Intro
Hey everyone, Dukaness here with a quick video. No intro, no fancy edits – just a video I wanted to get out quick to help you guys go flawless this weekend. I know it’s Sunday but there’s still time. Over the past month or so I’ve been finding it a lot harder to go flawless. This weekend I’m off to a great start, and I think it’s because we’ve figured out how to best play on Asylum. A lot of the best teams you’ll come up against are snipers, even though this a small map. They rely on your team to peek sniper lanes and walk into their scopes to get picks. By not playing into that, by rushing the point and sitting on it, you can frustrate these teams and force them out of their comfort zone. We were matched against MunchGawd and luckyDUELstars, two very skilled streamers. Their whole team was running Sniper and TLW, which in my opinion is a poor set up on this map. Our game plan from the beginning was to rush the OT point and sit on it, knowing they’d be forced to challenge us eventually, and also knowing they’d have a difficult time doing so without shotguns. This is one of the easiest maps to lock down the OT point and you can expose that against teams that refuse to put their snipers away. The point of this video is to show you how you can expose snipers on this map, and lock down the OT point to secure victories. Callouts I use are from this link: http://i.imgur.com/fnacwdd.jpg.
Isolate Your Opponents
A team of snipers will never challenge you for the middle room, they’ll let you have it and they’ll try and get creative by moving around the map looking for angles. This is a huge advantage for you because it offers two viable ways to win. First of all, they always spread out and cover different angles, hoping you’ll make a mistake and expose yourself. When you identify that someone is isolated, you can rush them. For example, the window across from the OT point is a popular place to go for a pick. Her spot has no exit plan, so if you know someone is there, you can have two people peek it and team kill her, which is what we did. As I mentioned, because they have to spread out to cover different angles, Munch and Afro aren’t together. So once we’re up a man, we all collapse on Afro, and then on Munch.
Winning Through Overtime/Frustration
The other advantage this gives is that they’ve handed you the OT point on a silver platter. All you need to do is hold the point down and wait for OT. They know they have to eventually rush you or else you’ll just sit on the point and capture. For that reason, if you want to use this strategy, Trip Mines with Young Ahamkara’s Spine, Lightning Grenades with Armamentarium, and Smoke Grenades with the Grasps are a great class choice. Once OT comes, if everyone clogs up a choke point (A-stairs, C-Stairs, and B-stairs), and then focuses primary weapons towards the second floor ledge, there is nowhere that they can surprise you. You can call it cheap and dirty, but it’s effective. One more thing to consider is teams get their supers early in games that are dragged out. You don’t want to be caught in a situation where you’re getting rushed with supers all the time. This is another reason to select Striker, Nightstalker or Gunslinger, as they have good shut down supers.
Play Smart and Play Disciplined
If you’re going to win this way, you need to play more disciplined than ever. I show a couple examples of DeathBat getting picked. He is the first pick of the round 3 times in this game (gets picked on the OT point beside a pillar). He was sniped twice from window and once from A-stairs. He’s in the same spot every time. We ended up losing 2/3 of those rounds, which stresses the importance of staying out of your opponent’s vision. If a spot isn’t working for you, you have to find a different spot to stay. There are three spots I use to not get picked, shown in the video. One is beside a tree under the capture point. Another is the corner beside the TVs near the ledge. The last is on the opposite side (A side) on a bench in the corner. I recommend you always look around to make sure you aren’t exposed. Also stay crouched so you aren’t always on the radar. Playing smart means not giving snipers an opportunity to get a pick. Playing disciplined is fighting the boredom. I don’t enjoy waiting two minutes for OT every round. I don’t enjoy sitting in a corner waiting for someone to come to me. But that’s the game. Our opponents are doing the same thing in their spawn. They are frustrated because we are not playing into their strategy. Fight the urge. Play smart. Play disciplined. It’s not always fun, but it works.
If They Are Also Aggressive
Although I saw way more teams running only snipers with Scouts and Pulse Rifles than I should have, you are obviously going to play teams that rush the OT point like you do. Use EVERYTHING you have to fight them for the middle room. Come in with grenades, smokes, everything you can do to get an early kill or push them back. Rounds end quick this way. Think of every round as the beginning of a dodge ball game. Everyone rushes the middle ground (middle room) for the OT point (dodge balls), because that’s the key to winning. I show examples of my approach on both sides. Like I mentioned, Nightstalker is a great choice on this map. I wombo the main door every time if my abilities are charged.
Outro
That’s it guys. It isn’t a guaranteed flawless, it isn’t a foolproof way to win games. However, I have personally found that I’m able to beat teams using this method that I wouldn’t normally be able to beat on other maps or using different strategies. A lot of top players rely on sniping to win Trials games. Take that away from them and you have a chance. Stay disciplined, stay smart, and make sure everyone is on board with the game plan.

