Can Hunters and Warlocks get infinite insta kill melees?

That's all shoulder charge is, a infinite melee that insta kills practically everything not in super or super Max armor. I know it only activates for a few seconds but holy hell, it can climb 90 degree angles like a -blam!-ing goat, it activates at 2 feet, it can activate mid air, it gives the tank class more movement abilities then a -blam!-ing hunter which is the agile class (or supposed to be buy with all the nerfs to shade step (not necessary) and blink (somewhat necessary, but not that recovery bs) Yes I am a hunter main, I played as a Titan in year 1 but scrapped him. I'm not a helicopter pilot but I know when that shits not supposed have its rotor across the -blam!-ing field. That's the Ramblings of a very salty hunter Edit: My proposition for a fix would for it to use a melee charge, similar to hunters and back stab, it's an instakill but it takes a melee charge. I don't know if I'd want it to be used only if it makes contact with someone or if you use it at all. It is a melee after all, not meant for mobility Edit 2: okay guys, I get it haha I'm a hunter haha. I do appreciate those that have provided proper feedback on why it isn't OP, that is widely appreciated. Edit 3: a brilliant suggest by mrtheliger "How to fix Shoulder Charge: It does not go up if you jump away from it. It cannot turn 90 degrees and hit you. Problem solved. It can still track slightly, just straight forward would render it useless, but not to insane degrees."

  • I don't know if I've already put this here but if I have, oh well. I'll do it again. Shoulder charge is a high risk/high reward ability. There are many counters and it puts the striker in a very awkward and risky situation. Starting with the activation, a titan must keep sprinting meaning he can't shoot or throw grenades at anybody and he's got no extra armor leaving him completely vulnerable to you. Then during the animation the same stuff as said before happens. Now if he misses this means he's in a very bad situation but a good one for you. You will be able to easily take down a titan that misses his shoulder charge because he will have expected you to die and he will be stunned to see you alive. The best way to get them to use it and miss is to either back up, run away, or jump at the last second. The clean up the titan. Now for the counters. As stated before a titan attempting a shoulder charge is very vulnerable as he can't shoot, throw a grenade, and he doesn't have extra armor. This means you can use any method to take him down. Here are the main counters, primary weapon fire, shotgun, sniper spam or headshot, grenade, weaken then melee, heavy ammo if you have any, super, team shot, back up, run away, or dodge at the last second. Those are he basics to countering shoulder charge. Shoulder charge is actually one of the easiest abilities to counter. You can do all of those things and here's the key, pay attention. Striker aren't invisible on your radar. If they are coming in you can see the huge red blob on your radar or the enemy running straight at you. Also no one said you had to stay standing there, you can run as I said before. Now if you get shoulder charged because you were focused on another enemy and you couldn't pay attention and counter it, well here's the thing, you would've died to that enemy anyways. He would have killed you with a grenade, melee, special, primary, or super. The point is you would be dead anyways.

        • Can titans have a shotgun range melee and a throwable melee? How about an extra grenade instead of a melee ability? Can we have blink and combine two supers in one? Hint: The classes are different for a reason. They are allowed to have abilities unique to themselves.

          • No we shouldn't because warlocks have long range melee. Titans have shoulder charge and hunters have wombo combo and knives. So yea about the melee, it's balanced.

                • OP barely touched the titan class, yet he thinks he understands how the class works. Making a silly claim like "I played as a titan in year 1" is absolutely hilarious considering that you have a total of 15 hours spent on the two characters which you deleted, and you aren't even close to rank 1 pve or pvp kills as titan. Seriously, do you not realize that people can look up your stats and call you out on your bs? You don't know how shoulder charge works, you don't know how titans work, go cry a river somewhere else.

                  • For the last time, the Titan is [i]not[/i] the "tank" class. The differences between the playstyles of the different classes are so marginal that there really isn't any distinction between a "tank" class or an "agile" class or a "support" class. Shoulder Charge and Titan Skating are abilities that allow a Titan gain good speed [i]in a straight line[/i]. Double Jump and Blink are abilities that allow Hunters to be [i]unpredictable in the air[/i]. If you're going to make the argument for a "tank" class, consider that Shoulder Charge and Titan Skating fit the bill perfectly for a "charging bull" style of play. I agree that Shoulder Charge should not be able to follow you 10 feet up in the air or turn 90 degrees to kill you (unless you're using Mk. 44 Stand Asides), but leave the rest of the ability as is.

                    So you want sc to use a melee charge: A) what if it misses, then what? B) is it still going to occupy the same spot on the subclass tree? If so then it will probably still take titans about the same amount of time for it to be usable when it compared to the other starting classes who can use it much sooner. And if it replaces storm fist then people will run this with juggernaut. Think about it, a shoulder charging titan a with juggernaut shield. Would you want to get within melee range of that? Edit: I get killed most of the time I shoulder charge. Since it can be countered in various ways, is it still overpowered?

                    • I'm 50/50 on this, hunters will never be as strong as Titans but they do have the one stab melee in blade dancer which suits the play style of a hunter. Warlocks I've been killed many times by just a melee. (I don't exactly know how) but yeah, the Titans are aggressive and powerful in a sense. I used to feel they were WAY overpowered. but now I accept the fact they are a just smidge OP compared to the others. I hate the SC and I definitely hate the Thor hammers , but in the end, every class pisses me off to a degree lol

                      • Yes. Have it eat up your entire melee charge, however much of it you may have, every time you use shoulder charge. You still have infinite SC, but at least the Titan can't use storm fist if they use this first.

                        • I don't want to be salty but all I see in the crucible is shoulder charge shotgun skating titans, some of them don't even know what a primary is for, I know they can use whatever they want but this is getting out of hand

                          • Says the guy with no Titans... Can Titans blink? Can they go invis? Can they come back from the dead? Can they throw their melee attack? The list could go on. It's almost like classes are different.

                              • I'd be fine with toning down it's lunge range by a small amount as long as they fix the hit detection on it. Somedays i'll fly up in the air and smack a fleeting warlock. other days a hunter can do his standard jump (not even a double jump) in my FUDGING FACE and i'll whiff. But as a hunter main i'd rather we get a way to get over shields. Hunters already have back stab for insta gib. And warlocks get to snipe with their melee or get health back on every. fudging. melee. with the ram. So I don't think their melee needs a buff either.

                                • If you're letting Titans consistently sprint up to you for free, you're playing the game wrong. You may want to change up your tactics. Don't wander around near corners and consider having your shotgun on hand when your radar starts flashing and trying to tell you that someone might be approaching.

                                  • It just needs its aim assist/tracking ability reduced. It requiring a melee would make it useless since its not in the melee skill tree. The warlock melee needs its aim assist reduced as well. Neither of them should have better target acquisition than Arcblade.
