Has there ever been a point in this game where warlocks have felt weak? Titans had a few moments like that with things like their melee, hunters have definitely had their weak points especially with the incessant nerfs towards Bladedancers, yet whenever I see warlocks or play my warlock there seems to be no downside to playing it.
High armour might seem desirable, but it doesn't really give all that much of an advantage in the grand scheme of things. High agility may help with those strafes every now and again and helps hunters get that little bit higher with their jumps. But high recovery, that's a whole other story. The difference between having low recovery and high recovery is quite ridiculous, even if I have max recovery on my Titan it doesn't seem to go near as fast as a warlock's recovery speed - I can damage a warlock and there health is back instantly. It's no surprise high recovery is usually banned in sweats.
Dat melee tho. Warlocks still have that ridiculous melee that doesn't rely on an actual collision, rather you get this huge surface area melee that never seems to miss or shortstop, unlike that of the Hunter and Titan variant. This is especially evident with the stormcaller melee which seems to hit from unimaginable ranges even when that warlock is barely looking at you.
Which brings me to stormcallers and their incredibly easy to use subclass. THERE IS NO DOWNSIDE TO USING IT. They essentially get their own fist of havoc, and don't worry you don't have to have that perk active just pick up The Impossible Machines because you don't even need to consider any other exotics for the stormcaller. And of course that gives you access to ionic blink which can be spammed in case you're in a panic during stormtrance. But why would you even be in a panic? This super has an incredible range with a fast time to kill, and can also chain to other players while doing so, making killing giant groups quicker than using a fist of havoc; even more so since no one can see with all the bloody lightning covering the screen. Even forgetting stormcallers, void walkers are probably the strongest subclass at the moment: warlock melee, great grenades, projectile Fist of Havoc, blink and crazy synergy between perks. Even the warlock jump is annoying in PvP. That initial burst gives them an insane amount of sudden speed and distance, and even if they don't use it for that quick getaway they just float above doorways for 30 seconds with their glide.
I may come off as particularly salty right now, maybe I am, who knows. But I know for sure I don't have fun playing against warlocks; it's simply tedious. Not saying hunters and titans don't have their powerful traits, I definitely want to see some sort of change to the juggernaut shield and maybe change the burn on the sunbreaker melee. But warlocks are still the crux of the problem for me; simply obnoxious players with the easiest abilities to execute.

Edited by Pete: 12/3/2016 6:16:13 PMThe only thing that needs a nerf is the stormcaller Melee perk amplitude, but besides that warlocks are fine in my opinion, sure Titan melee's suck but they do like 180 damage with a melee charge

37 Repliesthis could possibly be the dumbest thing i've read on the forums in a long time...

let me guess. you use juggernaut and shotgun charge warlocks using their supers?
-
1 ReplyYou're definitely a Titan. 'Nuff said. Titans own the crucible.

2 Repliesthey have terrible mobility and their grenades might be easy to use, but in general they aren't the best. they have the slowest melee, but the range is good. stormtrance is the only super with a time to kill. sunsingers are in a very bad spot unless you love fusion grenades. and voidwalkers can't panic super persons up close, cause of the damage the nova does. warlocks don't have an evade (blink isn't an evade). stormtrancers have a very good melee, but terrible grenades. voidwalker main.

1 ReplyTitans should learn to just keep their mouths shut. Titans have no room whatsoever to bitch about other classes especially with the OP jugg shield.
-
2 RepliesSunsinger Storm caller is average if you aren't shotgunning Nova is all around good, and it should stay like that
-
3 RepliesJuggernaut/Matador. How much easier do you need it to be?

1 ReplyAnother pvp rage post, another mute.

9 RepliesBeen playing Striker in Doubles and hating every second of every match against Axion Darts and double Skip Grenades. Blink Strike and any Warlock melee out perform the Titan melee when it comes to shotgun-melee or primary-melee. Obviously the Titan melee will out DPS any other melee, if you can get close enough. I will definitely say that in the ability-based meta (which this is), Titans are seriously lacking, while Warlocks have a significant advantage. Hunters have it pretty easy, too.

2 RepliesI guess people are back on the Warlock nerf bandwagon. Now its their melee. I guess its the flavour of the month. One person starts it, then suddenly every useless player and his dog is getting in on the action. Learn to counter things better. Everything has a counter to it. You just need to have some better awareness whilst playing. If you lose a fight, learn from it and go into the next one better prepared. Every class and subclass has strengths and weaknesses. Learn them.

Edited by IIIIIIIIIIIIIII-: 11/28/2016 11:17:22 PMMy view: I play all three classes without supers. That makes me focus on weapons and grenades/melee abilities. By efficiency, warlock's melee is on a par with hunter's little hands melee + throwing knifes, and titan's shoulder charge + not quite exciting melee performance.

Just made a warlock after a year of playing with a hunter and titan. I've found the titan to be the most fun. But I was better with my hunter. And I have to say, other than their greandes, the storm caller is pretty ridiculous. The super and melee with the perks more than make up for it. The only thing I find on titan to actually maybe need some tuning down now is juggernaut. But in its current state, it's needed to keep up with other classes. Which is kind of crazy to say. Because if you look at the strikers abikities and perks, they're pretty awesome. Lightning grenade, one of the best in the game. Overload melee, can ohk, rarely, but can. Foh, the perfect super shuterdown. Juggernaut, and shoulder charge, fun and great for mobility. High armor and speed. Great jump. Yet they don't seem to work together in a great mathematical formula like the other classes do. I think titan is the hardest Class to use. Not because it's hard to use the abilities. They're actually probably some of the easiest to use. And they can be very effective. So why does it stink sometimes.... the 1v1. The 1v1 is what controls the game. Hunters and warlocks both constantly use greandes that force you to run from battle. Breaking up the team. While lightning grenades only really keep you together. These tracking grenades actually are the most effective grenades to use for many reasons. Both are able to increase tracking and get 2 of them. In this close game and fast paced meta, that's a huge advatage in trials. Do you ever hear from your teamates, Omg run he's a juggernaut? Not really. The only time I get beat in an even match up with a Titan is if they are extremely good. And that skill is not because of the way they use the class usually. But just their basic skills. They are easy to use and strong, but at the same time, they are very limiting with their situational usage. That's why titans I believe are the hardest to win with. I won't argue warlocks vs hunters because it comes down to subclass and perks. If you think back, how often do you get beat by a Titan and say, wow that was an impressive use of whatever. Or even that was kind of cheap feeling. I don't know. Maybe I don't make sense.

2 Repliesno need to elaborate... this is a post just whining about warlocks... yes i main a warlock but i play all the classes pretty regularly i'm not going to pick apart you're entire post. i won't say that warlocks are underpowered... i think they are in a really good spot right now. But no downside to using them? i dunno if i agree with that. Radiance and stormcaller are really easy to shut down. Radiance can be killed before they have a chance to do much of anything and stormcaller just takes a bit of awareness to get rid of. our grenades are good... except firebolt oh and all the stormcaller grenades the jump? really? insane amount of speed? really? warlock surfing is pretty quick but it's nothing to be complaining about. hang above the door for 30 seconds? really? melee is well... you know the melee... anyone who says the melee doesn't need work is full of it... but the range isn't the problem... its the area of effect. but the stormcaller really only has that melee in the neutral game. imo. Voidwalker... now the voidwalker is in my opinion the best class in the game right now. great melee, axion bolt, a shut down super that can hit from range and they have all kinds of ways to regen life. do i think they are easy to use? maybe? i guess if you're good with that class... but are they inherently easier to play than other classes? i don't think so... like i said this is a whiny post... the entirety of this is over exaggeration...
