As title states.
Edit:
There are a lot of misconceptions fabricated by those who don't understand SBMM and what I want done with it to help with lag.
Top 1% suffers the most due to low population and distance
Top 25% get introduced into more higher skilled lobbies especially with a poor connection. Some could say that this is fine so that there is room for improvement. But it should be balanced.
Top 50% have relatively smooth match making. Only if you have a good connection.
If you have a bad connection you still have a good chance at getting into laggy matches with higher skilled team mates and enemies.
Lower skilled players don't really complain about SBMM but again connection is a major factor in the outcome of the MM settings so I seldom see complaints.
A great solution would be.
To remove the algorithms that expand connection requirements and skill requirements. And introduce a GEO FILTER so that you will not connect to people outside of an area in your country or your country as a whole.
This suggestion will create an improved MM system. Longer times in orbit maybe. But we dealt with it in Y1. We can deal with it again. It depends on if you're comfortable with it.
Also if the community wants something and they realize it was a mistake. Then the developers should be able to recognize that it isn't fully working as intended and it needs a fix.

Edited by ManeVeezy31: 11/24/2016 3:29:45 AMNot sure what to think but sbmm not much of a problem for me I'll do good almost every match unless I get matched with the 1 percentage which happens quite a bit

2 RepliesHEAR me out, Go look at my stats, (My Hunter and Warlock stats, my titan is new) Thats mostly from the new Sbmm Some will say im garbo Some will say damn thats good But the joke behind it is, I slide Shotgun with max agility. Sbmm isn't a crime but is it annoying? Hell yea Now I'm not complaining when im sliding at people that suck on their sniper scopes but i complain when those same dudes Tracer me to death (Overwatch reference) Just find your own play style and get use to the sweat train YOU ONLY HAVE YOURSELF TO BLAME WHEN YOU GO 25 AND 3 IN 7 GAMES THEN COMPLAIN WHY ARE YOU FACING SWEATS

1 ReplyYup you sure did. I'm glad you have a decent memory. Good for you bud.
There was actually a pretty big post that got plenty of likes asking exactly how SBMM works. And either way, if Bungie wasn't planning on removing it, then they needed to at least let us know how it works instead of just saying no and moving on leaving us in the dark. They let us know how SBMM works so that we could see their side of the situation and why they want to keep it rather than just going, "no, we're not removing it, now -blam!- off"
34 RepliesYOU want SBMM removed, I do not. In fact yesterday showed to me how much SBMM is important to me. I was playing a bit on my own scoring okay, not winning many matches but I was having fun. Then a friend of mine hoped online and I joined him. My friend is a much better player than I am, which I knew going in to his game. I planned on hanging back playing conservative helping out others with team shooting. What happened is that I got wrecked continually. When I found an opponent they either easily evaded me or defeated me in 2 seconds. I could contribute nothing to my team. So I backed out, told my friend that I would stay in the chat party and talk but I was not going to play in his lobbies. He understood and decided just to quit playing since no one else was around. I went back to playing solo eventually linking up with another friend that plays at my level and had a good time. If we ever lose SBMM and go back to what I experienced year one, which was just like when I was playing with my more skill friend, I would quit playing PVP at all. I am not saying I am more important than those of you that are more skilled and are having connection problems, just that there are those of us that like SBMM and it is important to us. BTW the connections the the higher skilled lobbies and the lower skilled lobbies were next to perfect.

I honestly have no problem at all with how it is right now. I'm pretty decent at PvP and go up against good players all the time but I'm still normally at the top of the board every match. I only see red bars on average every 4-5 matches and as I've said before they were most likely in a fireteam.

4 RepliesEdited by lYlasterBlazor1: 11/23/2016 9:21:01 PMI believe in a world where I can connect with Habeeb. In a world with no firewalls. A world with no borders and everyone has a 2.0 kd. Habeeb is just a person like you or me. If you cut Habeeb does he not bleed? Does Habeeb not cry during the movie "field of dreams"? Habeeb matters.

From where you got those statistics??

1 Reply1. (On average) Top 25% player here. I really don't have much in the way of problems with lag. Yes I see the occasional teleporting player. The odd player who won't take damage...and get shot through a wall about once per game. But that's EVERYONE's experience playing this game, because of the P2P networking. What I see are mainly VERY good players. Lots of Trials emblems. Lots of trials armor and weapons. I don't have a problem with that. I'm good enough to still keep a positive K/D...and I get the competitive matches I want. I think what Bungie needs to do is take out that last step where they start to compromise connection quality for those players in the top 5% of whatever ranking system they use. Instead, just keep broadening the range of acceptable matches (keep loosening SBMM) until a match is finally made. MM times will take longer, you'll have more matches that are blowouts. But it would go a long way to solving the lag problems. The "sweaty match problem"? I really don't give a shit.

9 RepliesI'm going to laugh my head off when you guys finally get Bungie to remove SBMM, and the results are not to your liking. You'll find out you're not as good at this game as you think, and Bungie's been protecting you from severe and repeated humiliation in the Crucible. Since I'm not stupid enough to believe I'm a good PvP player, once SBMM goes down, I'll avoid the Crucible the way I would a pile of old dynamite sticks covered with sweated nitroclycerine crystals.

Remove sbmm
-
SBMM isn't a thing anymore now that we have even more no-skill weapons that everyone can get *cough* Clever Dragon *cough*
-
They have a geo filter. It's called bungie is oblivious and never listens so go buy a NetDuma.
-
4 RepliesWhy don't you like Habeeb? I talked to Habeeb & he said he likes you a lot. He would miss you if you weren't in his lobby.
-
They wanted to point out that cbmm is used but not as much as sbmm
-
3 RepliesSbmm would be fine if Bungie/Activision weren't cheap and had dedicated servers. No one can argue that.
-
6 RepliesYou know what I love doing? Making up stats and percentages for fun without any evidence to back it up. Good times
-
1 ReplyThe problem is that it's all relative. It's P2P and not dedicated servers, so your connection to the match as a whole depends on everyone's distance to every single player, and not their distance to a server.
-
5 RepliesHow do I tell which category of skill I fall into? (Ex. The top 1%, top 25% and top 50%)

what a tanty

Players have complained about long match making times before. That's why Bungie expanded the groups in sbmm (which created a greater skill range in matches) and made it so the sbmm and cbmm parts of match making are relaxed further if it takes too long Bungie also made it so matches will start with incomplete teams to shorten matchmaking times after player complaints about long times in orbit
-
3 RepliesOkay that's it. IF YOU ARE GONNA -blam!-ING BITCH THEN JUST LEAVE!!!!

First, Bungie would have to admit (after a year and a half of denial) that SBMM protocols are the reason for lag on our end. Then, they would have to establish regional (or ping) restrictions and an entirely new matchmaking system for a game with less than a year left in its life cycle. The best you can do is just accept this game for the shithole that it's become and patiently wait for D2 or you can grab a new game (I'm giving BF1 a chance this weekend) and treat D2 with all of the caution that it deserves.

2 RepliesEdited by GrayWulf25: 11/23/2016 8:05:02 PMWith no knowledge of the specific details of Bungie's match-making algorithm you have defined your own arbitrary categories and come to your own conclusions Also, you have more bizzare ideas. About punctuation GrayWulf25 applauds...slowly

1 ReplyNo one cares, please stop posting about it. If they haven't removed it by now it's there to stay. Deal with it. Also, 50% is not the majority.
