What's a sniper?
I hate it how Bungie changes 2 things on snipers ( OP flinch,which honestly isn't that bad,and the damage reduction to the 1000 Yard,Longbow,LDR etc..) and it makes people just use shotguns! Like really? Don't get me wrong I don't mind getting shotgunned from time to time,but only getting rushed by a shotgun every 2 seconds get kind of annoying.
I don't know what Bungie should do about snipers,maybe change them back to how they were in year 1 or 2?
Just my opinion though. (I don't mind if you hate on me,just don't think of getting a response from me)

I don't mind, it puts a wall between the ACTUAL snipers, and the meta snipers.

People are prone to kneejerk reactions. Remember when shotguns first got nerfed? They were still VERY good, but suddenly TONS of people started using snipers because they refuse to test things out for themselves and prefer to jump on a bandwagon with other whiners..

I run queen breaker bow now and now I understand why people hate shotguns so much. If u use shotties u don't even realize how annoying it is. All u see is shotguns, that's it... it's ridiculous. Rushing shotgunners > campy snipers It took me a while to get it because i used to be the campy douch with a snipers.. crucible now is way more fun & healthy

It's more because most of this dlc is based around shotguns, supremacy is far easier to play with a shotgun, Archon's forge is easy with a shotgun, even parts of the raid a shotgun can be helpful

Its just like the end of year 1 going into 2 when kids complained about getting rekt by snipes (mainly the icebreaker) so bungie made the meta super shotgun friendly. Now its worse bc theirs guns like the matador that are crazy op, as much as i hate thag phrase. And it wont get any better bc MLG is embrasing the whole hand cannon/shotty combo strat. I blame the 12 year old newfags thag say nerf everything that takes skill, all butthurt that they cant actually aim and cant pay for skill like they pay for a trials flawless.. get good.

I don't get why they changed the scopes when all maps are super small. It just made camping worse and they nerfed that now with horrible flinch.

I've used a sniper a lot recently and the changes were for the best. I don't know why people want to use a sniper in 6v6 anyway.

19 RepliesSniping was really prevalent because Destinys main mode was trials, which is a elimination based mode. Elmination=passive. Because of that everyone noticed snipers a lot more and cried about them. Bungie listened to the complainers for some unkown reason and nerfed snipers as a result. They were actually balanced with shotguns before the most recent nerf (except for the ammo economy, as shotguns got more and are easier to use), but now they're not.

Sniper flinch is rough. Honestly, the people were given their matador back, I wonder what would happen if Bungie just reverted the sniper nerfs? Would people switch back? People tend to just all flock to one thing when another is "nerfed." Like high rate of fire auto rifles. Those still shred, yet no one uses them because they were "nerfed." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Bladedancer is still beastly despite several nerfs... People just see a nerf and then immediately think it sucks then. That's why the sniping plague has turned into the shotgun plague. Sooner or later shotguns will have a 5% range reduction or something and people will go to fusions or snipers again, even though shottys will still be good. Most of the time nerfs are made just to break the meta and change things up. It sucks sometimes. (All the time.) But in the end, snipers are still really good. All that. [spoiler]I don't wanna type anymore.[/spoiler] Edit: For the people saying Thorn sucks... Go do some damage tests. Go see how many shots it takes to kill something, or how much damage each shot does in PvP. I can guarantee you will see that Thorn is in a better spot than any other handcannon, excepting maybe the last word or something on par with that. You can't exactly argue with the hard facts...

3 RepliesYou wana know how to piss shotgunners of? Switch to a god roll party crasher and lay waste to them. Used nothing but snipers since I started playing and recently switched to a shotgun. I'm actually not bad with it either I just prefer to use a sniper. But when I use shotguns I normally get more kill with them than I do with snipers on regular bases. I want sniper damage with 1hk abillity on super head shots. I just don't like the way the others put out damage. The weaker ones feel to weak and the high impact ones feel to slow. 1000y and Ldr/longbow are't completely ruined, but their bad enough to make me change my playstyle completely.

IMO there was a nice balance in slow and fast paced action before the nerf, but now it's all shotguns, all the time, every game.

using a sniper is still easy enough if you got the right one and (imo) the real problem isn't that people prefer shotguns as their special but the fact that they use it like a primary.

Oh my God are you high? Snipers are inherently broken because of the body shot damage, you want to buff them? The only way to fix the current shotgun meta is to entirely remove the Party Crasher/Matador class all together. Those will ((always)) be better than the other shotgun archetypes. Fusions are the most balanced right now.

I still use Snipers. Just use the ones nobody ever did.

2 RepliesLook. I think we should change the range to 2500 yards and have a player perk any gun you have can have any perk you have owned. Max of 12 perks per gun. Have a dropdown menu for perk selection attached to each gun view in the current format.