We did a guy in the middle on that truck, a guy in the place where heavy ammo used to spawn (high side) and a guy in the corner, and once one of them was dumb enough to come out, we'd surround them from behind, front, and then have a guy cover snipe. No guaranteed flawless, but it got us to 7-0, where the universal remote red bar people best us in the dumbest way possible

5 RepliesNot only are these guys hella pro but they also are willing to do anything to help a viewer out and I mean anything. This one time I was really needing da cock and dukaness was more then willing to give me my hearts desires. He did it to the best of his ability and didn't complain once. I'll always love him for that. Though his boy jp..... my god don't get me started. That guy is sexy af. First time I heard him I got super wet. Then when I saw him I just knew he was mine. I ended up finding where he lived and went to his place, he was resistant at first but clorophorm helps a ton. Thanks for the awesome experiences guys!

Edited by Moof Juice: 8/2/2016 5:14:43 PMSo this weekend in trials I got tired of sniping and dealing with all the nonsense lfg crap. So I found a very casual team, and told them "im going to be a dick and just run NLB and pc+1 and blink with my Voidwalker" I had my first positive weekend (ever lol) ... and that was playing with a teamate who kept getting disconnected leaving us in a 2v3..... I made my team push middle room hard, if they challenged snipes up close NLB worked wonders, and once we got middle room we just camped it (usually with an enemy orb or two down) until OT watching our supers build. My entire team was made up of 0.47-0.74 kd players with sub 1200 elos, and we actually did quite well, especially considering the one player who kept disconnecting (even though he was greenbar the entire time???)

We played a mix of snipers and shotgun, we always went to outside heavy and team shoot mida, not many teams could stand waiting for us to make a move and came towards the up top fence and got team shot, playing like this they didn't even get a chance to fire a sniper shot, we deemed their snipers useless, same with playing a team of shotguns, we went outside heavy played for a pick or cap point, 3 players pushing flag from all angles proved too much for most teams. If they came outside on spawn to meet us we ran to cap and played the same, we tried to keep all teams at a medium range, as they pushed us we switched sides always keeping our distance. I had 3 serious cards and went flawless twice, My team is only 1.2/1.3 kds, good team work out plays stats all the time. Pushing middle room to hold cap was too unpredictable for us, we lost some, we won some so we gave up the room completely and it worked really well.

It's a very good start .. Used something similar to it and went flawless with all my characters .. We were all using snipers tho .. Nice video bro

4 RepliesNever run trials before, mainly because I'm not on the level with Snipes or shotties yet. Been running fusions lately, and getting into those a lot. Doesn't seem like they would be much use in Trials though. Thoughts? GGs and guide man!

Edited by Darches: 8/2/2016 7:27:54 AMI do this on almost every trials map! Many overtime zones are conveniently hard to snipe. I often swap to UR + sniper since primaries have been nerfed into the ground. Swapping special weapon and losing ammo is terrible, but UR lets me gain a shotgun when I need it at the cost of my primary. I use my sniper as a utility weapon and engagement starter, NOT a primary, and never counter snipe unless I have a massive advantage (super headglitch, know exactly where the enemy's head is, using unique lane, etc.) Juggernaut and Quickdraw drastically help the loadout, but it's kinda weak on warlocks. Still, OP melee range and auto-win super makes the Stormcaller strong IMO. Decent area control grenade too, it got me kills on Asylum and didn't angle downwards like lightning (whyyyy). I got multikills with landfall because people kept rushing me while I was alone. How rude!

Earlier Today I got with two other people. I had no mic, sadly, but the main reason we lost is.. well heres a long story. Ok, so we are losing 4-1. My team doesnt know the idea of using a different strategy when one fails. Another time, it was 20 seconds left. My teammate went in to rush, left the cap zone, and challenged a SHOTGUN with a sniper in an ENCLOSED SPACE. And we get our rez, they get theirs, but they already capped the point. So it was 4-1, I was determined to not get 4-1. I quickly sniped a guy down by heavy outside, HC another floating warlock, and threw a lightning nade and meleed a shotgunner. 4-2. I snipe the guy again, throw another nade, rinse, repeat.[ I was LMS both rounds btw, my team didnt kill them at all.] 4-3. BOTH teammates go to the area they JUST got snipe the last two rounds. THEY GET SNIPED. Im LMS AGAIN. And a FoH kills me. THX TEAMMATES. I JUST WASTED MY CARD. another game before that I sniped one with my Eirene RR4, and rushed in, FOH two. Got the victory. I know, you thought i was invincible, however, Titan Slams are anti-invincibility. However, I correct their stupid blunders, and one gets mad and leaves. Like, ok? Lol

I agree this is a good idea but TBH I have seen a lot of shotgunners actually.
-
Did they ever fix that hole in the wall glitch for that map?
-
We snipe and always challenge the middle. It's common sense I would think

2 RepliesHey are you on 360? I want to put this to effect but my mic broke....

6 Replies😐 ......damn, I gotta say. I'm very impressed. In theory this could be adapted to every map. A formula to win trials. GOOD SHOW, VERY GOOD SHOW!
