We didnt ask how it worked. We asked you to remove SBMM (I don't want it removed, just adjusted. Solution in thread. )

There are a lot of misconceptions fabricated by those who don't understand SBMM and what I want done with it to help with lag.
Top 1% suffers the most due to low population and distance
Top 25% get introduced into more higher skilled lobbies especially with a poor connection. Some could say that this is fine so that there is room for improvement. But it should be balanced.
Top 50% have relatively smooth match making. Only if you have a good connection.
If you have a bad connection you still have a good chance at getting into laggy matches with higher skilled team mates and enemies.
Lower skilled players don't really complain about SBMM but again connection is a major factor in the outcome of the MM settings so I seldom see complaints.
A great solution would be.
To remove the algorithms that expand connection requirements and skill requirements. And introduce a GEO FILTER so that you will not connect to people outside of an area in your country or your country as a whole.
This suggestion will create an improved MM system. Longer times in orbit maybe. But we dealt with it in Y1. We can deal with it again. It depends on if you're comfortable with it.
Also if the community wants something and they realize it was a mistake. Then the developers should be able to recognize that it isn't fully working as intended and it needs a fix.

Why remove it? If your reasons are because you want to play noobs. Well then, move along. The reasoning has 0 weight to it. SBMM is here to stay. If you don't like it well hey there's other games for you to play.

Before people complained about Thorns, people were complaining about weasels, beaver, and ant-eaters. [spoiler]Oh, My![/spoiler] SBMM, TTK, RoI, none of these initials are responsible for the awful connectivity issues Destiny has. The only initials worthy of that blame are P2P. People act like the problems facing crucible play are new. That couldn't be farther from the truth.

Honestly, I wanted to know what the matchmaking process was. I wanted them to state, in full, what was happening step-by-step. I got a simplified version of it, but now I understand it somewhat. Skill-based matchmaking needs to be in this game. However, the matchmaking overall is the problem. I think connection quality is not prioritized as much as they said it was, because there's no way I get a sweaty player with a red bar from Europe when I'm in Southern Ontario (right by New York. Like, for real, they're right across from me). Are you telling me that there's nobody in my skill pool with a good connection, or, at the very least, somebody with a good connection regardless of skill, in Southern Ontario/Northern New York? I highly doubt that. My issue is not with skill-based matchmaking at all. In fact, I'm somewhat glad of it. I just think it needs to be more lenient overall and allow for better quality matches. Or Destiny should just make it disadvantageous to have a red bar. I've seen far too many teleporting red bar players topping the leaderboard because they're almost invincible.

1 ReplyThey remove it than you sit in orbit for 5 min. Then you tell them to fix it or remove something else that do and you still don't like it. It is a never ending story with complainers. Just play and except what it is at this point or don't play at all. Move on to something else.

4 RepliesI'm ok with SBMM 🙈 But playing with red bar gods 🙅♂️ Introduce 2 diff match-making in the algorithms: 1. Normal matchmaking (Priorities connection regardless of skill based) 2. Ranked matchmaking (Priorities skill level) Introduce Low Priority matchmaking for leavers (those who hold "triangle" and exit to orbit or pulled plugged) This probably can make Crucible great again.
