Attempting to obtain feedback from the community on reinstating the ability to re-forge (re-roll) weapons at the Gun Smith.
In my opinion, reforging weapons at the gun smith, for even 15 legendary marks and some materials, would not be game-breaking.
There are numerous benefits and advantages to reinstating this option, for which in my opinion, exceed the costs and disadvantages of reinstating it.
Edit #1: I appreciate all of the comments and participation.
It is obviously completely my opinion to reinstate reforging, but I believe it is at least a topic which should be discussed by the player base.
I am fairly certain the community will generally be divided on almost ever topic related to Destiny, but I think there are opportunities for consensus.
I am seeing a lot of thoughtful comments that support reinstating the ability to reforge weapons, but I have not seen a significant number of valid reasons for it not to be reinstated.
Edit #2:
I just checked my phone at work and we are trending.
I do not post often on the forums, but it is satisying to read some of the discussions taking place within the post.
I appreciate everyone's participation and comments to the poll!
Edit #3:
I just got home from work and saw we moved up closer to the top on the trending list, and there are some nice discussions taking place within the post.
The activity is bound to slow down sometime with Trials and other activities in Destiny, but we can still hold out hope for those at work, school, or away from the console to respond!
Edit #4:
We are almost to the top and still trending!
It is rewarding to read and review all of the high-quality posts and comments from members of this great community!
I sincerely appreciate everyone taking the time to participate and comment on the post!
Edit# 4:
Added this edit to highlight one of the most well-written comments (replies) within this post.
The comment is by MenkusKhan, from yesterday, December 9. It has been "bumped" several times, so it is not far from the top at this point.
The player's comment is thoughtful, well-written, and contains a number of valid reasons for the reinstatement of reforging. I can always quote it within an edit if anyone has trouble viewing it.
I sincerely appreciate MenkusKhan's time and effort he took to comment, as well as anyone else who took the time to comment, regardless of what your opinion is on this topic.
Edit #5:
So apparently someone illegally accessed my PSN account and sent an unauthorized mass message from my account with derogatory language in it.
It is disappointing and pathetic that someone would go to such effort considering this is a video game and people are just discussing a topic.
I apologize if any of you received such the message.

No. Weapon Diversity is key to the latest state of balance. Despite the Clever Dragon and Matador 64 (the first of which was a bad move to introduce) weapons have never been so balanced. im not saying this shouldnt happen though. I think seeing as the game is nearing its end of life it would be sweet to see some features brought back.
-
As long as it's more expensive than last time, I'm all for it. I feel like RNG giving you a useful gun is already a fight. Not to mention some people don't do go for the perks that everyone else wants. Everyone has a different version of a "God Roll." I always liked the reforging as it allowed me to get multiple guns I wanted for different purposes as long as I had the materials. I could have the PvE weapon I wanted and the PvP weapons I wanted without endless grinding with only hope.

5 RepliesI think iron banner weapons should be rerollable

Edited by TEEDER29: 12/10/2016 8:39:28 PMLol for those saying "reforging would kill weapon diversity." The game already has no diversity as it is let's be honest. Choices are luna, palindrome, clever dragon, matador, and party crasher that's it. The game is all about perks, we want "god roll" on our favorite guns. No reason they should make us grind for ridiculous hours to have a weapon we want drop but it has a terrible roll. Especially in crucible because the top weapons have a lower drop rate nobody wants an in times of need or ill will we want matador and luna. Increase the materials needed or whatever but reforging should be in the game because it gives the players some freedom. We get what we want to drop but don't have enough materials to reforge ok go run strikes or go do the daily or farm on patrol. Not oh I got a matador without any range perk but I have to keep playing pvp hours on end with this p2p lag to have a chance at another because that matador with no range will be obsolete to someone who has aggr ballistics and reinforced.

