*Edit: Welp. Looks like Bungie was well on to this before I brought it up. The zero likes doesn't bug me because I know I have a point. Little clarification for newcomers, King's Fall was not a bad raid, and I don't mind technical raids, but it just drug on and on and on, and people just wouldn't take you if you had never done it before AND weren't a high light lvl for their purposes. Like I say down below, it wasn't hard, it was just a little TOO involved, and TOO long and forced people to set requirements that were nearly insurmountable for people who didn't do and learn the raid right away. If they had cut out some of the jumping puzzles or one or two of other puzzles, it would have been just fine. It def still wouldn't have been like Crota.
t haven't completed Kings Fall in any mode this time around, because it's not worth the hassle. This is not school or a paid job. I don't get real money or certifications for this, so why, Bungie, are you creating content that requires ridiculous amounts of prep time before you even get to play it.
Many fire teams require "experience" because your raids are SO buggy (as opposed to truly difficult) and SO involved and, in the case of Kings Fall, SO drawn out, that having anything less than a well rehearsed team results in hours of stall time. The current matchmaking system only adds to this issue since it's still a random matchmaking system that can and does throw newbies together......it just takes more time. Ironically, if you want it to be a little less randomized (for randomized it still is) here too, the only way to get on a team is to have experience, which, again, you can only gain experience by doing the very activity you are being barred from for having no experience.
The only option then is to literally do research outside of the game JUST to play the game. This is asinine and part of the reason I haven't taken any more steps toward completing Kings Fall or preordering Rise of Iron. I'm giving voice to the casuals that bought your game who would never jump online to tell you this, and the hardcores....they matter, yes, but how much do they matter?
Hardcore players don't pay your bills. It's the casual players that actually get you your profits. What are your stats for completion on King's Fall I wonder? How many of your "20+ million" registered players have completed it or even attempted it? How many are going to bother buying an expansion that they know will require as much time outside of game as gameplay itself whether in watching videos or combing through your recruitment page? In March 2015 the stats percentages were pretty abismal on how much of your player base had actually participated in endgame content.Haven't heard much since, except that you have "20+ million registered users."
I'm no super genius, but let's do the math for this next expansion. If 25 million were still playing and were pumped for the next expansion, 25 million x $30 is what? $750 million. Phew wee. That's a chunk of change. There's no way that's how many people are on your server, but that's not my point anyway. We'll say only...what's a fair number.....only 5 million have dropped off since launch. (Because your current raid policies have been in place since then and haven't changed) 5 million x $30....$150 million dollars in lost profit on this next expansion from a 20% loss in player base, because they are casuals locked out of key content by an asinine (and selfish) hardcore player base spurred on by equally asinine and inane requirements for gameplay.
$150 million in lost profits to cater to hard core players.....that doesn't sound like a small number to me. Do you have 20 million financially well off, hard core players who are willing to plug the hours it takes outside of the game to play the game? Or who will try to find people to guide them through and gain them the experience to complete the raids? Probably not. I gave up, on it, and if you look at my play time, I'm def not a casual player.
I noticed a lot of youtube destiny channels that I've always gone to are a lot lower in viewership than they used to be. That's interesting.
So many suggestions have been given to you on how to appeal to your casual base. There's no need for me to give them to you here. This is an argument on why you should listen to them (even if they haven't gotten a lot of "likes" and comments). Because, again, the casual crowd doesn't really take the time to voice themselves. If you want to lose profits simply because you can't consider your entire player base as a whole when it comes to end game activities (something not even that hard to do) then that's your business (pun intended). If you only lose 2% of 15 million (a likely more accurate rep of your current base) going from TTK to ROI that's $9 million in profit loss, but hey, it's your vision. But if you ever want to chance get that $9 million back, you could try not being so stubborn about certain aspects of your game that turn off casual players.
Just some facts to consider.

Profits not including eververse. *drop kicks sterling treasure

So much rambling... TRIGGERED.
-
The time you spend writing that wall of txt could get you to the sisters lol!
-
TLDR Just take a stab at the raid and go for it.
-
OP calls himself elite, and can't be bothered to watch a video or play with randoms to complete a raid. You're fired.
-
Hah, this is how raids in every game that has them are.
-
Well you can actually rank up to 335 now through a variety of non raiding activities. The raids are supposed to be hard man.
-
This post is asinine...
-
1st the only glitchy raid was Crota's End and that was fix well over a year ago. There was a very rare issue at Oryx when the ogres would glitch but that was even rare(I have over a 120 KF completions and rarely ever had it occur). 2nd your way late to the party and why you must prep for the raid.If you started raiding day 1 of it's release you could have been part of the players base figuring out the encounters instead of having to watch youtube. 3rd you can't please everyone, suck it up.

