I just turned 56, but that’s no excuse for the way I play.. (Although I’ve been known to blame it on that occasionally).
I’m SO bad..
When I go see the Speaker, there’s Uncomfortable Silence.
Amanda only has sparrows with training wheels. But she did promise I could solo my Cessna 150.
Rahool just gave me a new helmet, “The Dunce Cap” It’s got zero stats. And don’t get me started on my new hand cannon it’s got a GOD awful ROLL.
When I went down to face Crota, Eris mourned.
My ghost only says one line, “I got a bad feeling about this.”
I went to the “Sky Watch” and missed every public event. I was too busy looking up.
My jumping puzzles are named “Off the Edge”.
I came across a Dreg in the Cosmodrome and he said, “YOU and ME 1V1!”
Cayde said, “I need to get out of this tower… you need to stay.”
I’ve never gotten hate mail in the crucible. Just condolence cards.
.. But when I load up, join my awesome team, play with my wife or just run a patrol by myself; I feel young again and have as much fun as I did dropping quarters in PONG!
:)
***********EDIT**********
Thanks everyone for the empathy, sympathy, condolences and get gud scrub!
I was in the tower earlier and heard something about Zavala’s Crochet Class. I was excited; he said to Try Hard and I might get accepted for spring semester.
Mrs. Levante presented me with an exclusive shader, “Yellow-belly” it clashes with my Dunce Cap, tho. I asked her if she was getting a bigger box of crayons soon. I can’t repeat her answer here. (Ninja's and all).
I went to pledge Dead Orbit. Mr. Jalaal said, “No Thanks.”

When I faced Oryx, the Deathsingers cried

On the bright side; you got a firsthand account as to what happened during the Collapse seeing as you were there and all.

I'm turning 30 soon and seeing guys in their 50s, 60s, and 70s playing Destiny lessened the getting old blues. Kudos to you.

ha! Very funny old man ;)

1 ReplyBeing only 60yo makes me not quite old enough to join the League of Extraordinarily Olde Gentlemen. One day I hope to meet their strict membership requirements: 1. must have 0.01 K/D 2. must be able to identify a "quarter" and actually know how to insert into Pong 3. must have absolutely no idea what Trials ELEEIO (?) is...Electric Light Orchestra maybe? 4. must spend more time trying to get sparrow started than actually playing game 5. must still have Y1 weapons in Vault, saving Vex/Fatebringer/VoC for a rainy day Someday....

4 RepliesNo one cares for your brand of humor. It's pretty obvious by the lack of comments.

This is awesome made my day lol

Edited by Jeffyvette: 10/18/2016 4:12:18 AM56 and loving the game. Just as you say a little slower. In ToO my strategy is rush in die, then tell teammates where the enemy is. That works sort of.

I'm 92 years old, sonny. I used to play on XB1, but recently switched to PS4. I am 385 on all three characters. I play Destiny to keep my mind young. I wish I could do the same for my Johnson. Lol.

1 ReplyDo you have to load your weapons after each shot with a ball, powder and a raming rod? Nice post you cracked me up.

I'm 14 but I wish you were my grandpa. P.S. No hate to my grandpa btw... love you papaw lol

As cliche as it sounds, age does make a difference when it comes to reaction speeds and predicting your enemy in the crucible. I'm an old fart at 35, at least old in the context of playing the game with younger gamers from time to time. That doesn't mean age isn't something you can't compensate for with things like patience and experience in fps pvp, but it is a factor. All we can do is try to find other ways to remain competitive and helpful when our speed can't compare to a kid in his/her teens.

I am 51 and love this game. I play with my son and some of his friend's who are in their 20's. They are so fast I have a hard time keeping up lol. I don't mind the old man jokes lots of laughs lol. OP Love your post made me laugh thank you.

49 : I have just been flawless twice this weekend, bring on the hard raid

Edited by Reubenatrix: 10/18/2016 1:16:02 AMMy game has only improved with age. But I do play differently now. I wait for others in strikes, revive them as a priority, and don't take kills/achievement away from my fellow guardians.

Lol these are funny

Amazing post. Great seeing us 40+ year old gamers out there. We were there in the beginning and we are still getting it done now. Every now and then I will join a crucible game against my son and his friends. Love listen to them crack old man jokes and then say nothing when the results screen comes up.

5 RepliesI'm 15 and I am a god at this game

2 Replies53 here and I have to teach all these youngin's the tricks and how to play efficiently. I have been dragging young scrubs through the WOTM for 2 weeks now. Just because we're older doesn't mean we have to play like we're in a nursing home. You know how they make pills for sex, make pills for going to sleep and make pills to just be able to eat certain foods? There are also pills you can take to speed up your reflexs and cognitive abilities. Just don't get the pills mixed up. You don't want to fall asleep with the controller and a hardon going.

3 RepliesEdited by Yoder023: 10/17/2016 11:07:12 PMLmao. You're my hero! :) Yeah, I'm on that same road. I have a bad day & I blame it on "I'm getting older". My friends: "You're only 25". "Yeah, but I'm a Carpenter". "So?" "So I age 1.5 times normal!"
That's a joke based on the horrid fact most of us are dead before 60.
Hopefully I face you and your fellow scooter riding clan tonight in trials. I'm tired of these young sweaty's
