I'm speaking of mostly Destiny and Titanfall 2.
I play pilot vs pilot 99.9% of the time because, let's be real, how fair is titan vs human...
90% of the matches are completely one sided. I've been in 30 - 100 games where 2 guys on the team had no kills and double digit deaths. How is this type of matchmaking supposed to keep players, specifically noobs and casuals, playing these types of games?

2 RepliesList of FPS games with ranked playlists: TF2 Overwatch CS:GO Wow, thats not a lot. I couldn't think of any more.

Rainbow Six: Siege Come on guys

TitanFall 2 is sbmm. I'm pretty positive on that.

6 RepliesA pilot can destroy a titan pretty quickly or make it weak enough that another titan has easy work. When I'm in my titan I know to stay away from areas pilots can get the easy jump. Two good pilots can crush a titan pretty damn quick.

13 RepliesSBMM is terrible for any game, not just FPS. SBMM is literally one of the worst things a dev could implement into there game. It only ever benefits the worst of the worst.
-
5 RepliesWell sbmm is shit when you play any game with peer to peer, to respond to destiny, but in response to your question the design was to make it a challenge for those with skill, and the losses a bit easier for those without it. Because let's be honest both sides are looking for the above.

7 RepliesEdited by Capt Explodabob: 12/12/2016 6:31:16 AMThey do, two of the most popular shooters on Xbox have ranked and social hoppers, while PC has a myriad of them. If you only mean to refer to two games in particular, then refrain from creating such open ended titles in the future.

How many people do you reckon activated their rank chip in Titanfall? It wasn't often from what I recall. When I did use it , it wold absolutely tank the connections and would take forever to find a match in the first place. I think it's because people want to play the game more than they care about how well or poorly they perform in any given match. When I play casually, I don't want to wait 5 minutes staring at a loading screen before I get to play, but hey, that's just me.

6 RepliesEdited by steepergold555: 12/12/2016 2:46:29 PMI just hate pilots vs pilots, personally. It doesn't even feel like I'm playing Titanfall anymore. There probably also is sbmm, it's just the population pools are so small in a lot of modes that it doesn't matter.

Edited by Sturm with no Drang: 12/13/2016 5:39:11 AMWell, I can't help you if it's Destiny, but T-Fall is a whole different thing. What really matters is your playstyle, your main weapon you use in conjunction with your Pilot setup, and the map that you get thrown into. More often I find myself doing better on certain maps since I like to use a G2 and fight from a distance. Don't get me wrong now. I absolutely hate dealing with a Nemesis nailing me around each corner more than those jerks in Coliseum. Pilot vs Pilot is pretty much the first five minutes of an Attrition match before the first Titan gets called down. Treating them any differently won't help.

I thought destiny had it, and it made it even worse?

Edited by B1GT1LL: 12/12/2016 4:14:12 PMAll you people that don't like sbmm in a game with dedicated servers just want to pubstomp. When you are out against similar skilled opponents you cry. "SBMM lag boo this sucks blah blah". It's the foundation bungies game is set upon that's the problem. Peer to peer is bad M'kay.
dedicated servers with skill based Matchmaking makes games more fair that's logical reasoning.

I play pilot vs pilot 99.9% of the time
You mean you play Call of Duty. All joking aside, the only draw of Titanfall 2 is the opportunity to stomp around as a giant robot.
90% of the matches are completely one sided. I've been in 30 - 100 games where 2 guys on the team had no kills and double digit deaths. How is this type of matchmaking supposed to keep players, specifically noobs and casuals, playing these types of games?
N00bs and casuals don't play these types of games. They get frustrated, quit, and then the player population implodes. Games with a high skill curve need some kind of skill based or ranked playlists for long term success.

I prefer sitting down for a few minutes, shooting people and getting shot at, winning a few games, loosing a few games, and then leaving. After a certain point, SBMM prevents one from enjoying a casual game. I personally think games should have ranked playlists that used SBMM, while at the same time having casual playlists. There are games that do this, and it works quite well.

It's not generally liked Cuz the elite and the very good are prevented from feasting on noobs and "pub stomping." You are matched to same skills, every game is sweaty.

Edited by Tosevite 187: 12/12/2016 8:34:53 AMReally never understood this myself since the days of halo 2. Creates more (fair) games and actual competition and gives you something to track your progress against. When you remove ranking people just care about kd and will brag and flame each other about that

"How is this type of matchmaking supposed to keep players, specifically noobs and casuals, playing these types of games?" It's called a learning curve, every game has one. These players will keep playing playing because most of them dont expect to jump on a brand new game and dominate right out of the gate. As they continue to play they'll see gradual improvement which will serve to encourage them to keep going.

I dont want the Divisional Ranking systems like all the new games seem to be going with now a days I LOVED Halo 2 and Halo 3s 1-50 ranking system. I enjoy being able to rank up or down every match not every week or month. Wish games started using it again as it was super addicting and added massive replayability to Halos multiplayers.

I would much rather play a smooth pub stomp than a laggy, rubber band fest with an equally matched team on the other side of the world
