That's why striker has juggernaut. That's why no backup plans exist. Really, that's why defender subclass exists in general.
Titan's class specific weapon is a shotgun. Your starting special weapon is a shotgun for -blam!-'s sake.
It's pretty obvious that bungie made titans for these purposes. Speed and aggressive play are worked into the skill trees.
I've seen so many people complain "titans can skate around with overshields and shotguns". Yeah no shit; that's what they're meant to do.
Let's talk about the comparison to hunters, cause I see this one just as often.
Titan is not a more agile class than hunter. Hunters specialize in evasive moves and weapon handling. They have far more jump maneuverability and they have shadestep, which despite what many of you think, is better than garrison.
Just because titans can move faster in a straight line doesn't make them better than hunters. And just because hunters are swift be definition doesn't mean they have to be the only quick class. Hunters are not strictly the agile class, and titans are not strictly the tank class. That's the essence of destiny's class system.

4 RepliesPeople often forget one of Bungie's design goals is to have certain classes fulfill a certain fantasy. Strikers are packaged to be the "break the door down and clear a room" kind of class. Taking away abilities that assist that fantasy would make the class suffer and it wouldn't be fun to play. A lose-lose for players who enjoy the playstyle.

1 ReplyI always though blink was made for shotgunning warriors

You justify Titan skating by saying that Titans aren't more agile than Hunters, and in the next paragraph you say Hunters don't have to be the most agile and Titans don't have to be tanks. Which is it? You can't have your cake and eat it too. Argue all you want about the philosophy of each class, juggernaut skating is too strong of a mechanic that's nearly impossible to deal with on certain maps, just like blink-shotgun was in year one. You can't be the fastest and the toughest class at the same time, which is what Titans currently are. Some people try to argue that Titans aren't true "tanks" because they can't survive dramatically more damage than the other classes, but that will never be the case. In an FPS with such a quick kill time, that would make them infinitely better and no one would ever play anything else. But you can still survive more damage. There are classes of weapons that would be able to kill you with fewer shots or with less of a need for headshots, if you didn't have the high armor stat. Grenades as well. Don't argue that this isn't the case. The fact that 90% of the player base selects that the highest armor they can is evidence of that.

well it is frustrating to a lot of players in crucible, so its going to be nerfed whether you like it or not

You're blunt. Good job!

1 ReplyAh the Titan. It appears that most people that main a Titan have never played another game besides Destiny

15 RepliesEdited by Acehunter25: 8/4/2016 5:10:33 PMNope, every other class had to lose something because Titans bitched.. Time for strikers to feel the nerfherd too Edit: I was just joking guyz

Each class has its advantages and disadvantages! Best advise, there's 3 character slots so make 1 of each class and learn how to use them! Everything in the game is obtainable ( exception fate of all fools) so if someone has something you don't or is doing something you can't, figure out how or what they're doing and get for your self! Also keep in mind what works for someone else might not work for you! A CLASS IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE PERSON USING IT!

1 Replytitans are obviously the tank class, lets buff them Titans are obviously the recovery class, lets buff them Titans are obviously the most agile class lets buff them Wouldn't be surprised if this happened next

7 RepliesEdited by Phathas: 8/4/2016 2:55:06 AMThey were not, however, meant to have Titan Skating, not as it currently is. That's an exploit of Improved Control that Bungie, for whatever reason, has yet to fix. Probably because Striker has only risen to the top of the Meta recently. Right now, Improved Control is doing Catapult's job, but significantly better. They should buff Catapult to not suck, but still be less than what skating is now. Fix Improved Control, so that it can no longer be exploited.

1 ReplyI think people forget the fact that theres a weapon perk that increases your speed by +2 which can make a titan just as fast as a hunter with the right set up. Dont blame the class, ask for perks that increase armor and recover by 2.
-
6 RepliesI think the issue is that Titans have the ability to have high speed without losing armor which is kinda bs because I thought armor, speed, and recovering were decisions that had to be made carefully and not double dipped
-
All the classes play pretty much the same.

4 RepliesWhat are warlocks good for than? If titans are agile tanks.
-
6 RepliesEdited by Toecttr: 8/2/2016 11:57:51 PMI did not realize that any class had a "class specific weapon". As there are no buffs for specific use of a weapon based on class. Now I would be all in on class buffs concerning particular weapon use or for that fact buffs based on character race choice. For example Exo's,strength,Awoken, intellect and Human, discipline or which ever. That's just a little more depth than Bungie can muster from their mediocre pool of designers.
-
Anyone notice how Warlocks don't get a fusion rifle at the start of the game?
-
My only issue with the Tanking reasons when it comes to Titans is that they really don't get much of a health advantage which is only like 15 more hp, so your really only going to survive some really miniscule things such as DoT or maybe an AR shot with some damage drop. I would certainly like to see those stats provide stronger benefits and have each class get more going for them to give them more definitive RPG roles with the same kind of ability to choose stats and perks that we have currently. I'd try to further explain the details but I feel I'd just -blam!- it up somehow, I tend to do that when sharing my thoughts.

13 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 8/3/2016 2:53:14 PMWrong. Actually the devs have stated explicitly that Titan skating was not something they ever envisioned as part of the game. They've just been reluctant (so far) to touch it because it is not doing anything wrong, and (so far) its not game-breaking. But they are going to have to do something. Because the slow primary weapon TTK is simply not compatible with the speed at which skating allows Titans to move....and abilities that other classes had that could have offset this problem have been systematically nerfed into the ground over the last two years. So right now the Titan skating/shottie/ Striker-Juggernaut: Defender-Force Barrier build gives them a huge advantage over other classes and play styles.

12 RepliesAnd gunslinger was meant for shoot/scooting, long ranged combat, and denial of cqc encounters. That is why tripmine both stuck to people and acted as a mine pre-nerf. That is why they have throwing knives. So they have an easier time killing you at range than you do rushing them. However, tripmine and throwing knife were both nerfed to the point that when I stick someone with a knife in the same situations I would pre-nerf, the player walks away with a sliver of health. I hate nerfs as much as anyone, but if they're going to do stupid stuff like nerf abilities which help the character function in its basic roll/playstyle, its just time to nerf the thing to the ground so we can all quit playing and go play something else LOL
-
I need my blink back. I have zero problem with Titans but Bungie listens to the crybabies and you know what Bungie do right?
they nerf "insert name here" to the ground
2 RepliesHonestly I had to put up with blink shotguns year 1 and shadestep year 2 Titan skating took mastery to learn ( unlike shadestep and blink strike) Learn to adapt or perish.