1 ReplySo you want a participation award? No. Its meant to be difficult FOR those who choose to tackle it. You want a casual game, Activision recently bought candy crush

19 RepliesEdited by Writing In Verse: 8/6/2016 12:19:55 AMOk ladies, gentleman and everything in between are you ready? As I'm going to state a counter argument to, well, whatever this is. Ok first off if you want to be taken seriously don't sound so violent, you instantly give the impression of hate and negativity that isn't constructive and people won't listen to that. Second, don't use big numbers and fancy words to scare some of the younger or slightly less educated gamers of our little community, especially when you don't really know how to use them correctly. Using the word 'asinine' continously because it sounds like a good descriptive, just makes you sound less credible because repetitive writing doesn't read well. You also look like a prick to those that can see through the big scarey words. On to your 'casuals need love' point. Firstly, the game is in the best state it's been for casual play. Check out my Warlock; it's six points from max light. I haven't completed a raid properly since the beginning of the year, granted I did a fare amount of Iron Banner but most came from easy to obtain exotic engrams and strikes with a couple of CoE cards when that first launched. It's even going to get easier when RoI comes out because of Iron Banner getting simpler to rank up in and there being more avenues of content and gear acquirement. Fourth. Destiny's playerbase is fine. It ebbs and flow but there's and underlying community that few other multiplayer games have, especially with regards to this games history. Lastly. It's a two year old game dude, the players that didn't like it have left and those that do have stayed. We all know how this game works now and that's less a design flaw and more it's an MMO that promotes team play. Go play WoW and ask for solo alternatives to raids. You'll be laughed at.

It's actually really easy to find a sherpa or people also running it for the first time, just be upfront about your experience and capabilities :D
-
I'm sorry, but to dumb down the raids would not be catering to the casual player. This game has catered to casual players a lot already: you don't have to raid to hit max light anymore. You lose nothing by not doing the raid, except for the experience, which you stated you don't care for. What you're asking Bungie to do is to cater to the lazy players. The people who are too proud to reach out and find a sherpa, the people who won't throw on a youtube video while they're taking a dump to at least have some idea of mechanics, the people who don't step foot in a raid and say it's too buggy. Your estimates are interesting, but the fact of the matter is, hardcore players pay the bills just as much as casuals. It's not a subscription service, you buy exactly 1 copy and the game is yours in it's entirety. If anything, Bungie gains more from Hardcore players who spend money on Silver 4 months in to an expansions life time. If you actually want to do the raid, I'm a sherpa. I've done Kings Fall 130 times, sometimes with my clan, sometimes with LFG, and recently: always with a rookie or two. I'd be happy to spend the 2-3 hours helping you learn the mechanics firsthand. It is a fun activity, and you don't need to spend hours prepping. Throw on a sniper rifle and you're good to go.

1 ReplyA teaspoon of social skills and a $10 mic goes a long way in a raid.
-
Cry a little more why don't you. You say you want to do the raids but don't want to do any prepwork. That's not how it works usually, unless there's someone like me who enjoys being a sherpa, and I doubt that a sherpa would take you with that attitude. Raids are meant to be challenging. That's the way it is. Deal with it. You want an easy time, go patrol the Cosmodrome, but then you might cry about how Dregs are overpowered and enemies should fire rose petals instead of bullets. You want to raid? Look stuff up and know what to do. They aren't meant to be a casual experience to waltz through.
-
Good thing you can just jump into a strike. If the raids were not as difficult they would lose a lot of the base. I personally only play because there are activities that can truly provide a challenge.
-
Dude... shut up. If it bothered you so much to post this long winded stat breakdown across many paragraphs, stop playing the game and find something you like. There's content for casuals and hardcore gamers alike. It's not perfect but it's kept a lot of folks playing for a while. The challenge of learning raids without any in game explanations while working with others as a team is exactly what people love about the raids. Find a team. Ask them for help. Learn the raids. You'll be hooked when you complete one. You'll have great times and bad times. If the bad out weighs the good STOP PLAYING. I don't need to crunch stats to tell you if you don't like something then you should stop supporting it with your money.
-
I regularly take noobs through the raid. BUT, acting this way wouldnt help you get a sherpa. Seems to me you might be too volitile. I dont sherpa cry babies. Ive sherpa'd and gotten some real winners on my teams, who act like petulant children the second anyone tried to correct them. They get kicked. Dont be that guy.
-
Yea the hardcore players money is just monopoly money, it doesn't count for anything, and all the cosmetic stuff that hardcore players buy isn't real cuz I'm sure all the casuals buy stuff from tess all the time, get your head out of your ass and stop being a little bitch
-
Too long
-
Go outside, I have heard the sun is nice.
-
The raid isn't a requirement. If it's something you're not interested in, you don't have to do it
-
If you can't handle the raid that's a personal problem. I have hardly any completions and I know it's not hard lol.
