A few tips to improve your DPS at Aksis
Im in no way saying that Im the best at DPS. That being said, in EVERY group I join, I always double everyone elses damage. I have 4-5 million damage every run. Thats half of Aksis' total health. Everyone is capable of doing what I do. Its not that Im so good at what I do... its that everyone else is just not doing all the right actions at the right time.
Gear used:
>ex machina from the raid
>dark drinker
>sniper reload gauntlets
Every LFG group always says "drop the cannons in the middle for phase 3". Thats the first thing being done wrong. When Aksis is waiting to be stunned, he cannot be critted easily. This means sleeper/snipers are almost useless. The cannon, however, can be used for 100% damage. I can usually get off 2 or 3 cannon shots (130-200k damage) while anyone not using a cannon does 0 damage during this time.
After Aksis can be critted, I drop the cannon and start firing sleeper shots at him until he teleports again. While he is teleporting, i pick the cannon up to fire another 3 shots into him before his head is showing. And repeat. By the end phase, I always have all my ammo burned except for my sniper. I finish off by firing sniper shots at him until its time to stand on the pillar.
A few additional things to note:
You can fire cannon shots at aksis as you move from one side to the next to cover empowerment
Dark drinker is more dps than sleeper but it isnt always worth having to move across the map to damage him. You lose precious damage time

5 RepliesAlso, I have an LDR with the following perks, would this be better than an event horizon? Triple tap Casket mag (5 shots total) Spray and play I also have sniper reload gauntlets. I can fire 7 shots without reloading, then I get a fast reload.

I agree with you but definitely use dark drinker with 2 people if possible. It does massive damage. And I ALWAYS damage with the scorch cannon at all teleport phases it doesn't make sense to drop it in the middle at all it wastes dps time. I unload my dark drinker though now so I don't use the cannon now I let someone else. But did the raid with a group I got off the forums. We had not one wipe the entire raid, we beat aksis phase 2 in three sequences. 2 of us used dark drinker and we literally wrecked aksis. As long as you have a group that thinks like what you said plus use dark drinkers, you will destroy aksis piece of cake.

Key #1 (only key needed) - discharge your empowerment for the supercharge! You can have tether every round, WoL every round, nova bombs celestial nighthawk GGs, etc etc. allows for WAY more DPS

You can hit him with regular guns while waiting for slam. You can still hit critical shots while waiting for the slam (he still has a head, it's just drooping, this depends where you are) People not using their cannon is annoying. People shooting instead of slamming their plates is annoying. Getting squashed on the ceiling is funny, but annoying.

3 RepliesUnless ur team is bad, you should be tethering on each teleport just to maximise damage. The two who aren't stunning him should discharge empowerment to gain tethers again....3 highest light on ur team should be using cannons. Just smash him with the biggest stick you got. Problem comes when u get the raid noob who doesn't charge canon shots.... he just spams all 3 cannons and does no damage

3 RepliesI hit 2.8 million damage yesterday while the rest of my team was in the million range and some even less than one million. I thought that was a lot lol. My strategy for damage is to hit Aksis with sleeper the first two phases and, if that rand out of ammo, switch to event horizon and slam him with that. For the third phase, Id run to middle, grab a cannon and keep charging it. The thing is, we had about three warlocks all using the Viking funeral grenade buff, so a fully charged cannon with weapons, thether, and three grenades did about 144k damage. I consistently landed in the top three for damage

Another thing: sun singers that are present should put on Viking funeral and ignite. It increases damage taken while the target is burning. Fusion grenade too. Close to a gally shot without wasting that sleeper dps. Combined with THoPF you can give aksis a moving mini tether!

Also, does the additional fallen damage on Devil's Dawn make it worth using? I usually run OP, Quantiplasm (for captains) and Sound/Fury or whatever the RL is. Before that I used Keystone 01/Raid SR/AR, Devil's Dawn and Raze Lighter or Sleeper. I wanna experiment with more things but with the HM coming out I doubt i'll have time.

1 ReplyI average 4-5 mill with a weak group every time as well. I start off by firing all my cannon shots on him. I usually stick him and hold for 2-3 seconds before actually letting it blow. Pop my weapons half way through 2nd teleport and it should be there for remainder of damages phases. Once im out of cannon shots, snipers, gallies, and primaries. However, with my actual group, we balance pretty well that neither of us really go over 3 mill before he dies.
