Why do people hate Generation 5 of Pokémon?
I just picked up White 2 as I missed it at the time of release. I had played the regular White before and did enjoy it but the sequel is so much better.
I'm just wondering why Gen 5 gets so much hate. Is it seriously just because of the ice cream and rubbish bag?
Gen 5 has some awesome designs overall. I just don't understand the hate.

Gen 5 is kind of where it started getting a bit ridiculous. Don't get me wrong though. Gen 5 has some of my favorite pokemon it it like Hydragon and Zekrom.

I say things became too detailed in designs. Sinnoh and below had designs that were (to a degree) simplistic enough to remain within the universe's established art style. Now it seems as if each new generation try's to be more intricate with its Pokemon and therefore deviate from previous inspiration in order to try and make a name for themselves.

3 RepliesThey we're trying desperately to reboot the series as a neo gen 1 and didnt work really. The gen 5 only pokemon throughout the first game is painful, the badguys were super flawed and in the end their morals didnt hold water, no one cares about N, and I'd argue its pretty aesthetically lacking as its a weird half step into the 3D world of XY. That all said I think BW2 are fantastic and cleaned up a lot for the game. I do want to also mention I enjoy a lot of the designs, more over than gen 4 mostly even

It's when the creativity dried up. Very noticeable drop off in quality between 1-4 and 5 onward.

1 ReplyI didnt like the new pokemon (especially the fire starter, which is usually my go to), but I liked the game. I actually think X and Y are the worst so far. It introduced a load of great new elements, but the game its self had the weakest villians, worst endgame content and was far too easy. It felt more like a tech test for the 3D than a full game.

6 RepliesIn my opinion, while every generation has it's dumb pokemon, 5 has the most. They have this weird style to them, I think.. That being said, gen 5 also has a lot of cool pokemon.

Gen 5 was my favorite and I always feel a lot of joy when someone uses a gen 5 pokémon for competitive battling. It had more pokémon that gen 1, was the only gen other than gen 1 that had only gen exclusive pokémon before you beat the elite four, and a lot of good designs with a few bad ones, just like gen 1
