I have a story for you. Not a long one, a pretty short and simple one. As a 381 with outbreak prime, I've convinced myself that you NEED to be 365 to defeat Aksis.
Earlier today, I started a raid group, consisting of 4 hunters, and two titans. One hunter was a 351. I told myself that we'll take him up to aksis, and due to his low light he'll have to leave then. Instead, he kinda grew on me and I decided to keep him until he got frustrated and left.
That isn't what happened. Out of our makeshift raid, half of us were getting our first completion. We killed aksis in less than 5 wipes. Our damage was stellar, and our coordination was both social and professional. We beat aksis with a 356 in our team.
As an edit; There's too many people misinterpreting my point. I'm not saying : "Fuck you people asking for 370 and up! You can't have expectations." I'm telling you a story, where we did the entire raid within 3 hours, with a run down team of high 360s with a 350 teammate. M point is; You can still have a fun and quick raid even if you have some low levels.
As a final edit: It's been a ride. This has gotten much more popular than I'd thought, and theres so many people discussing. From support and congratulations to hate and criticism, we've had quite the number of ideas and points said. I understand that people have time constraints, and I guess 3 hours is suddenly a long completion time.
(Final edit pt 2) Last time I completed the raid was in 5 hours and that was quick to us. The raid is a hardcore endgame that I set aside always a few hours to do. The point of my post, however, is that you can still be speedy and effective without the highest of levels and cooperation/coordination will prove to be the much more valuable trait.

1 ReplyBut why? I'd rather do it with people 380+ and get it done easily
-
1 ReplyLfm 1 must be 388+ light must have optimus prime equipped must have a 3.0+ KD must have 1800+ in all playlists must do the raid alone So you must carry us when you havent all this then you will be kicked reported and muted

Edited by ShooterMcSlayin: 10/8/2016 9:56:35 AMMy clan carried a clanmate who was below 350 light last night and got him all the way through to the end and got him the outbreak prime quest, he had never done it and another clanmate who was in our fire team hadn't beaten the raid yet either, if you need high light then you're doing it wrong

1 ReplyLight is playtime, skill is its own entity. People think because someone is a low light that they are bad when that's simply an unfair assumption. Not all low light players are bad they may just not play as much or have as much free time.
-
I have completed the raid with a 356 on my team
-
Besides damage being a factor as long as the players are smart 350s can beat the raid. But like I said damage being a factor I don't think they would be able to beat the enrage timer on aksis or they would run out of platforms and be wiped
-
Some people just want to get things done already and not waste time with a low level. Some people are willing to carry that low level so they can just get it done. I finished the raid the first time as a level 366. A group on LFG (Thats right, LFG) were kind enough to give me a shot because i said i know how the raid goes, noone wants to give me a shot. We beat the raid. And now im a higher light level (its 2 a.m here im not going to check whatever i am right now you can look for yourself) If you are going to run raid, watch a few videos explaining whats going on so you can tell your team that you partially know the steps. A raid gets boring after the 4th wipe. Or do what the rest of the community would do.
Git Gud
3 RepliesI'm going to TRY to get to 370 before I even consider doing the Raid. No way in hell am I going to be a liability when it comes time to find a group.
-
I was in a team of all high 360s and two 370s. We got to Aksis phase 2 with all monitors. Almost killed him (he had almost no health) and we ended up dying. I had to go, so I guess I'm not getting outbreak prime anytime soon...
-
We killed aksis 1st day with 353-367 members about evenly distributed between tjose lights.

9 RepliesMy favorite part is when the host isn't even 370+
-
1 ReplyHe was prob a good player who could deal with being a low light level and stayed alive . Now let's get a retard/scrub from lfg at the same light level in and see how good he goes with being under light level for the fight hell get rekt coz he can't tank as much damage this why I would ask for 365 - 370 min.
-
1 ReplyRaids not hard just need communication and it's just a tad bit harder for lower light due to less damage done to enemies and more damage done to player but if u did ur homework u can easily find the safe spots to stay at aka the stairs.
-
1 ReplyBut wouldn't your high level kind of even out his low level?
-
To be honest I never understood why people demand high light levels/weapons. Even back in year one when people required Gjallarhorn prenerf to to Crota or Atheon. Like did people forget the first time the did VoG it was like with blues and a few legendaries. I've done the new raid with my little bro and he's 350 and he survived better than higher light guys all it takes is team work.
-
Most people who ask for 370+ know full well you don't need to be that high to complete the raid. It's about speed, survivability and efficiency. Gratz on your groups completion
-
1 ReplyIt has a recommended light level of 370. We are well within our right to ask for that level
-
5 RepliesFor the people who are crying about the standards of raid groups on lfg I have just one thing to say. Make your own fireteam. Its never been easier to be at raid level or higher than now. Spend a few hours grinding heroic strikes and a few hours grinding crucible or even better iron banner and be at 370+ easy. Hell if you really wanted to you could grind 3 of coins and go kill the ultra Knight on the dreadnought or whoever. My first raid run I went from 366 to 367...that's it. You still have to grind for higher level. So do it now and join in the fun. Or do it later and cry about why no one will let you join the hard raid and you can't complete it on normal because no one plays it any more. Or like i said before make your own group and make your own rules and see how far you can get. That's it.

2 RepliesPeople that are higher light don't have the courtesy or patience to help lower levels nowadays...
-
The first time I went to aksis was with 3 14-17 year olds, they were chanting like they had done it before but the fact of the matter A) these people clearly had only ever been though once B) they had a 380ish light yet didn't know how to get the second part down, they didn't know how colour or team work went. In the end, one said to the other, err my moms calling me, so did another and they left there friend behind who was saying it isn't their fault. I had never seen this before but knew everything to it yet these guys could grasp the idea of oh look I have shock, shout the shock person over. Just because you have a light level doesn't mean jack, just like in TTK at the end when it was made easy to get 335. Currently I only just scratch 373, and completed my first time through a few hours ago with an old friend and new friends who were boss!

2 RepliesThe lowest light allways knows better than the highest light........not really but it doesnt stop them from arguing with you.
-
Did that with a buddy. Went in with im at 348. Didnt expect to best aksis. We did it. 2 wipes. 3rd try and we had it. He left at 360 light, I was happy with that
-
1 ReplyFinished off aksis with a full group of 386 guardians in less than 10 minutes, so yeah I'm never raiding with low lights again....

12 RepliesEdited by EpicFailzz4Life: 10/8/2016 1:46:04 PMI have the Outbreak Prime but I barely use it against Aksis, my 1000 Yard Stare Sniper with Triple Tap usually does twice as much DPS as anyone who solely uses their Outbreak Prime. Yesterday I did the raid and we wiped once late into the fight and I had around 3.6 million damage while everyone else on my fireteam was around 1.7 million and below. I do usually pick up the cannons so that might be why I have some extra DPS but even without it I'm usually out-dpsing everyone else. So if you find yourself a good sniper with Triple Tap then I highly recommend prioritizing that over your Outbreak Prime for boss damage. Edit: I do remember actually using 2 cannons in 1 dps cycle so that should shorten the gap by around 550k.

Did the outbreak prime quest with 360's and one high level like me higher light teams just make it quicker.

1 ReplyEdited by khornutz: 10/8/2016 3:26:31 AMI remember when you needed a gjallarhorn to get into VOG. I remember when you had to be sword carrying hunter to get into Crota's end. I remember when you had to know the "no knights" strategy for King's fall. Wrath of the machine is the easiest raid. Stop complaining. Lol
