Memory of Silimar is one of the new 8 special rise of iron artifacts with strong game changing abilities. Specifically, it either greatly reduces or eliminates Damage over Time effects on you. Such as Thorn, Viking Funeral Sunsingers, and even Gunslinger Knife burns.
It appears this artifact exists to help players counter the thorn, as Bungie knows that many players will start using thorn again due to its past overwhelming popularity.
The problem?
I fear that subclasses such as Sunsingers and Gunslinger (but mostly Sunsinger) will be drastically reduced in effectiveness with this artifact existing. The artifact existing to nullify certain guns like Thorn I understand. But an entire subclass build? That seems excessive. I feel that Sunsingers and gunslingers are caught in the crossfire of a developer decision to counter thorn.
Wouldn't it be easier to just make the thorn dot/poison act like Luck in the Chamber (RNG proc) rather than adding an artifact which could potentially shut down an entire subclass?
Edit: Don't tell me to play a different subclass. I play the Sunsinger exclusively in PVP. I know every nook and cranny the subclass has. I know what builds are viable and when.
This artifact is game breaking for Sunsingers if the artifact behaves as its tool tip describes. The Sunsinger specifically already underperformed after the big nerfhammer. Their low usage in pvp, which Bungie has the stats to confirm, is the proof of that.
This artifact does not add a new playstyle. If it works as described based on the information we have on the artifacts tooltip, it eliminates another players playstyle. It does not add a new one. If you aren't aware, there is only 2 viable PVP builds for Sunsinger currently. This artifact may potentially eliminate entirely one of those builds. There is no other artifacts which to my knowledge will inadversely affect another subclass as greatly as this one.
I wish to raise awareness to this ahead of time.
