I'm looking to practice with sidearms, but really suck with them. Any tips? Desirable perks? Any help would be appreciated.

Never put yourself in shotgun range, don't get too close to doorways, and try to bait the shotgun rushers. If you got a bite then backpedal a bit to get out of range and blast away my friend. Rushing with sidearms is a little harder but it can surprise someone who has a primary out. Usually I can get someone who switches to a shotty before they even pull it out. Also don't sleep on the icarus perk. It's very underrated. It can help you get the first shots off accurately. HC rounds are also great, shakes your target's screen pretty good.

Edited by ZiPpEr: 11/18/2016 10:27:17 AMTry starting with the Wormwood from FWC. It's amazing. And try to keep a decent distance from other players, aim mostly for upper body when shooting. Sidearms are really good when jumping as well, so use jumps to your advantage, especially on a hunter. Try your best not to get in bad close quarters situations. Shotguns will murder you if you just run around corners. Be patient. If someone is hiding with a shotty, bait them, try to get them to come to you. A rushing shotty is an easy kill. And overall, have fun, Sidearms are insanely fun to use (for me anyway). Good luck! Edit: Also, look up JMP on YouTube, he uses sidearms a lot, and just watch how he plays, it can help a lot!

I like the sidearm. It works best for rushing shotguns, but you still have to watch your corners or getting yourself in tight spots. A shotgun will always win in close quarters. It is a good secondary to keep players pushed back. I use the trespasser.

I have the best luck when I hip fire them. Not sure why but it just feels better

Edited by NikonFiend: 11/18/2016 2:33:01 PMAlright, this is what I've got so far: Bait people into rushing and then jump/backpedal Try a Wormwood Use them in the air See whether I prefer range or stability and maximize it Perks that trigger with reloads might be useful Oh, and check out this JMP character in youtube EDIT: Could I also get some opinions on the Blinding Blaze my 399 hunter has equipped?

1 ReplyEdited by Rastian05: 11/18/2016 6:06:43 AMUnfortunately I do not have much experience with sidearms. I have only used them a little bit and had some good and bad luck with them. I would also like to hear from others so here is a bump. I hear range perks are the way to go for the most part. I also seen some good praise for the wormwood side arm. What I would like to know is if anyone has gotten a good roll Crow's Eye sidearm with Accurized ballistics and how well it preforms. I was looking at the TtK (Time to Kill) spreadsheet, and that weapon's TtK is pretty crazy on paper. The same thing goes for the raid sidearm ZEAL VECTOR with Accurized ballistics it puts the TtK of just body shots our par with all critical hits with any other sidearm. Though I wonder if they may be harder to control? TLDR: on paper the Crow's Eye and ZEAL VECTOR look amazing. Wondering if anyone has used either of them and what they think of them

Go for range or stability, whatever you prefer, and try to grab high caliber rounds. If you're fast moving, reactive reload can be a monster. Be airborne in as many engagements as possible, aim for the head (sidearms have great crit bonuses), and stay between shotgun and fusion range. That's where you're most effective. If being rushed, jump backwards and spam shots to gun them down fast. Even though you respawn with a mag and a half, still grab those special boxes. They help out a lot. And grind for a Wormwood. It's sooooo worth it. Mine has Zen Moment, High Caliber Rounds, and Reactive Reload
