green, yellow, and red bars indicate the strength of your connection to other players rather than the server. You can't 'test' your connection to specific individuals until you're matched with those individuals...

Edited by Jinx: 12/25/2016 6:57:02 PMDude, I have an unfortunate fact for you. The reason you're getting matchmade against red bars is because there aren't enough players in the pool and half of them are in fire teams with other people, who, having their friends banned from crucible will just stop playing it them selves. The alternative is having to sit and weight for half an hour for matchmaking so you can play a 15 minute game. Bungie is not going to take that action because it would be the meaningful end of pvp in their game. As it stands the condition we're in right now is because of months of poorly handled content and events, removing even more people from the pool in crucible, boom, with the exception of trials, the pvp in this game would be over.

1 ReplyTHE PROBLEM IS NOT THE PLAYERS. IF BUNGIE HAD DEDICATED SERVERS, THIS WOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE. HOW YOU EXPECT EVERYONE TO HAVE GREEN BARS IF THE HOST IS IN ASIA AND YOUR GREEN BAR DROPS TO A YELLOW OR RED BECAUSE OF THE DISTANCE BETWEEN YOU TWO. AS LONG AS DESTINY IS PLAYABLE IN P2P, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE RED BARS, AND LAG.
-
I will agree as well. If you don't have a good enough connection why be able to ruin other peoples fun.

Say hello to mahmud, mohammed , ali and all this ksa lag bitches.....

1 ReplyI dont see "red bar bullshit" much because my latency is good. If you see "red bar bullshit" enough that its "gone too far." then your connection is probably part of the problem and such a nerfing would impact yourself. Everyone who purchased the game and has internet should be able to play it, including yourself. Most people assume good bandwidth means their connection is fast. Actually the number you should forus on for live interaction is latency. Your ISP could be doing some wierdness with your routes to other players and you wouldnt even know. The only symptom you would see is red bar connections to some players with green bar to others. Look at this post for example. This person had google fiber (which people just assume if you have google fiber you cant be lagging.) and due to some bad routing they were getting horrible latency numbers. https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/fiber/WnPx7YeTb7U;context-place=topicsearchin/fiber/category$3Aprovo%7Csort:relevance%7Cspell:false If such a thing is going on it is completely out of your control and, Nasty Void, I would be very sad to see you blocked from pvp over something like this.

3 RepliesThese minimum pass marks would only work if connecting to a dedicated server network. What we have just now, pass a test to a bungie server for matchmaking that could be thousands of miles away, then continually pass a test to a migrating host in a p2p network where the host could be ten miles away then a few seconds later it could be thousands of miles away.
-
The fault is on bungie/activision for not having dedicated servers. Dont blame the player blame the creators! Because they created this situation to occur...voluntarily or not. Then there are those who just have bad connection. But hey at the end of the day its a game. Juat have FUN. Join another game or create a private match. 😀
-
The only problem is, they could have a good connection to the game, but they get matched up to a host across the globe and their connection to the host is shit. So they get a red bar.
-
Not realistic without dedicated servers.