I would go for gun crafting. That way you would need to earn materials by completing missions. Not this crap material system we have now. I really like the Warframe way of gun crafting.
-
I just wish we could get a queens reputation booster boon like the vanguard, crucible and house of judgement ones. So I can choose which faction I want to rank up

24 RepliesEdited by TeslaDoc: 12/10/2016 5:51:04 AMReforging made Felwinter's Lie and some other weapons into God-Roll mega killers. When I think of a reforged Matador 64 I get queasy. You'd just hit the reforge button over and over until you got what you wanted. And the cost to do it was far too low. If they add it back in, reforging has to cost more or be more difficult (like do a quest or something).
-
Great idea, although many people will disagree that reforging would be OP, to make it balanced I would say to have there be a special material that you get from collecting planetary materials. This wouldn't be OP because it requires more gameplay to try and get a god roll
-
29 RepliesI can't convey how bad of an idea this would be
-
2 RepliesI don't want to see re-rolling be a thing again tbh. It took all of the excitement away from getting a god roll gun. As soon as you got a gun, you had it. With how boring and unexciting exotics are now, if reforging becomes a thing there will be nothing left to be excited over. Perhaps some quest based pain-staking process of combining multiple of the same guns together to create the roll you want..?
-
7 RepliesThe thing is although I agree their is 1 thing and it's pretty sad. That's these days perks matter more than a person's skill some noob with a godly sweatador and some pro with a godly metador could go in each others faces and the noob would win SIMPLY because he has something like full auto or rangefinder and the pro does not
Also I'd rather go back to HoW pvp sure it was thorn but AT LEAST it was primary and people sniped and shot gunned equally
-
Xur should do it for 20 strange coins. If it is too cheap then everyone will have the same weapons again like year 1.
-
Re rolling is a thing I don't like but I don't care if it comes back just not on every weapon it would make more sense to have re rolling to exclusive to the end game gear like raid, trials, iron banana, ect

Edited by warriorhealer: 12/10/2016 7:00:38 PMAm I the only person ever who just fires up a game and plays? If I don't like a game, I play a different one. I'm fairly certain there are more than a few games out now so no big deal to find another one. I find it takes away from the fun if I'm always looking for ways to make the 'perfect' game. Just my 2 cents! EDIT- that is not to say I wouldn't giggle with glee every time I cross mapped someone with a load of buckshot :D
-
2 RepliesHorrible idea..... rolling guns ruined year one. Basically had everyone running around with the exact same gun. No grind for different rolls, no one ever tried a different gun. They got the meta weapon and rolled it to OP oblivion. Horrid idea.
-
6 RepliesWhat I'm saying is that there should be weekly Gun Smith bounties, so we can get reforging pass as a reward. Hell, these reforging passes could be drops from the nightfall or from gunsmith rank ups, I feel like for people would be inclined to visit the gunsmith often! Who agrees? ~TheGreatNike
-
it wouldn't "Break" the game like some claim all the really great perks were nerfed or removed - it simply would not be as effective as it was
-
Yes there is nothing like grinding a strike for a year and finally get the weapon you want and it has a shit roll.
-
In this meta, might be just the thing we need.
-
I think it should, some people get all the lucky drops and others don't. Plus it would kill most of the moaning posts in this forum!! oh who am I kidding lol
-
I kinda disagree TBH, because I feel the grind is misplaced. IMO, the grind should be about getting that weapon in general, not for specific roles. Rerolling should be a thing, but only if the weapon becomes more of a grind to get. If there's not a huge grind to get the weapon, then rerolling isn't as necessary. But I haven't grinded for it so I'm unaware of how long it may take to recieve this gun. As long as you get a KD less than .5 and joined within a minute of the game ending, it shouldn't be too hard to get though.
-
5 RepliesI'd like to see it for a specific set of weapons. Not for everything. Nobody wants a full auto/rifled barrel/ range finder matador filled crucible. I was thinking maybe reroll IB weapons and a new set of weapons.
-
2 RepliesYou should just be able to turn in a weapon to the gunsmith for 2500 glimmer and on the next arms day you'll get 3 options like you would with the other gunsmith orders. The system is already in place.
-
1 ReplyWhat would a gunsmith event be like? Maybe it lasts for two weeks every other month where people could RE roll weapons that way it's not all the time?
-
2 RepliesEither that or buff the drop rates on legendaries in the crucible, my luck sucks more than an adult film actress
-
7 RepliesNo. one of the main endgame points like it or not is playing for good rolls. that means more time spent playing. if they put in reforging you could see how their pretty much shooting themselves in the foot. That's only one of the few annoying issues reforging would bring. Petition and poll all you want it ain't happening.
