Microtransaction are Great for Destiny! [Sarcasm Off]

Bungie needs to fix Festival of the Lost. And feels really like Bungie wants Destiny 1 to die a slow death.
This micro-transaction bullshit is outrageous. The worst thing I seen you guys do. And you have done some Basic shit in the past.
There should be other ways to get the Treasure stuff, not just buying the Treasure boxes. Even in Warframe, you can get mostly everything you want using in-game, not purchasing. Bungie completely ignores other micro-transaction systems, and decided to bar people completely from getting stuff, other than 3 free chances per account.
The Treasure bags should drop Legendary masks from last year at least. They went too far, because now people that spend $$$ are getting Ghosts with high stat rolls from treasure boxes.
And what some are spending money on are these Ghosts, and they are damn rare and look freaking cute. You literally just went and made it so people with $$$ can buy a bunch of stuff to improve their stat rolls. This is not even the main issue with Festival of the Cost. The problem is lack of new content.
The entire event is locked behind the paywall or the cool stuff in it. At least with Crimson doubles, we got the ghost for free.
Even my name is BYF is saying it, and he is usually #1 Bungie defender.
Literally no content in this update other than something that feels like work.
The broom is cool, but you guys need to add more content. Not just reskin shit.
Same thing happened last year before Call of Duty came out. You are basically forcing people to stop playing when Activision releases their next game. Are you going to introduce SBBM back so that Crucible sucks too, or some other thing that lowers drop rates on loot to put the Nail in the Coffin that is Destiny?

Bottom line Bungie. If you are listening. I know you bury my posts since I spam a lot, and troll. But anyways I still have legitimate opinions. The bottom line is: you should add other ways to get Treasures you want, through grinding or doing Crucible.
Why not let masks drop as rewards from Crucible? Yea make it rare, but at least its a fair trade. At this point you cannot fix it, but at least drop Legendary masks for us.

Look at the article from Ign: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/10/31/destiny-devs-talk-space-travel-pc-and-microtransactions - back from 2013. URK said they wouldn't nickel and dime us. But that's exactly how I feel with this Festival of the Lost Event. Almost the entire event is locked behind RNG Paywall. Why are you doing this Bungie?

1 ReplyMicrotransactions have done nothing at all for Destiny beside put money in Bungie and Activision's pockets.. I have yet to see a free DLC come out since Microtransactions hit the game. And the free "Live" updates are a complete joke, where you NEED to buy silver for most of the items.. Look at GTA Online for example.. They've had Microtransactions in the game since launch.. But they also add brand new big DLCs every month.. I really believe this is Activision stepping in and ruining the game more than Bungie.

Now to the REAL problem with Festival of the lost. The problem is there is nothing to grind for with the candy bags. You get either or Punkin head or Flight of shadows consumables. Why are the new best consumables locked behind a paywall? Even though most people knew the blue masks were temporary they were still fun to grind and wear until the event ended. There is simply no goal in the Festival. If want something new you have to pay because once the quests are over there is nothing to do.

You're absolutely wrong about the ghosts though. They only drop at a 3 light level and with no stats. They then take on the int/dis/str of the first ghost infused into them. [/quote] There's a very small dev team working on live events (Festival, SRL, etc). The rest are on to Destiny 2, which is heavily rumored to be out next year. So they ARE working on everything mentioned above. Just not for this game. And, that's fine. There's only so much that can be done at this point since Destiny was tethered and restricted by support for 360/PS3, so I'm all on board with devs making marginal updates here for the future. As far as console games go, few have been supported and remained as relevant as long as this.

13 RepliesHere's the thing when it comes Eververse/Microtranactions, there will always be a group of people in this community that will defend this shady system no matter how bad it gets. Every time Bungie cranks it up a notch, people will continue deflect or outright deny how bad these practices are. I'm sure some people will even defend the idea that selling actual weapons or engrams would be okay. (Which hopefully it would be a "red line" for the community if it ever happens) They will say "you don't have to buy that gun", or "it's not P2W" when it clearly could be P2W. I see what's going on when it comes to COD, and tell myself "We're next". I'm sure Activision is salivating at the idea of selling weapons or engrams. They are waiting for US to be cool with it. While I agree with the idea of "voting with your wallet" and boycott micro transactions, we need to continue to be vocal about this. Otherwise, Activision/Bungie will assume that's everyone is cool with it and they will do what they want to do.

It's all cosmetic crap, no reason you needed to buy anything.. but your own addictive personality caused you to blow a bunch money. And for what? To be a special snowflake for two weeks? You want to compare it to casinos and gambling like it's a real issue.. it's like carnival games, those stupid egg machines for a quarter and anything else with a random prize.. real gambling doesn't tend to give you a reward everytime you place a bet.. 2 RepliesMy opinion is that they should have a grind pathway and a purchase pathway. A grind pathway would be like either - Do Three Strikes - Earn 35 crucible kills - Prison of elders This way players can get a treasure of the lost after a segment of grinding and still have the same chance as the people who are willing to skip over the grind and pay. I have no idea why they they didn't do this. The drop rate seems optimal for this as it would be low and very rewarding to get. I understand they need money but don't cut us off for an entire event when we get all the freebies.

The economy in that is probably one of the absolute best things it has to offer, because buying things with the premium currency is either cosmetic or purely a shortcut for the grind - AND you can get the premium currency completely free by grinding and trading. Bungie needs to take serious lessons from that. And warframe has a stable economy and runs at a constant profit with consistent free updates that are pretty big. It has problems but f**k me did it get over Destiny's problems years and yonks ago

In the early days I didn't mind Eververse, I even defended it on occasion. It was never cheap, a simple emote even made Horse Armour look like a bargain, but it didn't affect the game in a material way, just a cosmetic one. You could buy what you liked or ignore it all. No harm done. It's the Festival of the Lost approach that's pushed it over the edge for me. In particular including things like the Ghost's, Wolf Mask and Sparrow (yucky though it is) in an overpriced RNG box that we can only get for 2 weeks. You can't just buy these directly, and there are a couple I would, instead you have to keep buying (real money) packages and hoping... I'm sure that's also known as gambling. Not good! Sure we get a couple free but I've now opened EIGHT, three each on X1 and PS4 plus a couple more from spare Silver I had, and I've not had any of the "nice" gear (I did get 3 engram masks, yay!) so I'm guessing the drop rate is pretty low too. So yeah I'm a little salty I got nowt but I'm also concerned Bungie are going to continue hiding neat content behind their ever growing paywall and turning all us all into real life gamblers and not just digital ones.

4 RepliesThis 'gambling' shit with real money for items with terrible odds is reprehensible. There's a reason why gambling is as regulated as it is. People have real problems with it, and it cheapens a company like Bungie (and Blizzard if we're being honest, but at least they credit you somewhat for duplicates). I'm not advocating a nanny state, but leave that kind of slime out of games until you rate it M. I'm surprised Sony and Microsoft allow it.

1 ReplyIts underage gambling. Simple as that. The chances of getting what you want are WAY TOO LOW. The only players spending tons on microtransactions like this are the ones who only play destiny. Like I am going to spend $100 just to get the items I want from an RNG pit of hell that doesn't even assist you with bad luck. I play Smite and they have this system in chests. However, guess what? I don't have to worry about duplicates and my chances increase slightly each time I purchase an item out of the chest.
